  1. Hi there I've owned my Lupo GTi for about 10months now, I replaced the discs and pads all the way round a while a go now and today the car has started to make a horrible noise when I pull away, sort of sounds like the brakes when you press them at low speeds... It's not a squeak it's more of a judder? So I jacked it up and tried spinning the front wheels (not in gear with the engine running) and the wheels span about 1/4 turn then stopped them self is this normal ?! I'm a boat mechanic not a car mechanic so excuse me if I'm not 100% clear. Any help much appreciated cheers
  2. Hi im new here , used to be a regular on club gti and have started to be more so but as I now have a lupo and have been using club lupo for info, its only fair that I share my dabblings here too. So i'll start: Random collection of photos: Car after I picked it up how its sitting now the wheels are ibiza oz's and the same size as the bathursts they replace but lighter. Also a steal on ebay for £104 lol. Car is now also polybushed all round and sitting on AP coilovers. My goal with the car is to make it light but as its my daily but useable too. This will start moonlighting as track **** next year. I've started stripping the interior, all thats left is front seats, front door cards and dash. Made some ally checkerplate matts. picked these up too, not sure how long my back will take them going to work but guess thats the fun?! just waiting for some cds tube to come then i'll get them mounted and weld a harness bar in. Looking to go down the same route engine wise as I did with my mk3 and 1.8t it. thanks for looking

  4. VW Lupo GTI - 99k miles- FSH £2,995.00 Andrew - 07557057522 Lupo GTI 1 of less than 900 left Black 5 speed 99000 miles Full service history MOT December 2015 (Only advisory not taken care of is rear discs pitted) Since owning I have spent over £700 (Front discs and pads, service, front suspension bushes, arms and ball joints, door lock mechanism, electric window switches, 3 tyres and probably more) Car has some small faults : Passenger door squeaks Small crack in rear bumper (pictured) Scuff on front bumper (pictured) Stain on rear carpet Paintwork not immaculate Overall it's a very good nippy car that's never let me down and always put a smile on my face but I need a diesel for work as I'm now doing a lot more miles. Only modification is a "back box delete" which makes the exhaust a bit louder, I like it but I have purchased a good second hand replacement back box to go with the car if you want to change it back. It won't come with the double din head unit as pictures it will have the standard Volkswagen unit. I thought I had sold the car but now I'm re listing due to a time waster. Serious buyers only. Sad to see this car go but it needs an owner who isn't going to do so many miles. £2,995.00 Andrew - 07557057522

  6. Hello! Found this ad on autoscaut24.es . Black Lupo GTI with "open air" sunroof. This modification really existed or its just aftermarket modification? http://ww3.autoscout24.es/classified/271067150?asrc=st%7Cas
  7. Hi I have owned this car for just over two months now and I can't fault it its a great car!- nippy, sticks to the road, responsive... But I need something bigger, as much as I love small VWs. It's done 94k miles, it's got MOT till December, it's completely standard apart from a backbox delete so the exhaust is a bit louder (sounds good). Body work and paint is good condition apart from a scuff on the front bumper. Interior is good for the age and I've got stacks of history for it. The top end was rebuilt 10-12k miles ago with new valve seats, valves, head gasket, timing belts etc. (So engine drives spot on, gearbox is good too! (This is the 5 speed model). Since owning it I've replaced both drivers side window switches, drivers door lock mechanism, front pads and discs, oil and filter change, air filter, got the tracking done and spent a lot of time polishing the car. All in all it is a great car but I do need something bigger for work and sadly can't afford to run two cars at the moment. Car is fully hpi and accident clear etc. I am looking for £3200 for the car and it is located in Torquay (South Devon). Feel free to message me for any questions you have about the car, cheers.
  8. Make: VW, Model: LUPO GTI MOT: expires 8th Oct 2015, no advisories on last MOT TAX: £205, Engine size: 1598 CC – 5 speed Mileage: 108,700 Fuel type: Unleaded Location: Durham 2001 GTI in Black Only slight modifications are Eibach Prokit Lowering Springs and Team Heko wind deflectors otherwise its as it came off the production line including electric sunroof. It’s a fantastic example, everything works as it should and comes with 2 sets of original VW Keys. I’ve had it since 2011 when it had 102K on the clock and have had the following done: • 2011 Major Service, New Door Check Straps MOT • 2012 New Radiator • 2012 New Bootlock Surround (cosmetic) • 2012 MOT, new indicator and wiper stalks, new hinge on driver’s door • 2012 New Front Grille and Badges. New interior grab and door lock handles (cosmetic) • 2012 New VW floor mats (cosmetic) • 2013 MOT, Full service • 2014 MOT, New Silver Battery (3 year warranty I think) • 2015 Full Service, New Front & Read Pads and new nearside rear caliper 108K on clock • Lots of cleaning, washing, polishing and waxing! Interior – It is immaculate - no rips/damage to upholstery, trims, carpets, dash, etc. Comes with almost new VW floor mats and I will throw in the original VW GTI mats that are still in decent condition. 2 sets of alloys on offer, the original Bathurst alloys are in very good condition, just a few scuffs but nothing nasty, all 4 tyres have plenty of tread left (Uniroyal Rain Sport). Also includes a set of Lenso BBX (see main set of pictures) that I use in the summer, all 4 tyres (Yokohama S-Drive) also in great condition – almost like new! Full stamped service history and comes with original booklets in VW wallet that is stuffed with old MOTS and receipts etc. Bad Points Very small dink on in the rear drivers side wheel arch, car came to me like this and it’s never bothered me enough to get it sorted, also a few age related surface blemishes but no rust – as you will see on close inspection and from the pictures it is all in great condition and looks amazing! Also the high rear brake light in the spoiler does not work – it was like this when I bought it and is a common fault on the GTI, I have sourced a brand new replacement unit with fitting instructions but not got round to fitting it – I will include this in the sale. Starter motor makes the common quirky squawk noise – nothing wrong with it and is a common occurrence on GTIs – it was doing this when I bought it and hasn’t affected it starting at all. Price: £3,800 – if you meet the full asking price you will get the 2 sets of alloys. Anyone wanting to negotiate a lower price, just gets the Bathurst’s – wheeler dealers be warned I am not in a rush to sell and believe the asking price is a fair one. It’s been well looked after by me and the previous owners so you will be getting a cracking little car, runs like a dream, looks fantastic and it’s been a pleasure to drive and tinker with over the last few years, I will miss it! I think that’s about it. Anyone wanting to test drive will need proof of insurance for this car otherwise I’ll be doing the driving. Feel free to ask any questions, PM me to arrange viewing etc Photos will appear below very soon!
  9. So after a rocky start to Lupo ownership I finally have my gti up and running. Bought myself a 73k silver gti from a dealer for it to start losing oil straight away. After a lot of negotiating, the dealer payed for an engine rebuild, so now I have a fresh engine! The plan is to keep the car oem. I intend on driving it across Europe next year and love a good roadtrip, so I'm getting it set up for that. I've added AP coilovers, ordered a whiteline anti roll bar. And will be putting 15mm spacers on the rear. Then just tidy up the bodywork and alloys. Not sure whether to take the wind deflectors and tinted windows off?

  12. Hi, my old cluster just died.. No light, no revcounter, no speed, no gas, no water temp - just dead. Ive cheked all the fuses, and they're okay! It stopped working after jumpstart :-(. BUT then I ordered a GTI cluster just because it nice, and there is a new engine upcoming ;-) now the problem is that I plug in the cluster, got ignition on the car and the light ind the cluster worked and the fuel and water temp, then I started the engine but there was still no rev counter or speedo? And all the lights ( airbag, service, abs, just everything ) - is showing! i really hope that some of you can help me! Best regards Frederik Hald Sorry for my English ;-)
  13. Hi all, I don't yet own a Lupo GTI but I am on the lookout for one. Assuming the car is standard, what would be the recommended upgrades for the car, in order of the maximum impact they would have i.e. best upgrades first. Before the recommendations come in, I am not into changing the styling of the car but upgrades that make it perform better or address common issues are on my list eg better handling, better sounding etc. I look forward to reading your suggestions

    GTI Hunter

Hi all, New here (posted in the Intro section) and on the hunt for a Lupo GTI. I have to admit, these cars did not factor into my thught process before I started looking but having come across this interesting little car, it is growing on me. I have joined here to find out a little more and hopefully get some advice from the Lupo community ! I am hoping to see one at the weekend and had a few questions: - It is a 5 speed, should I be worried given the Polo rep ? Should I hold out for a 6 speed ? What is the difference when driving (other than extra gear ) when driving between the two ? - What kind of mileage can these engnes/drivetrain do before needing expensive work ? - Is Red a good colour for these cars (I haven't seen on in the flesh yet) ? - Other than rust on roof and checking the electric windows, are there any other common faults I should look/check for ? Thanks for any help and advice you can provide

    Rust ??

Hi all, In my hunt for a Lupo GTI, I went to see a red one today. Mechanically it has been well looked after with a load of receipts for recent mechanical work carried out. Unfortunately, the same care that has been applied to the mechanics did not extend to the body. One of the more worrying things was paint bubbling (like you typically see where rust is coming through from the metal underneath) on the lower part of the front wings, where they meet the sills. I understand that these wings are meant to be aluminium so it is baffling me why the paint should be bubbling as if there is rust. Does anyone have this on their cars and what could be causing it ? Also, does anyone know how much a fully body respray might cost on one of these cars. Not a windows out job but more of a freshen up of the paint given it might need some body repairs and a new rear bumper ? Thanks:)

    New Blood....

Hi all, No I am not a vampire but I thought it would be courteous to introduce myself with my first post. I suspect I maybe older than the average member age here being in my early 40's but on the bright side (I think), I remember the days when the first Golf GTIs, the Renault 5GT TUrbo, XR3is, RS Turbos etc were a common sight on our roads ! I currently own a few cars but would really like a small, fun and spirited littel hatchback for running around town in. I had narrowed it down to a few cars such as a Civic Type-R, Renault Clio 172/182 or Peugeot 106 Rallye and then I came across the Lupo GTI. The little Lupo is on my short list and I am impressed at the following it has - looking forward to learning more......
  18. Does anyone on here have a custom exhaust on the GTi, from the likes of long life? I'm looking to get mine done there as i can get it fairly cheap. Just would like to see if anyone has a decent video of how theirs sound. Thanks
  19. Who was in gravesend tonight in a silver slammed gti, spotted at lion garage, I went round you and you followed for ages looks sooo clean! Come on own up who it was needa ask a few questions about wheels etc
  20. Guys, at the moment I'm trying to put a Y Reg Polo GTi engine into my Lupo (1.4 AHW). I know the engine is the same as the Lupo GTi engine, but all the wiring etc. is all different. Has anyone done this swap before? I've looked on haynes, but they only did a manual for the normal polo for that era, I can't find one for the GTi, so far as I can tell. Anyone got any advice? Did they only do one spec of the polo GTi for that era, or did they do more than one trim level? Cause if they did i guess the wiring would be different depending on the trim level? Unfortunately, I don't know the full reg of the car the engine is from, I only know that it came out of a Y reg polo GTi. Any help would be seriously appreciated. -Chris
  21. Hey everyone, I bought a lupo gti yesterday, then I am going to do quite abit of work on, till I insure it next feb, already drive a polo 6n but fancy something abit faster, got good plans for the loop and will keep my thread up to date with the latest and greatest mods.
  22. Hi guys. New car... Lupo GTI! Only mods so far are having it lowered and ive bought some g60 steelies, and put some 195 -45 - 15 goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 2 tyres on. Its like driving a go kart now! Oh and its also had a pretty sweet induction kit on. I bought it without the GTI badges on but i want them both back on. Any thoughts on what else i can do to subtly improve the interior and exterior? (I Used to have a polo 6n)

  24. ok so im trying to find a few part numbers, from the elaswin pic below i need No16 and No20 (also what is 20 for?), also from the second photo i need the 2 parts arrowed, one being a bracket which sits under the headlight and bolts to the wing, the other clips behind washer jet hole (assumingly keeping it secure). Any help at all would be appreciated, been searching for hours and cant find any info. cheers
  25.
