  5. Has anyone ever swapped a Honda B series engine or anything similar into their Lupo? Is it even possible? I know a Polo GTi conversion would be miles easier but tbh if I was going to put in the effort to engine swap I'd want to make something a bit more unique. Any help or information is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance 👍

  9. Just saying hi, will ad pics fyi. 55 plate GTI in Black. In family since 2006 & kept completely standard. We have been approached 5/6 times over the last few years to sell e.g. supermarket car park seems the favourite - won't be selling until there's no more petrol in the world and maybe not even then!. A few Q's : One of the last come into the country from DE ? How many GTI's left on the road? The rear spoiler has gone weird, paint flaked off so want to get a replacement spoiler and then fit/paint - any source recommended. Thanks and Hello! from East Herts.
  10. Make: VW Model: LUPO MOT: 28 Aug 2019 TAX: May 2019 Engine size:1.6 Fuel type:Petrol Description including modifications: 1st registered March 2002 VW Lupo 1.6 GTi. Tornado Red with rare number plate J1 UPO included. Totally Original - GTi Sports Seats & Original Floor Mats, Original CD Player One family owned since bought from VW Dealership ex demo in 2002. Most of its life it was driven by my ex wife and garaged. Currently 70400 miles. Well maintained. Last serviced July 2018 including new ignition lead set and plugs. 4 new tyres Aug 2017. Cambelt and rear discs/pads April 2015. Alternator April 2014. Original VW file containing service schedule & vehicle handbook although most receipts for maintenance now missing. Only noticeable imperfections are drivers roofline small oxidisation and two small bumps where parking barrier rubber came down onto the car recently and left two small dents but no paint damage and boot handle oxidisation. If required, I am advised by paint shop these can be fixed and resprayed for £300.(SEE PHOTOS). Other small niggles: Passenger window switch on drivers side intermittent. Temperature gauge intermittent. Drivers floor mat has lost the plastic socket attaching to the floor stud. Mechanically sound and drives perfectly and very smooth. I will be very sad to see the car go but I am moving abroad. Original alloy wheels would benefit from professional polishing / refurbishing but are very solid. Excelent car and great fun which will hold its value as well as being a practical car with a large volumetric boot when seats folded down. Valid Certificate of Insurance and supporting ID required before any test drive. Cleared payment in full before the car can be collected. Priced to sell at £3000 including registration. Serious enquiries only please. Contact Andy on 07557 332946. 11. Hi all, I was wondering if any of you have put different dash buttons/switches into your VW Lupo's, and if so which ones actually fit. I've seen some people suggest that a VW Golf (Mk4) has the same dash, and therefore button dimensions as a Lupo; I was wondering if this was true. Atop of this, what other vehicles - if any - share the same dash switch dimensions as the VW Lupo. Many Thanks
  12. Hi All, I was wondering if any of you have replaced, or added, a USB port into your VW Lupo's. My Lupo currently has 1 of the 5 possible buttons/switches being used (which is for heating the rear window) and I was looking at installing a USB switch their, I was wondering if any of you have done such a task before and what I would need to do so: (i.e.) what switch I need, what tools, etc. Many Thanks
  13. right, so i have a lupo 1.4 sport and recently it has had issues with the idle. basicly it wont hold its revs and it cuts out making it pretty undrivable. I have replaced the battery and the throttle body as i thought that would be the solution. but it still wont run. the car is also running very ritch. The o2 sensor on my exhaust i faulty so im wondering if that could be a cause. any help would be appriciated.
  14. Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had ever modded a VW Lupo to turn it into a 4x4. I'm not sure why I'm eve thinking about this to be honest, but I was doing some research and the Fiat Panda and VW Lupo are almost have the same chassis length (by about 30mm, 3cm, or so) - meaning a conversion wouldn't be too hard: just very expensive. Atop of this, when I was thinking of this idea I imagined the VW Lupo as something like a G-Wagen. A huge, raised, truck - but it's just a Lupo. I mean, back in the day a Fiat Panda (1) (1980) had just 59bhp and was a good 4x4 - so keeping a 1.4 (75bhp) or Sport (100bhp) or even a GTI (125bhp) VW Lupo engine should be enough for a 4x4 conversion - however, the weight would increase due to this proposed modification. Literally had a dream about this, so ignore my MS Paint master piece 👌 and I know it's a bit silly but I thought it would be a bit of fun. What do you think? (Basically the VW CrossLupo we never got)
  15. Hiya, I’m trying to sell my lupo... I love her but she’s poorly and due to personal reasons... I can’t afford to fix her and thanks to an ex, I don’t feel safe in her anymore.... she failed the mot as she has engine faults but I really just need some help... she has sentimental value to me so the fact I’m having to do this is heartbreaking but I’ve got no other option... these photos are of when I first got her, she’s been cleaned and had stuff done to her since including a new gearbox plus other things... help...

  18. So I have decided in the interest of the people that we need to dedicate a thread to @mattarosa. This is that thread. I shall start from today, as previous adventures will require memory recollection, and I’ve had a few gins so that can wait. I have take mattarosa’s virginity. Yes. You read this correctly. I have total control of it. That is, his IKEA virginity. Today, mattarosa drove @danno (who is a p***k) and myself to the metro centre, which is also somewhere he has never been, and we went into ikea. I am pretty sure that this is the best thing to happen to my little Matt since lupo cufflinks. Anywho, he had meatballs, mash and gravy. And I believe in my heart he was satisfied. And oh I also took his Parmo virginity. It’s been a double cherry popping time :) Mattarosa likes to drive 3 and a half hours from his little domain in Leek to the grand county of Durham to visit me! He brings me oatcakes in exchange for a swig of gin, hot food and a bed. No Rich, we do not have strange relations. Yes Pete you’re always welcome. No Martin I haven’t got a cat. Thank you for the amazing times... . Look out for more wild adventures of mattarosa coming soon :) Good evening.
  19. So after a fail on the MOT and deciding to sell the car for parts I have done some serious soul searching and have decided to keep the Lupo and put it back on the road. The list of jobs seems endless but this is it: Brake peddle not retuning to the up position. Have to lift with foot for the last 1cm to turn off the brake lights No reception on the radio this is a aftermarket head-unit (Do i need a signal booster?) New suspension and bushes all round (What is the cheapest way to do this?) Blown exhaust in various locations (What parts do i need for a full system) Cam Belt and Water pump (Total confused, What kit do i need and where is the best/ cheapest place for this?) Brake disks pads and hoses More to follow. Tighten up the gear linkage. (At some point) Gear box flush and oil change (Is there a liquid for this like engine flush? and best fluid to replace it with) Where to start and get this done? I am sure there is a list of parts as long as my arm. I will update this as it goes along. All feel free to chip in with any advice and help.
  20. Hi all! I'm Ionuț (I believe my name would be Johnny in English) and I'm from Bucharest, Romania. I bought during summer a not running 1.4 AUB Lupo, thought it had broken timing belt but there was much more, the exhaust camshaft being seized. It suposed to be a winter car, I usually ride a motorcycle and my wife drives our family car. Winter is here and I'm still working on the little Lupo, I fully rebuild the engine and these days trying to finish putting all back together. Merry Christmas everybody!
  21. Hi all, lurked for ages but finally pulled the trigger! Been wanting an SDI for quite a while and the right one popped up less than 3 miles from home last week! Went to view in the dark after work and decided it was good enough for what I needed. Red 04 plate SDI S with around 170k on the clock, full service history with many stamps and cambelt/water pump done last year. Drives really well and is totally standard, couple of issues such as creaking clutch pedal.. I'm assuming pedal box, do VW still cover (or partially cover) this job under warranty? Will probably change all the braking components and fit some coilovers and perhaps change wheels (wouldn't mind some banded steels). Other then that it's going to remain pretty standard as it's the daily mile muncher whilst my S3 sits on the driveway. Couple questions, how can I tell if it has ABS? And does anyone know of any insurance companies that will mirror my no claims discount onto the lupo? I seem to be getting quotes for more than the S3! And that's stage 2+ declared! Will try to get some photos up soon. Thanks
  22. Morning all, Thanks for the add to these forums. I see many nice looking Lupos around, and a friendly community. I'm currently in the market for a GTi, and had a couple of questions to try and narrow down my search. > Are any of you considering selling? I've a budget of between 2.5/3.5k. Not looking for an ultra low mile rare, just a well-maintained, rust-free example. Please point me in the right direction, or PM. > Regarding the spec; can anyone advise me what the rarest upgrades were to these little cars? I would love to get one with a sunroof and/or the heated leather seats, but appreciate these ones do come with a premium. Also would quite like a Raven blue, but know these are quite uncommon... I'm coming from a BMW Z4M Coupe & Honda S2000, so am hoping to enjoy the fizzy motor in the GTi whilst appreciating the tasty MPG. It should be first time driver friendly too, I'd put my other half on the insurance so she can get some driving practice. Thanks everyone. 🤑 Tom
  23. Hi all, I've been looking at buying a Lupo, preferable a 1.4 or higher, for almost four months now and I was wondering what I should be looking out for when inspecting one. Atop of this, what does should it feel like to drive a Lupo and - again - is there anything I should be looking out for when test driving one of these cars. Many Thanks Edit: Also once I have purchased the car are there any "standard modifications" that I should add to improve driver comfort, such as purchasing a new gear stick with an increased amount of length.
  24. Hi all, I currently do not own a Lupo but I am seriously looking to get one, however the Lupos rear bumper (atleast to be) looks out of place. As seen in the image below I have attempted to remove the 'lip' of said bumper, thanks to Microsoft Paint. I was just wondering how easy it would be to move said bumper from the Lupo and do such a body modification to the car, and if its even worth doing. I understand that such a modification is relatively petty, because this is the only thing that deters me from currently purchasing the car. Many Thanks.
