  1. Hey @All. This is my first post on here! I need some advice: I need my rear to come down 1-3cm more. Adjuster rings are out, Cup is left there. It's an FK AK Street Any ideas? Took the cup out and seemed wonky and spring wasn't held by the plate underneath
  2. I picked up a 1.4 lupo the other day and want to sit it on 60mm lowering springs all round, will it be an mot failure?! Cheers

    Lowering help

Hi guys I'm really wanting to lower my lupo when I get enough money to, I was wondering if you could help me by showing me yours and saying how many mm you are down, so I can get an idea of how low I'll be looking to go. Ideally I'd have it on the ground but I need to drive it everywhere without too much worry. But pictures and amounts would be appreciated. Thanks - Ollie
  5. Hi, needing springs or coilovers , will buy lowering springs, coilovers or swap plus cash if you're selling the car and want to make it stock again i live in fife Scotland closest preferably
  6. You must forgive me as I am not sure if I am allowed to try and sell my car in this section of the site. I have got a VW Lupo 1.0 MPI for sale though. 2002 Reg on 02 plate, It is a very clean car inside and out with very few and minor bodywork damage. By this I mean 2-3 tiny scratches that are difficult to see and NO DENTS whatsoever. I am selling her due to the fact I bought the car in the pretense that I was going to make her a very nice first car that would be loved by all, however, sadly I am no longer be able to make her my dream first car. I bought her in October 2015 off of a lovely family in Norfolk who looked after the car very well and didn't modify her ever. As soon as I saw the car I bought it and then collected the following weekend. It was MOT'd the day after I put the deposit down and it passed the MOT with flying colours. I have covered around 200-250 miles in this car as I have not yet passed my test and I am still on L Plates. Like I said my mission was to turn this stock VW Lupo into a dream first car. I bought a set of coillovers for her and have lowered her quite a lot at the front, as for the rear she is lower than stock but not stupidly low. I also bought a set of 15" Alloy wheels off of my friend however they wasnt in the best condition so I spent one weekend sanding them down and re-spraying them. They do NOT look brand new but look a lot more respectable and cleaner than they did when I got them, I also put 2 new tyres on these so the wheels have 4 decent tyres. Since I have had the car, I have spent a lot of time and money on it. So far since I have had her I have Changed Cambelt and Water Pump Alternator Belt Offside - Front Bottom Arm Sidelights (Now a bluey colour) Rear Number Plate lights which are brighter and make the car look nice and bright Suspension (Lowering The Car) A new door strip on the Passenger side as the other one was loosing its stickyness I bought a Cherrybomb rear exhaust box to put on the car but have not yet got round to putting it on so will come seperate to the car but so far have not touched the engine/ exhaust system at all. It also has Brand New Team Heko Wind deflectors on it which I haven't yet taken out the box The car comes with EVERYTHING to have it put back to stock, A cherrybomb rear box, Wind deflectors, All paperwork, 2 keys, and lots more. Please feel free to contact Cameron on 07712509822 if you have any questions about the car. Thank You for taking the time to read this.
  7. So! i thought it was about time i started posting on here instead of simply creeping... so ill start from the beginning. bought the loop close to 3 years ago, in a sorry state, but all the beauty of "bought not built" my apologies also for the mega long first post. so naturally i started into the cosmetic things before the mechanical... naturally the first thing was wheels, picked up a lovely set of bbs rms in fabulous condition for a steal, only problem being they are 7.5j and 8j. with the other whip and the mates 306 I know what you may be thinking... wide enough right? no sir... the front arches were rolled and the rears rolled and pulled heavily, using alot of *ahem* isopon. and for some reason i beliveved camber was necessary... after all that fuss was over the obligatory polishing and waxing frenzy began... then came the boot building.. rashest job you will ever see from the few pictures... who said max power was dead?
  8. Hi Guys, Basically I've got rid of the old coilovers and replaced them with new ones. They are TA Technix which are not the best, but I'm on a budget. The coilovers are adjusted the exact same height and are tightly bolted in etc. There is no unwanted movement. Yet, when I drive it's quite bumpy on a smooth road and the steering is light and pulls sharply to the right at times. I know that I may need tracking done, but wondered if you guys had any ideas and could help me out. Cheers
  9. Hi guys, just introducing myself as i am new here. After looking through everyone else's i thought id finally post some pics. Anyway i have got myself a 1.4s in good condition in storm grey with exceptionally low mileage, just 17000, 04 plate with a couple of minor marks. For now i have just made some minor mods to start with. such as de badged rear, stubby aerial and pressed plates. Hopefully going to get some coilovers in a few months and then go from there. After a wash and wax i decided to blitz the interior. Stripped back my rusty drums and painted them black. Apologies for the super dirty arch liners they are next on my list. Also painted my rusty steels.
  10. Planning on buying some new coilovers on Friday(pay day) as I've just sold mine. Looking at spending up to £200, so budget coilovers basically, what would people recomend? Preferably ones that go the lowest, I know I can take adjusters/helpers out and what not! Ones that have caught my eye are the TA-TECHNIX kit on eBay for £173 Cheers in advance

  13. Hi, i'm new and have had my car about 5 months, it's a silver 1.4s and when i bought it it had only done just over 21,000 miles and had a fsh, the car wasn't in great condition and had a nasty dent in the drivers rear quarter. Here it is when i got it home(only have the one picture) First thing i did was paint the badges and lower it on JOM coilovers which left it looking like this for a while. I then bought some Borbet A reps which never made it onto the car along with a set of banded steels. I still have the banded steels, they're 7x13 and 8x13, if anyone is interested in them please PM me.(you can see the terrible repair job that someone done to it) My pedal box then snapped completely and i had the fun job of replacing it . I was surprised that it snapped on such low mileage. After i fixed the pedal box i booked it into the body shop to have the rear quarter repaired as well as both bumpers colour coded and a new indicator panel.=, leaving the car looking like this That isn't me in the pictures by the way. Me and my brother left my friend a nice surprise after work Saturday i got some new wheels and chopped the rear springs for more lows and this is how it currently looks
  14. Hey guys I recently lowered my cars on TA Technix coilovers and after having them for two days they have already started chewing through tyres. I think it might be because of the profile on my tyres which are 65, but not sure is the strut was put on properly. So I may end up buying new wheels and lower profile tyres. Thanks Ben

  16. I've recently bought a 1.4 Lupo and I would like to lower it. I would only want to go down 40mm (maybe 60mm at a push) and I'm wondering how best to go about this. I've been advised to go for lowering springs rather than coilovers because a.) I don't need go go really low, as the roads around Sheffield are shocking! And b.) I've been told that coilovers offer a harsher ride over lowering springs as they are more track/B road focused. My questions are: Are there any massive disadvantages with the cheap ebay springs such as Lo Suspension and FK's?! Will I need to uprate the shocks to cope with the added stress? Also will will I need my alignment sorted for a 40mm drop? Any other suggestions and advice welcome Thanks!
  17. This is Rory my 1.0 mk1 arosa s This is when I got him 6 months ago Completely standard except for some smoked indicators Picked up some jom coilovers and bought a set of bbs reps off a friend After running those for a few months I fancied a change Tried on a couple of friends wheels 16" steels Compomotives 15" Then I found a set of rota zeros on here from vwcal so snapped them up as quick as I could They were 8j et0 on the back so I was quite worried how they'd sit on my standard arches Luckily a friend is handy with a copper hammer and flattened them for me but they still poked out a bit much for my liking so I added some camber Pretty stoked how it is now Plans are to get bigger spacers on the front and some new seats Thanks for looking

  19. Okay so heres my first car. I bought her in January. She came, de-badged with front arches rolled. Tires were bald so got new boots all round. She came with wheel trims but after ripping them off to change tyres i realised she'd look alot nicer without the tacky things. The engine was absolutely disgusting inside and dutterssssssss. So i got a paintbrush and some gum remover and made her all fresh. slammed in some new blue sidelights Then i decided it was time to make my steelies look a little nicer... Got myself some smooth hamerite and a brush and gave them a touch up after sanding. Got some center caps from the local Scrap yard and im really happy with how they've turned out. Now heres some stuff i've put together... More stuff planned for the near future, Black roof soon! Thanks, Sam
  20. Does anyone know of any garages with the correct gear to track low cars near durham / sunderland area.. just been turned away before from garages, saying they couldn't get the gear round the wheel :/
  21. This thread will show my progress on my first car, Seat arosa mk1 in flash red. I bought the car in January 2012 knowing basically nothing about cars, so when i saw the ad for the arosa i instantly asked my mate if it was a good car as he had one himself, he said yeah and i should go view the car a couple days later i ended up buying. so here is how i bought the car: So when i bought the car i knew it was lowered but i never knew by how much. After having a grinding noise coming from under the car i took it to a garage to find out the drive shaft had come loose, this was in result of the car being so low, they then told me it was lowered 100mm, i was shocked and knew this was to low as i live on speed bumps, in time it was just going to do damage to the car so therefor i booked in to get raised, the bonus of this was my mate had a set of black alloys which i tried to fit on previously but the car was to low and the arches where rubbing on the wheel so i took them to the garage with me and got them fitted after it was raised. With the black alloys fitted it is currently looking like this: The red and black just makes the car look so much better in my opinion, after having the car raised it now sits lowered at 40mm, from going to 100mm to 40mm is such a massive difference and i will defiantly be going lower when i get a different set of wheels in the future, however i am going to Ibiza in a few months so i will be saving for the holiday rather than mods at the moment! My Future plans: Get rid of the yellow film on the front lights, replace a cracked outter shell wing mirror(drivers side) Sport exhaust (center exit) Make the car all fresh n new with a full service kit and servicing. BBS alloys Leather interior Double din touchscreen dvd player paint work touch ups Thanks for viewing and look out for updates in the future All feedback welcome, -Matty
  22. Hello folks! Just thought i'd introduce myself as I've just bought an arosa tdi, and thought it's probably best I sign up to club lupo for all my small hatchback needs! So on the weekend just gone I took a trip up to Manchester to look at an Arosa Tdi, i'd been looking for a Tdi for ages, either lupo or arosa, and this one came up and at the right kind of price, so I thought, why the feck not go check it out. So after a nice two hour drive I was greeted with a nice canica blue tdi. Checked it over, took it out for a spin and thought, yeahh, I think i need this in my life. Pictures speak louder than words, so heres afew pics. With the weather being so shite i've not actually taken any of my own yet, so heres some I took from the advert that sold it to me. Gotta say though, you can really tell its a cheaper car than the lupos, everything does feel a tad cheap. So, issues i've figured out since buying it - the temp gauge has a mind of its own, it climbs up then drops, then stays dropped for ages, so it mostly shows no reading, any idea what this is? Temp sensor? - Ive got one main beam bulb thats gone - My drivers side electric window switch doesnt work, so i cant raise or lower windows from my side, apparently i just need a new switch (if anyones got one, please drop me a pm) - think its a tad too low as i keep scraping the belly pan or whatever its called, which now rattles like crazy when the cars idling I think thats pretty much it.. those are my initial things to fix, as well as anti rusting the arches. If anyones got any suggestions or comments, smack me up with them. Cheers, Jon.
  23. Hi there guys, This has been long overdue by me really! Been a proud Lupo owner for just over a year now and have been currently browsing the forums since before i had my car haha just never got round to making an account. Anyways, here is my Lupo! Bought the car late last year for £850 it had covered around 54000 miles and had five owners! and it was in a pretty bad way to be fair but it was good enough to be my first car! The bodywork was not the best, interior was nasty all the seats and drivers footwell were covered in fag burns, head lining had some strange blood/rust looking stain and the speedo didnt work! But all in all it was very local to me which was rare (never any lupos around here ) and i pretty much loved the car as soon as i saw it so yeah haha here is the build thread of my car, a lot has changed over this year but here goes: Apologies as majority of my pictures are taken from my iPhone (mainly instagram) if you have instagram follow me! @dom_vw <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dominicwilliams/8268025026/" title="IMG_0060 by DominicWilliams, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8357/8268025026_f3b3eecfdf_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="IMG_0060"></a> Car a week or so after owning it completely standard <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dominicwilliams/8268025500/" title="IMG_0071 by DominicWilliams, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8071/8268025500_abf90b4801_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="IMG_0071"></a> BMX Roadtrip me and a few friends and my mates Polo went on to Wirksworth not long after having my car <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dominicwilliams/8266957529/" title="IMG_0072 by DominicWilliams, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8501/8266957529_1f8d35389c_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="IMG_0072"></a> Who says you cant fit 6 BMX's in a lupo? <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dominicwilliams/8266960273/" title="IMG_0260 by DominicWilliams, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8357/8266960273_a5e8419e62_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="IMG_0260"></a> Bit of a bump! 24. Constantly seeing a blue Lupo outside the ASDA in Grangemouth, thinking the person possibly works there? I'd like to know who the driver is!
  25. Well this is my 2000 seat arosa 1.0 (rory) i got it a month ago after psing my driving test on the 6th attempt after looking around it was the only one i liked that was in my price range so i went and picked it up from Winchester Heres how it looked when i got it First thing i did was pop a big chavy sub in the boot which wouldnt fit so i have it in upside down... Next i picked up a set of Jom blueline coilovers, popped them on with ome help from a friend after removing the helers and trimming the bump stops down a bit, looked a lot better Then i removed the bumpstrips off the side which took way too long! the night before edition38 but really likes the new look heres a rolling shot on the way to edition from a friend i also picked up some 15" mercedes trims and butchered them until they fit, looking pretty cool now (taken at edition38) Thats all for now stay tuned next thing i want is some new wheels possibly some 16" steels Also heres a edit from Edition 38 from a friend while we were there , im the one being towwed in the tent by the mk2 Link to video from edition Cheers
