  1. Hi All, Does anyone know of an elegant way to get Spotify playing in my loop? Right now I just have the stock cd player and tape deck so relying on stupid radio transmitters. Looking around the only way I can see it working is via front or rear AUX of a new head unit. cheers,
  2. finally got my Lupo Tdi, its my second car, the first was a 1.0 red seat arosa travelled 14 hours from Leeds to Cardiff and back to get her home He's a black tdi with full colour coded interior, which means blue/black leather seats and headrests, leather gaiter and handbrake cover, leather upper door cards, leather stitched steering wheel, cup holders, heated seats, sport alloys etc etc after a four hour clean: my old car: still lots to do so i'll keep you posted: - bee sting ariel - colour code badge Carbon fibre wrapped, ready to be fitted - paint callipers Red - sort out paintwork - fix gearbox (if i can?) - clean interior (boot full of dog hairs) All interior stripped and cleaned - Fix speakers (cracked) - paint door handles (scratched) Wrapped in blue carbon fibre - New alloys Tsw venoms painted and fitted, only temporary until Bathurst are refurbed - Lowering - new Grill FK grill honeycomb with GTI badge, ready to be fitted - rear spoiler bought, need to be painted and fitted - re-map? thanks for taking the time to look, any comments would be appreciated
  3. I'm looking for a gti spoiler but can't seem to find one. Is the Rieger spoiler any good? Does it have a gap between the roof and the spoiler? Also what do you do to the brake light if you put one on? And is it easy to fit?
  4. Okay so heres my first car. I bought her in January. She came, de-badged with front arches rolled. Tires were bald so got new boots all round. She came with wheel trims but after ripping them off to change tyres i realised she'd look alot nicer without the tacky things. The engine was absolutely disgusting inside and dutterssssssss. So i got a paintbrush and some gum remover and made her all fresh. slammed in some new blue sidelights Then i decided it was time to make my steelies look a little nicer... Got myself some smooth hamerite and a brush and gave them a touch up after sanding. Got some center caps from the local Scrap yard and im really happy with how they've turned out. Now heres some stuff i've put together... More stuff planned for the near future, Black roof soon! Thanks, Sam
  5. I would like to swap my 1.3 polo breadvan 1992 with all service history, past MOT's, 2x keys... for a 1.0 litre Lupo inbox me offers, or for pics look on here for pics http://www.pinkbike.com/u/Brettmac95/album/MY-first-car/
  6. Hi all! im a newbie to the vdub scene & modifying but will try! i no my account says member since 2012 but its a lie! i made an account years ago as i always wanted a lupo. now its 2013 and i finally have myself one! a little 1.4 100bhp in black only pic i have is my dp but pics will follow soon when more mods happen! cheers guys & gals
  7. Been trying to figure out how to get the positive wire from the sub through to the battery, can't see anywhere too ease the wire through to the battery, any ideas
  8. Does any one have or know anyone who has a: LUPO GTI SPOILER for sale please contact me on here or text me if so... Thank you, Owen.
  9. I have just installed a air induction kit on my lupo and there are 3 pipes left uncapped. I think they are called oil breathers and have very little use but to reduce pollution. Is there anyway of capping them because I've heard oil vapour comes out of them aswell as carbon monoxide? Also I've heard a catch tank can be used and filters to reduce pollution. Any ideas???
  10. Got bored of driving an everyday Corsa so decided to get a Dub. Picked up a reasonably clean 1.0 LUPO E 2000 W reg for a decent price. Done some work on it but only had it for a month, nearly ready for the road now. First task was rip the horrible bump strips off and de badge. (My Lupo on right) Next I ordered up a set of coilovers and fitted new discs & pads, Lowered it right down but was too low for a Daily Driver so raised the front a touch. Next to arrive was wheels, 15" x 7" Lenso Bsx Running 165/45/15, A bit of stretch but not too much.... just what I wanted. Apart from other small touches that's about all that I have got around to doing, pretty pleased with the results. Got a few bits of paintwork to fix up, exhaust and possibly a roof rack and i should be sorted. (Some glue left on from bump strip in this photo but it is gone now haha)
  11. Ok, so I find the standard headrests in the Lupo are EXTREMELY uncomfortable, does anyone know if the headrests from a 6n2 will fit? Thanks from Lewis
  12. Hey fellow Lupo'ers, Tom here. I feel that its about time that I make my on topic for my Loop. So I've been on these forums since last summer browsing for ideas and general boredom killing. So I past my test last May than 2 days kater jetted of to America to work at a camp for my summer., During this time my old man decided to go out and purchase me my very own Lupo... ( Not quite a surprise, only car I wanted to start of with and told him to keep an eye out while away) Anyway got back late September so only really been driving it for a few months so nothing really major done to it yet, but have so many ideas as long as my budget holds out... Got it completely standard minus a 'boy racer' style gear knob. Its a nice little Lupo Sport 1.4 16v ( had a soft spot for the centre exhaust so wanted this one more than anything ) It cost me £800, And insurance costs £1200, being 21 and first car. Had just over 10k miles so had been driven a bit, had to replace cam belt and door hinge but that's all that's really had to be done.... Although the horn and central locking are not working and drivers side window doesn't work;. This may get photo heavy pretty quick, quite a few saved pictures all ready to go. Hopefully if my picture uploading skills are on point your be able to see what I'm working with... Things I'd Like to do: Lower on CoiloversNew Wheels ( unsure on which ones)GTI exhaustBrand new head unit - Going Double DinNew speakers - preferably component ( unsure on make )New seats - Something better than 'Tom the mouse' seatsWind DeflectorsDe-Badge rearColour front and rear badgesBoot BuildVW Mudflaps Going to get new ones, as want OEM onesRed Stitched GaiterLED Number Plate LightsAuto Glym Vallet bag + productsLupo GTI HT leads) So this is me for now... will keep you posted on little things I have done so far, questions always welcome and be happy to share any ideas Adiós, Tom.... P.s I'm based in Herne Bay Kent, so I obviously be looking at going to some meets, never gone as a driver always a passenger.
  13. Hi guys. New car... Lupo GTI! Only mods so far are having it lowered and ive bought some g60 steelies, and put some 195 -45 - 15 goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 2 tyres on. Its like driving a go kart now! Oh and its also had a pretty sweet induction kit on. I bought it without the GTI badges on but i want them both back on. Any thoughts on what else i can do to subtly improve the interior and exterior? (I Used to have a polo 6n)
  14. Hi guys! not long had my lupo gti, Y Reg 2001. Ive seen some cool photos of interiors where lupos have had a docking station for their ipods and a drinks holder. I assume they're from another spec/model or manufacturer. Mine has the console with a cd player and cassette player. Where can i get one and where can i fit it? Any help would be great, Thanks! Liam
  15. I have just got a Lupo 1.0 and looking for a spoiler preferably from the GTI. Anyone got one for sale?

  17. So, we at Dirty Stancing and Garage Midnight acquired a block, in quite a sorry state, and I have taken it upon myself to make it not a sorry state. This little block has quite the lovely story behind it. Starting life in a very good friend of ours' Lupo, a Mr Robin Marriott. After serving its time in his little show stunner it had taken to having a bit of a smoke, so he stripped it out and was planning on re building it. In the mean time fitting a new, non smoky engine to his Lupo. This meant that this poor block sat on an engine stand never to be touched again... until Levi bought it, and put it in his garage... where it also didn't get much attention... and then we got our FILTHY hands on it. it a bit of a state I must admit... once we had had a good long think about what to do with it, still undecided, we stuffed it on the engine stand and started to deconstruct. things dont happen all that fast here... easily distracted, and like i said, we weren't sure where we were going with this so it was really for me to learn what can be done. Having never worked on an engine before, its all new to me, so its a learning curve. Got most of the front end off and started to clean this DUTeeeyyyy thing up. and the sump off and demucked! couple of bits bought whilst i had the cash moneys sitting there so its pretty much ready for the next few bits. Next on the agenda is get these valves out and have a go at porting and polishing this head. got loads of room to play with with these new gaskets and then we are going to fab a manifold to fit that so we can go wild! Then all there is to think about is cams, lightened flywheel and carbs, which is the decision we have come to for this build. The point/plan of this build is for me to learn, so there will be no sending it off for others to do. EVERYthing is going to (hopefully) be done inside the confines of Culo Diablo/Dirty Stancing/Garage Midnight. (which you can follow as individual hashtags on instagram) hoping to get around 160bhp from it, but to be honest like ive said, its just to have a go really. i'll update when anything new happens Safe x
  18. Hello I'm sorry if I'm gonna bore you with what seems to be a common problem that is mentioned on here a lot but please bear with me..... I've got a W reg Lupo E 1.4 AHW with 95k on it and it's started playing silly buggers with me. It began about about three weeks ago when starting her up in the morning, i turn the key and it appeared to start up fine for a second or two but then the revs would struggle to hold idle and then drop before finally cutting out altogether. The only way to get it started and keep it idling was to keep my foot on the throttle as I turn the key and for about 5mins holding a steady idle before moving off. Once the car had been running for a while and warmed up it would idle fine and if I went to the shops or whatever then got back in and started it up it would start up as if nothing was wrong, so it's only when cold that it happens. Now, this did already happen to me about 8 months ago and I had a mechanic look at it and check the codes and it turned out all that needed doing was having the throttle body thoroughly cleaned out and reset, which he did. After that it worked perfectly. So when this started happening again my first thought was the throttle body, but I also did some reading on here for other possible causes and figured the temperature sensor should be changed as well since that might explain why it would only happen when cold starting. So I roll my sleeves up and get dirty And did it fix it? Did it heck. So much for my hopes of a cheap and easy fix (just for once I wanted to fix my car instead of someone else). Oh well, back it went to the same mechanic who checked the codes and again he cleaned out the throttle body and by the time he finished it was starting up like normal - but then it was already warmed up by then. He said it was most likely that the throttle body was on its way out and if it starts doing it again then I should probably get a new one. Sure enough the next morning, starting from cold, it wouldn't play ball. Back to the drawing board. Now I gather a new throttle body isn't exactly cheap an I'm not exactly flush right now so I've just been living with it until I can find the cash. Plus I have a feeling, knowing my kinda luck, that I could change the throttle body and the problem will still be there! So I keep reading on here to try to figure out if there is another cause for the problem. Seems to be lots of mentions of EGR valves and stuff relating to that but I'm still trying to get my head around where and what all these bits are. Then a funny thing happened. After a very busy few days and seriously without meaning to do it, I found myself driving home on the M8 one night last week with the fuel level practically at zero. I mean the needle had barely moved off the bottom. Not good. Yes, I know you're not supposed to run the tank until it's empty and I am very sorry to you all, I've let you and myself down. I didn't intend to do it, honest. Anyway, I made it to the nearest garage on what must have been fumes alone and filled up. Now I know the car was already warmed up at this point, but I swear something was different when I got back in and started it up - it just felt more alive. And the next morning guess what? Started perfect first time, immediate take off with no forced idling for 5mins. And it did this every time I started her up.....for about 4 days. Now it's gone back to cutting out as before. So my question is could this have anything to do with the fuel pump/filter or something along those lines? Surely it can't be a coincidence that the problem disappeared after I almost ran out of fuel? Can there be a connection? Could running the tank almost dry have somehow woken up the fuel pump (pardon my wishy washy descriptions - not too good with the techno speak) back into normal operation, if indeed it was failing somehow and causing the problem? Cheers for reading all that! Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I promise not to run on empty ever again P.S. brilliant forums by the way, I've learned a ton of stuff on here. Thanks!
  19. Hey guys.. So When I bought my car my drivers side window was very temperamental worked when wanted too, then suddenly stopped working altogether. Switch clicked but window never went down. Today attempted to see if I can fix the problem myself, took door card off and switch out and gave the insides of the switch a clean and re-installed it. Now I plugged it back in and once again didn't work, however I swapped the passenger wiring around with drivers side and it worked. What I'm asking is if anyone has a solution on how to fix this, Is this a wiring issue and will have to buy a new wiring loom or will it be a miss connection somewhere?? Many thanks, Tom

  24. I've noticed on facebook there are plenty pages for the golf/corrado/polo etc and vr6/r32/gti etc but virtually nothing for the lupo. So outta half boredom I suppose I created one tonight to fill with pics of tidy lupos and other lupo related news/banter or whatever. Give it a like if you want: https://www.facebook.com/vwlupofans Also if anyone fancies being an admin gimme a shout.
  25. The Problem My brother in Law just got a Lupo 1.4 Sport 16v, AFH engine, Cable throttle. The revs keep dropping on it. Try and hold it at a constant RPM and it will be fine for 4 or 5 seconds then the revs will drop. Sometimes they drop lower than other times. Sometimes they come back up to where they were, sometimes they don't and it goes to idle level. Relavent History Aparently the guy who sold the car said it had had a new Throttle Body fitted at some point. What I have tried First Attempt Straight away I noticed quite a bit of oil in the air filter, coming in from the crank breather pipe. So I thought that might be the problem. Cleaned out the breather pipe as it was blocked with thick mayo, then cleaned out the crank breather filter/seperator box as that was blocked too. Then I noticed oil leaking from the underside of the intake manifold, so I opened that up and cleaned it all out and re-sealed with some high temp silicone gasket. While it was apart I noticed that the sensor on the left side of the Intake manifold (opposite side to the Throttle body) was covered in oil, so I sprayed a bit of electrical contact cleaner on it. I also cleaned out the inside of the Throttle body, just the butterfly area, I did not open up the black cover. So I put it back together and the problem was still there. Second Attempt I have mechanic friend who has just got an expensive new Snap-On fault scanner so I borrowed that and pulled the codes. But neither of us really know how to use it other than to pull engine codes and turn off engine/service lights. It came back with: 00519 Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00518 Throttle Position Sensor (G69) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 0530 Throttle Position Sensor (G88) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00523 Intake Air Temp Sensor (G42) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00282 Throttle Position Actuator (V60) Output Open Intermittant There was no engine light on, so I thought that perhaps these were old codes from when the old throttle body failed. So I hoped that cleaning them might sort the problem and I could also see if any of the codes came back. So I cleared the codes and the problem was still there. I was testing it while parked on the drive for about 40 mins and none of the fault codes have come back. Third Attempt It had a function on the scanner to 'Reset Throttle Body' so my mate tried it. Anyway it did its thing, we tried it and the problem was completely different and much worse!! It wouldn't hold stable revs at all. So we did a code scan and it came back with: 01087 Basic Setting Not Performed So I went and googled that while he kept trying the 'Reset Throttle Body' function and did all the actuator tests on the scan tool. When I came back out the code had gone and the problem was back to its original state. Phewww What Can I Do Next? - Can I open up the black plastic part of the Throttle Body and clean out anything in there? Anything else? after that I'm stumped....... Please Help!!
