  1. Hi all looking for any advice on where to begin have a 2002 1.4l lupo e no electric windows. When I unlock the drivers door all other doors stayed locked, same with all doors meaning I have to manually unlock or unlock from the inside. Not a huge deal but would love to fix it. cheers
  2. Remote central locking just suddenly stopped working today on our Lupo 1.4s Details: Door works fine with key. When I use the key in the passenger side lock it activates central locking and unlocks the rest of the car, same with locking also. When I use the fob it unlocks the drivers door and boot but not the passenger door. Same with locking. When I use the fob I can hear the passenger door trying to lock or unlock but it doesn't move the pin. When passenger door is locked you cant unlock door from inside with the door handle. Is the whole unit bust and therefore I need to buy one of these: Lock Mechanism Or is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks, Jon
  3. Help I have a Y reg seat arosa that currently has central locking... when I first bought the car the boot locked at the same time as I locked the doors via the central locking. Ive used my boot today and now when I lock my car the boot doesn't lock? I have to put the actual key into the boot to physical lock and unlock it. When I do this it then no longer unlocks.... ive checked my owners manual and doesn't say anything about it. can anyone help? Many thanks arosashan
  4. My son's 2004 VW Lupo TDI failed its MoT due to the drivers seat not locking in position. I've had a quick look and it looks like the mechanism is parting due to a missing circlip/c clip/washer - local garage quoting £250 for a repair including £65 for replacement assembly but can;t justify the cost. I've PM'd another chap who seems to have had a similar issue a couple of years ago with his Seat Arosa. Any ideas on where I might get a replacement clip/washer - it looks the sort of thing which should costs pennies but I may be underestimating the issue. Any other advice/suggestions welcomed.
  5. Hi has anyone got an idea what locking nut this is and how to get it off I have got them on with BBS RA's the person who I brought the car off had lost the locking nut and I need to take the wheel off to check brakes and do some work on the car....I am however finding it hard to get a key or know what key to even get for this locking bolt, I would like to be able to use these nuts again so don't really want to break them in anyway but really need them ASAP. Thank for anyone who can help with this issue.
  6. Hi guys. I am a newbie and have a 1999 Lupo 1.4S (green!). Unfortunately experiencing a couple of problems: 1. The central door locking mechanism starts clicking on and off while driving along. The door lock knobs don't move but you can hear the mechanism clicking away like mad; and 2. When unlocking the car both electric windows roll down. Once inside the car they can be put back up with the switches as per normal. Any thoughts much appreciated Cheers Andrew
  7. Guys, my car won't lock from the key or from the inside switch, just unlocks. Also, as my door switch is broken, i can't lock the car with the key, just the passenger door. What would be the issue? If you read my thread you might saw that i had check engine light lit up, after i removed and fitted the steering wheel back, but i don't think it was linked. I'm thinking battery? The car stood like 4 days with the earth removed and i already have a low battery, could this be the issue?
  8. Hi. I can't get the boot of my 2001 Arosa S open. The central locking won't unlock it it although it does make straining motor noises for a second or two when the car is locked or unlocked. Similarly, I can't get the key to rotate properly in the lock, and any rotation that does happen doesn't seen to do anything. I've not been able to use the key in the boot since I've owned the car though, so that's not new. The actual boot handle it self doesn't have much resistance to movement, it moves smoothly and springs closed when I let go, but it doesn't actually feel as though it's connected to anything mechanically. I can't remember what it felt like before, it might have always been like that. I've read that some of the VAG boot locking mechanisms are prone to jamming and need cleaning and lubricating periodically, but to do this I presumably need to get the bugger open. Anyone got any ideas? Would it be worthwhile to pull the interior plastic panel off of the boot from the inside of the car? Ta EDIT: got the interior trim off and had a poke about, the problem did indeed seem to be that parts of the mechanism were sticking enough to prevent them from springing back to where they should be. Also the white electronic actuator seems to be completely dead now, so until I manage to track down a replacement I've unhooked it from the manual locking mechanism.
  9. Hi all! Purchased my 1st Lupo at the start of this week. After working for VW for a while, I jumped at the chance when I saw a Lupo for sale in my area and snapped it up. Immaculate condition for an 02 plate. I am over the moon with my purchase. There are a few things I would like to change though. More for convenience than anything else and was wondering if anyone could advise. I have manual locking. I have to unlock both doors automatically, I would like to upgrade this to central locking and after having a look about the internet have found some universal central locking kits. I was wondering if anyone had used these and how they found it. Although I have mechanical knowledge, I am hopeless at electrics and don't want to fit anything that may cause me electrical problems. I now work for Mitsubishi so I would be looking at fitting the kit myself. Also electric windows. Anyone any idea about changing these from manual. If it can't be done or if it is going to cause problems and high bills to rectify, I will be more than happy to leave it. As I said, it is more for convenience than anything else. Thanks Dani
  10. ok, so ive been have problems with my remote key for a while now. at first my central locking wasn't working, i did all the recommended things, new battery, new fuse and trying to re-program it still couldn't get it to work. now when I try and start the car with that key it wont start, it will tick over and occasionally start but only rev once and then die again. the spare key works absolutely fine, starts the car first time. can someone tell me whats up with it, I don't particularly want to fork out for a whole new key if possible. thanks!
  11. Hey all - this is my first post after purchasing a rather tired 2000 1.7 S SDI with 155k on the clock. It's got it's share of problems that I'm working through, one of which is the central locking. It's as if it doesn't have it at all! I can lock both doors and the boot with the key but none of these operate the central locking. The V5 definitely states it's an S so it should have central locking. The previous owner also stated that the central locking didn't work so it's assumed to be there. The odd this is that VCDS-Lite cannot find the controller on channel 35 so I can't see what it's playing at. Not sure if it helps/is related, but there is a red LED by the drivers door pin, but this doesn't come on when the doors are locked. Not sure if it's existence means the car should have central locking? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Tim
  12. Hey guys! So im having a little trouble with my central locking on my 2001 Arosa s, i have had a new battery fitted to the key but it still doesn't want to work! The red light flashes when i press the buttons (so i know the key has power) i have both keys if that helps? if anyone can help that would be amazing! i miss my central locking! thanks, Joel.
  13. Just bought a mk2 arosa 1.0s "03" of a mate and it has remote locking key fob OEM; the fob LED lights up when you click either buttons but the car doesn't lock or unlock. Has anyone got any suggestions, much appreciated. Rob
  14. Lately my car's central locking can be heard clicking over & over, whilst it's parked up. I've noticed the 'tailgate open' warning light has been on quite a bit too since around the same time (is a false reading.. firmly shut). Are these two related, and what to do??
  15. Hay, a while ago I fitted my toad alarm but now I am getting fed up of unalarming the car and then puting the key in to open the doors, boot ect. So how would I fit solinoides in as there is limited room, or how can I get hold of some locks off a arosa that has already got this? Have been looking at this for a while now and not got very fare.
  16. Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. Pretty much about a month back I bought a gorgeous little lupo S, T reg and it has been brilliant and drives lovely. However now some problems are starting to surface; first one is pretty big, I went to open my bonnet to check my oil levels and the handle pretty much broke off in my hand, I take it that was my bonnet release cable snapping. How much do you recon that will cost to sort out. I don't like not being able to get into my bonnet. The other thing is my central locking is a bit dodgy. Will always open fine with no trouble but when I go to lock it it will sometimes lock it all fine and other times it will only lock the drivers door. Have tried locking from the passengers side and will most of the time completely lock the car but have had trouble there too. I checked my key and it has a slight bend in it. So i have changed to my spare key which is nice and shiny and more importantly straight. Haven't tried it yet but could it be the key you recon? If not how much does it cost to get that fixed too? Just so I know how much I am going to have to fork out on pay day. Cheers for the help guys apart from those troubles I am loving my Lupo EDIT: just realised this may have been the wrong thread to put this in, if it is sorry and can it be moved to a more appropriate location?
