My Car Diary

Currently Driving

  1. So after owning my Lupo for just under a month, and after reading quite a few build threads, i have decided to do my own. She is a 02 reg, soft blue, 1.4 16v Lupo. My first car. So since owning her, shes been cleaned inside and out around 4 times and i havent had her a month yet! i mean... who likes to own a dirty car anyway? Any way, apart from all the cleaning i've done, i managed to take our the drivers side air vent, the seat handles and the binnacle and paint them gloss black. The binnacle didnt turn out as good as i expected because the lacquer started to run down and dried like it, but at least its gloss black now? primer... painted and fitted again... when i got the car, it only came with a passenger side seat handle, so i set to and ordered 2 brand new ones. found them on amazon if anyone else needs some? i also decided to remove and paint the covers that they slot into on the actual seat... and finally... i didnt want just gloss black air vents i decided to add a bit of a sparkle to it and added blue glitter! and fitted... heres one after i finished cleaning! i also got this through the post the other day, just need to remove my door cards then i can re trim them! sorry for such a long post, i'll be quiet for a bit now! what do you guys think?
  2. I have a 2000 lupo 1.4 auto, Will i be able to fit 15x7 wheels et20? or will it rub?

  4. Go to last page for most recent updates. Currently running 423bhp. How she stands at the moment. Hello, Before I start I just want to say a quick something to all those people who go on about people who pay for these kinda things and don't get a finger dirty! Its not that I don't want to do my own conversion, I'd love to do it myself but I don't have the skills required or the time that would be needed. Things that I can do myself like brakes, suspension and other bits and bobs I have but this is just too far past me, Lol! But hey if you wanna have a pop at me feel free lol! My car is a 1.4sport on a 1999 plate. I've already uprated the brakes to 280mm G60's on the front and it has black diamond drilled and grooved discs all the way round with black diamond pads as well! Its lowered on FK highsport silerline coilovers and is currently runnin on G60 steelies. The car is being done by PSI Tuning in Stoke on Trent who've had the car for about 3-4 weeks now. They've not long finished off the custom mounts and have the engine sitting where its going to be going. The engine is a 225bhp lump with a five speed box on it. Here are the pictures during.... Thanks for looking, I'll keep you updated on the progress. Sam.
  5. Hi guys, ive had the attached P0100 fault pop up on my car pointing to the MAF sensor but I can’t seem to locate it or find a replacement MAF anywhere that would fit. Am I being simple or does the Lupo gti not use a MAF sensor ? Bonus Fault - if anyone has any idea what the P1503 fault code could be for the alternator (I’ve already put a new alternator and belt on) you’d be helping big time lol
  6. I'm having a problem with my indictors, they won't work! my hazards work fine. i have searched the forum but no answer as to why. a new hazard switch/relay and a new stalk came this morning, changed them both and still no such luck! anyone have a solution?
  7. I recently bought a VW lupo 1.0 and it has an issue with the heater that it doesn't work on any setting it originally had an issue with water leaking into the car due to blocked drain holes below the windscreen. The car has had the entire interior removed bar the dashboard ,doorcards and the headliner everything else had been removed to be cleaned and dried out. After this had been done I moved onto the issue of the heater not working so I bought a used heater resistor which is known good but still didn't work. The fan is fully functional as was tested by being connected directly to the battery the fuse has been tested and replaced and is not the issue does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?
  8. Hi guys! Looking for a din cup and coin holder to fit MK1 VRS. Needs to be one from either from Lupo or 6n polowith square corners NOT the 6n2 one that has rounded corner! Anyone selling one that would post to Northern Ireland? Cheers!
  9. Hello, my gear linkage is heavy when moving the stick forwards and backwards. I’m guessing this is the cable or something connecting the gear lever to the box? Any ideas what I could do to fix this? thanks

  11. Hi Guys, Heres my Lupo GTI on around 110k, absolutely in love with this car :)! Got a decent list of mods but hoping to do more !
  12. VW Lupo 1.7 SDI For Sale It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to get rid of my lupo 1.7 sdi with it having failed it’s mot recently. i’ve been quoted £400 to get it repaired to pass (problems being shock absorbers, and suspension dust covers needing replacing, high labour cost jobs apparently). I just don’t use the car enough to warrant spending the money, and have neither the time or the skills to sort it out, and would rather it went to a good home and someone else got some use out of it. Year: 2002 mileage: 112k miles colour: light blue location: Didcot MOT: recently failed, but old one still valid for a few days (till end of jan 2019). the good: in good condition, zero rust anywhere, starts instantly every time. I’ve had this car for 12 years and have not mistreated it in the slightest. the bad: needs a damn good clean. Paint peeling off rear bumper. shallow dent in passenger door, windscreen wash system has slow leak, electric windows work but are sometimes temperamental. Price £400, but am open to offers
  13. Greetings, I just ordered an OBDEleven adapter to read&clear codes and also change some features of the car. Is it possible to code a function to shutdown power when key is off the ignition or the car is locked? (Even when the key is off you can still plug anything to the lighter port and use it. That's bad if you leave the equipment connected when away from the car for some hours. The car can run out of battery if you forgot your smartphone while charging it) I'm aware turning off all the power could result in shutting off the millage and time screens when the car is locked. Thanks in advance
  14. How do I remove the 2 attached wires ?? Tried pulling on them with no success any specific tool I can use ???
  15. Hello fellas, I'm thinking about changing my Lupo's lights to LED. From what I read it's a H4 bulb. If I get an H4 LED from Ebay will the car accept it with no handwork needed? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
  16. Hi all, I recently passed my driving test and my first car is a 2001 1L Lupo E, I've had it a little while and it was a bit of a banger when I bought it but I've had a lot of work done to it. So far I've had front wheel bearings replaced, all new tyres, new track rods (think that's what they're called), all wheels have been balanced, tracking has been done and I've had a new timing belt fitted. Anyway in a few weeks I'm planning a road trip with my girlfriend that's about a 3hr drive and its all on the motorway 😐 . I've noticed at about 55mph my car starts to shake pretty bad but it also gets progressively worse as I get faster (never been above 75ish mph) and just wondering if anyone has got any ideas as to what it could be so I can try to get it sorted before the big trip lol?
  17. £1100 ONO Lupo 1.4 S 75bhp, red and black cloth interior. 92k miles with service history, has been well looked after (I've had it for four years, 2 owners previously). Super reliable, cheap to insure and run, never had any major problems. It is due MOT next week which I will get sorted for new owner. The car will come AS IS, with all mods, which are as follows (off the top of my head):- Lowered on coilovers- 13" 8J ATS Classics with Yokohama tyres (minor stretch), decent tread left.- Hidden aftermarket backbox - sounds a little deeper than standard.- Small "old" style chrome mirrors & door handles to match.- Custom sprayed body coloured front bumper- Black badges- Small aerial.- Back de-wipered- Aftermarket head-unit (Sony) and subwoofer in boot (Vibe LiteAir Compact 12")I'm hoping someone else will enjoy it as much as I have, it has turned a lot of heads in the last few years! Perfect first car for someone who's just passed their test and wants to get involved in the modded car scene.Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Contact me on 07716 373510
  18. Hello! I'm a new owner of a beautiful 2005 Lupo GTI, all the way from Canada...I've had the car for 3 months and it has now decided to crap out, which makes me really upset. It's really hard to find a 6-speed transmission here. Especially for a car that isn't even readily available. If anyone can direct me to a site or someone that is willing to ship one over that would be awesome! Thanks TJ
  19. Hi all, I’ve recently purchase some lowering springs for a Lupo for my Seat Arosa. Two of the springs are quite large and two of them are much thinner with tighter coils. Would someone be able to tell me which ones go on the front and which way up they should go? I am under the understanding that the larger ones go at the front? It just seems to me like the small ones are much too small. I’ve attached a picture.

    CL Stickers

Toying with the idea of making some Club Lupo stickers, probably just the ones that have the website, or just say Club Lupo. If I were to, would anyone be interested? Not entirely sure of cost but it wouldn't be more than a few quid including postage. Cheers
  21. I’ve had the common clutch pedal box issue with my car and have repaired it myself. However after replacing the steering column the steering wheel can now move about an inch upwards with relatively low force. Also while turning the wheel it becomes loose and then harder to turn at certain places. Would this be due to some bolt I have missed out or something? If anyone could help me sort this issue I’d be very grateful! Thanks
  22. Issue with the LED clocks, anyone know how to fix this? Seems the display and back-light is not working.
  23. Anyone experienced a constantly clicking hazard switch? Besides when the indicators or hazards are on, something is constantly clicking. I’ve replaced the hazard switch but it’s still happening, any help appreciated, cheers
