  1. Hi everyone, i have been offered a 5 speed lupo GTI for a good price and the only problem is the 5 speed gearbox has a whine in 3rd. i have been looking at reconditioned gearboxes and was wondering if it is possible to put the 6 speed gearbox on? And if so what else would have to be changed such as gear linkages? and will it work with the current ecu? i have searched on the forum for this question and haven't been able to find a definitive answer. i know the 6 speed lupo box will not fit to a 5 speed polo gti but what about the 5 speed lupo gti? thanks in advance matt
  2. Hi I was wondering if I could ask for your help in my problem i went to buy a part at TPS and it was discontinued in February 2018. See photo for info mine had a hole in and has chemical metal holding the oil in. Would I find this on any other gearbox thanks in advance
  3. Looking to buy a motorbike so sadly the Lupo has to be sold! It's a very tidy example. Feel free to ask any questions. I can also add more photos of any specific areas if required. Model: Lupo GTi 6 Speed MOT: Until July but will MOT test it upon sale for free Engine size: 1600 Fuel type: Petrol Description including modifications: Cambelt and waterpump are brand new (85k) Nearly full service history 85k miles Standard, Unmodified Excellent condition Location: Ipswich Price: £3495
  4. Hi All, It is with deep regret I am selling my Lupo GTi. Only selling because my son has started learning to drive and unfortunately at 6' 3" he is too tall for it It is a 2002 model with aircon and the 6 speed gearbox in black. It has just 2 previous owners and 89k miles backed up with a Full Service History tons of paperwork including a fully stamped service book, service invoices, MOTs and original sale documents. It has been serviced to within an inch of its life, primarily by VW main dealers and a VW independent specialist. I will post more photos and details up soon but it is a standard GTi i.e. standard suspension, Bathurst alloys and the grey/red interior. It even has the original number plates from the supplying dealer ! It is a lovely, genuine car that has been super reliable for me. It has had an easy life in my ownership as it has to share me with 3 other cars I own It can be viewed in North London, approx. 10 minutes from J24 of the M25 or 10-15 minutes from J2 of the M1 It is quite hard to price these as prices seem to have a wide range. I am asking only £3,500 for my little GTi which I think is on the cheaper end, particularly considering the low owners, mileage and document supported service history.
  5. Looking for a Lupo GTI gearbox. Preferably 6speed, but would consider a 5 Wanting one ready to fit with not too high mileage and smooth changes. Cheers
  6. Hi guys! First post... Anyway I have a 2001 Lupo GTI 6 speed on 106 K Having an issue with 3rd gear . Basically the car will drive in third gear if I put it in nice and slowly and I think its only once it has rev matched. Otherwise if I try and up shift to 3rd gear normally it just grinds and is having none of it. Sounds to me like the syncro for 3rd? Because I can sit stationary at idle , try put it in 3rd and slowly lift the clutch up it just grinds. Whats the best route to go , I know its hard to find a replacement box so refurb? Anybody in Scotland know a place that can do it ? Cheers!
  7. In looking through the classifieds, I have noticed that there are a fair few cars advertised with a replacement or refurb gearbox. Most of the cars seem to be on around 100k miles and spread across both 5 speed and 6 speed boxes. I would have thought that a VW gearbox would last more than 100k miles. Is this a common issue and one I should budget for if the car is still on its original gearbox ?
