  1. Hi all, So I've been reading things (yeh I know), I'm just in the process of renewing all my brakes and lowering the sdi on coilovers. I've read some things (on here) that if you lower then the rears could lock on braking due to them overcompensating for increased load on the rear..? I've never heard this before but my car doesn't have ABS. Has anyone had to adjust their brake bias to counteract this? If so how? Or is this all a load of BS? I wouldn't normally be bothered but I don't play with brakes! Cheers
  2. So I’ve been a member on here for a few months now, never really posted much. I bought the Lupo for £450, had a few mechanical problems, I broke the gearbox when I first started driving so had my dad sort that. I wasn’t really going to do much to the car as I didn’t really think I’d keep if for a long time. Slowly started adding stickers to the back and thought that’s all that I’d do as I didn’t think it was worth spending much on a £450 car. Here he is today, haven’t finished with him at all. I bought a few things and before I knew it he’s completely different to how he was when I first bought him. Haven’t really got many photos of the “in-between” stages. But he was a standard Lupo 1.4s. Nothing more, now he’s a little more exciting. So here he is just after I bought him. As standard as you can get. This is about half a year later, as you can see, quite a bit has changed. (Lowered, modded lights/ indicators , Tarantula alloys, wind deflectors, a load of other stuff I can’t think of.) Rear end, partially smoked and yellow tinted lights, wiper blank, stickers. Pressed plates. Splitter. Still a load to be done, spacers are on their way for the rears, fronts will then be done eventually, got some plans for the steering wheel to be changed and hopefully straight through exhaust at some point, body work needs some attention and the wheels need a good refurb. oh and here’s the gearstick and gator. Cherry/Pro Bomb fitted. Mainly bought for the fact it’ll annoy the people that live nearby. 25mm Rear Spacers fitted also. Still need to get passenger side rear wheel painted gold, along with returning the others.
  3. Hello everybody! I've been posting my updates in the 'New Members' section but as I've done a little bit to her now, thought I'd put it up here. Nothing major will happen with the car (I don't think), but I'd like to slowly improve her and show others what can be done on a fairly tight/resonable budget. Anyway here's the story so far..... After driving my mums car for 10 months and saving up, I've finally been able to afford my own car! Being a long time lurker within this forum looking at various topics and advice from other users, I decided to buy a Lupo! I bought it in May with 62,000 miles on the clock with service history to back it up and it's only done 10,000 miles in the last 10 years! To date, I've covered about 1,500 miles including a trip to Goodwood for Players! It has great character and I love the quirky features such as the dials and pop up front seats! Mods wise I plan on lowering it at some stage and probably change the wheels for something nice and subtle with a bit of dish! So here she is when I got her...... 1st thing I was to change the cambelt just in case and also put a new seal around the gearbox as it was leaking oil A couple of months after, I let my mum drive the car for the 1st time, which resulted in a small fire and new clutch Safe to say she won't be driving it for a while! After that I saved up for some G60 steels which had come off a MK2 Golf which just needed a little cleaning. It's clear on this pic that she needs to be a bit lower! I also made some Lego dustcaps which I'm quite proud of! Then the exhaust middle box completly corroded so it sounded like a complete aninmal (until you saw it)! That dented the savings for the coilies, so I had to wait a bit more! Finally got the suspension bought a couple of weeks ago courtesy of Richard at Venom Motorsport. I read the pros and cons on here for the arguements between lowering springs/coilovers and also budget coilies/mid-range coilies, and in the end decided for a set of FK AK Street coilovers. Got booked in at a local garage for the use of the ramp and help me out a bit, until.... my alternator broke So the booking that was for the suspension was instead used for fixing the car, again. Here's the new one in.. However yesterday I finally got round to fitting the coilies (at last) and thanks to a fantasic guide on here how to fit them, it was fairly straight forward! Fronts are straight forward - take the old off and put the new ones back in the same order, but the rears were a little tricky to get to! This is the hard-to-get-to bit! It's just getting the tracking done and I'll get to see her after work today! Safe to say I can't wait and I'll put the pics up here! Future plans? I'm thinking about an iduction kit (just for the noise) and possibly a rain catcher exhaust I hope you like my thread
  4. Selling a full set of Eibach Pro lowering springs for a Lupo Gti 4764777 These will lower the car by 30mm Only been on the car for around 4 months. Purchased for in June 2016 and fitted in December 2016 Looking for £100.00 for the full set. No silly offers! Could post at buyers cost, but prefer collection from Worcestershire.
  5. This is my Volkswagen Lupo, it's a 3D 1L, 2003 painted yellow. This is what it looked like when I first bought it. However it did not stay the this way. My dad works in a garage on the island and so of course did some work on it for me. He painted the bumpers, fitted brand new gear cables, put four coats of polish on and a new grille, took out the dents and a few other bits and pieces. This is the finished piece, needless to say I love it, especially for a first car. Of course, being the lunatic that I am. I decided to go off-roading with a couple of my buddies. And I'm sure you're all aware that these cars are not mean't for driving off-road. I didn't cause too much damage, just smashed the rear brake light, and scraped some of the fresh new paint work. I am going to be repairing it after Christmas, in the meantime I'm getting a few appearance upgrades such as a new seat trims, possibly a black VW badge, and adding some more decals.
  6. Hi all, I recently bought some lowered coil springs for me Lupo, I have done the back ones but how do you remove the front ones? Cheers, Luke
  7. Hello all. I've owned my little 1.0 Litre Lupo for just a bit over a year. I thought now is the time to finally give an in depth view of how it is sitting currently and how it got to there. This is gonna be very in depth and may be a bit boring to read or look through but I honestly just want to have a permanent place to look at the progression of my little car for my own satisfaction. If even one person finds it interesting then that's just a bonus! So here we go. Lets have a quick look at the car when I bought it in October 2014. I was so excited to just be able to drive any car. A lupo is definitely not what came to mind for my first car but it was volkswagen, with nice blue dials! ooooh very fancy I thought. Now here is how it sits as of around Ocotober 2015. One year later. (Bottom right photo is actually a few months ago, no splitter and some other small things not done to it) Never thought I would still even own this car by now nevermind have it sitting like this. But hey I have grown attached and I'm super excited for where its gonna end up. Lots of stuff still planned for it! Just recently bought a 1600cc 16 valve Polo GTI engine so...yeah Obvious influences from other members of the lupo community. Club Lupo's Haakon colour choice is probably the most obvious. Don_Larss from instagram totally inspired me to put arches on this thing and there plenty of others Ive stole ideas from. So thanks to all who have helped. Anyway its 2:00 in the morning so I'll update this another time with the actual progression from start to now. Then I'll hopefully start posting updates to the finish of this thing! If any of you have read this thanks!

  12. Hello, A quick bit of advice needed please. My car was on JOM coilovers when I bought it. Last weekend I took the adjuster rings out on the rear to drop it lower. Looks good. The car is currently in the garage for a CV Joint replacement. My problem is, while they had the car on the ramps the back axel dropped and a rear spring fell out. I've been advised that this will be a MOT failure. MOT not due til april. Has anyone else come across this issue before? Is there a way of bonding the top of the spring to the body, or will this just creak. Thanks for your help, sarcastic humorous responses welcomed.

  14. Just wondering, what width of wheel will fit onto an arosa without having to roll the arches and deal with camber? also what offset is needed?
  15. Hey! This is my lovely little 1.4s OpenAir Lupo, I got her standard, ran perfectly, bar the leak from the roof (now fixed so I don't go round a bend and get soaked!) Since then I've replaced the standard 13" rims with my 15s from the golf( stupidly sold my bbs with the car -.- ) but it's worked nicer than I expected Car has also been lowered, it needed it ... I have many plans for this car, so watch this space Gee x
  16. I'm going to get some lowering springs for my Lupo 1.7 SDI, but ive seen springs advertised for different engines like the 1.0L and 1.4 petrol. Will these still fit any Lupo as long as they're for the same year car? I cant see why they wouldnt.
  17. So I have lowered my lupo 1.0 and I have been driving it for a while like this now, I have had a few scares though when I turn the wheel and my car just carrys on going forward.. The tyres are fine on it and I have been trying to get the tracking done but it's to low to fit the tracking gauges over my tyre because of my arches .. I also was rid of this in even camber i have got from lowering it .. I am lowered on ta technix coilovers on the front and adjustable springs on the back (taken the adjuster cups off because I wasn't low enough) any help would be greatly appreciated .. Thanks
  18. Hello everyone, Has anybody got any pictures of a lupo sitting on 60mm springs? And which ones are best to get? I've decided I don't want to go too low, but I really want to see what a 60mm drop looks like. Thanks in advance. TD.
  19. As title says. Looked like a dude driving
  20. Hey everyone new member from Wakefield I bought my first Lupo and its a 1.4 s in Jazz Blue! I was just wondering what to do with it, as in mods. I want to lower it and get some Weller Wheels for it! however im no good with the mechanical side of things and have no clue where to start! Do i lower the car first or put the new wheels on? I've been looking at some 7x13 Weller Wheels, would i need the arches rolling? LUPO.jpg here she is if the picture works, ive not come to grips on how to use this yet Help would be appreciated! Frudd!
  21. Hi, I have lowered the Lupo by 60mm front and back..... On lowering springs (Student Budget)..... When I steer during parking etc so under 5mph I get a horrific knocking 'dunt'. It happens on both sides and believe it to be something to do with the suspension towers. Can anyone shed any light on the problem? Thanks, Paul
  22. Okay guys I'm looking for advice on what compressor, air tank etc. to have... I was thinking along the lines of a 12v compressor, 2/3 gallon air tank and some 12v solenoids Any of you run the kit?
  23. Its been almost a year since I bought our 1.4s Blue Lupo. I feel its about time it had its own thread in regards to the work we've done. Last year, sitting in a pub in Conwy I thought it would be nice to suprise my wife with her first car. She had past her test 5 years previous, but due to pregnancy and birth of our first (and then second) child, she never got round to driving. I sat in the Liverpool arms in Conwy with my brother in law looking at a little picture of a Blue 1.4s Lupo for sale. Maybe it was the beer, as it was a random purchase. I had the cost and how much I was prepared to invest in some 'fixes'. The advert said the car was in good condition, was tidy, had covered 68,646 miles and had 12 months MOT. At £900 it felt worth a punt. So I bought it. Here are some pictures of the car from the advert: It looked fairly tidy and standard. The day came to collect. When I got there the car looked ok, though I noticed the drivers and passenger side door drop, with the drivers side being quite severe. Fair game I thought for the age. Body work was great, small indent on left rear panel, but other wise, great. I handed over the cash and took the keys and documents and made my way. Thats when the issues started. First off the steering wheel was off centre, and there was a lot of play in the steering wheel. Then there was the gearbox noise. This was horrendous in gears 3 and 4 - later I read up and found this is a common issue with Lupo gearboxes and bearings. Then the engine warning light came on - due to low oil levels. A couple of stops on the motorway and fill up of oil helped this. The drinks holder was snapped and there was no stereo. I started to feel gutted, this was nothing like advertised. I contemplated taking the previous owner through ebay and raising an issue through them to get my money back. Part of me felt like I could get it all fixed and it would be a good little car. The previous owner (lets call her Katie) was a ****, she did not want to know, she tried to make out there was nothing wrong with the gearbox, that the steering was fine etc. I couldn't be bothered, plus it was my own fault for being a plonker and buying a car in this way (on the spur). I decided to get the car sorted and give it a good home. So I had the following carried out soon after purchase: * New door straps and hinges * Dodgy temp sender replaced * Gearbox rebuilt by Top Gear Transmissions in Liverpool - absolutely brilliant! * New clutch - fitted by Top Gear Transmissions at time of gearbox work * Bought a new steering column from ebay (as the existing was was totally knackered) * New Cambelt kit * New Catalytic converter * Full service The car was starting to come together. The gearbox is now sweet and I caught it in time, so its the original box with new bearings and it feels good to drive. I also removed the tint window film and also replaced the 'blacked out' rear lights for standard ones. Bought off a nice chap on this forum. When the steering column was fitted, there was no airbag giro, so the airbag light was on - this was taped up for the short term. Here are some pics: This was how the car was until this month. I have now carried out the following: * New airbag giro * VCDS cable purchased * New drinks holder * Sony stereo fitted * New parcel shelf (previous owner had made their own). * Interim service * Passed MOT During the year, I bought some 15" CMS Alloys 7J ET38 off my brother inlaw who has Yellow Lupo Sport (Curly Custard) and they sat in my garage for months. Not sure whether to keep them or sell them - I'd had enough of paying out and didn't want to put the new wheels on the car at the height it was. So in January I bought some Koni 40mm lowering springs and some new bump stops and tops mounts from Dale. And today I had them fitted, with huge thanks to JoeA - he really is a top lad, helped me out a few times, and his mate Brian. Here is a pic of my car loaded up ready to go and get 'sorted': Here is Joe and Brian working hard: Here are some pictures of my lovely Lupo now - the wheels have 195 / 50 and I think they fit the arch nicely at this height: So there you have it. This is a smashing little car now, a lot of money spent - but I've given it a good home and brought it back up to standard. A big thanks to JoeA who's been brilliant with the VCDS and helping get that sorted and also today - this car looks great thanks to you. The next thing is to replace the thermostat as its stuck open, which I will do tomorrow. Other than that, I'm going to enjoy it, and my wifes driving it now too. cheers for reading/ looking. Matt
  24. has anyone got any pictures with theirs lowered 40mm, preferably with 15" wheels, just getting an idea of what it would look like because I want to lower mine, but keep the stock dampers, also would 60mm be to much with my stock dampers? thanks
  25. Good evening all! I've been around on this forum for quite a while now and thought I would introduce myself and my little car now I have some photos and stuff done to it! Bought her actually a couple of years ago now before I passed my test, 35000 miles on the clock for £1900 and in sweet condition! She stayed standard for like agesss 'cause I was a poor/lazy A level student with no job. But lo and behold I've joined the 9 to 5 crew and finally have MONIES. So pic of her standard when I bought her So far mods are: Lowered 40mm Spax springs Crap Vibe subwoofer thing & Sony head unit (needed my choonage) Black Badges (upside down back one 'cause it kinda resembled an 'M' ) De-wipered rear Mudflappers ... and that's about it. PLANS: Coilies Wheels Door mirrors - got some cheeky little chrome bullet style ones already, pic up soon. Colour code bumpers Thinking of some custom graphics hmm.. Some more shiny stuff Enough speech, here she is as of now ....and you may ask why "Nody" - my dyslexic friend attempted to write "Noddy" on the back of my car but missed out a 'd' so Nody she became. Teehee. Ciao.Mx
