  2. Problem with xenons So drivers side xenon is not working some cable was cut I've put them back together but still not working When i turn lights on it flickers and tries to turn on and goes off there is power going through the wires that was cut so that part is fine Main light doesn't work (red circle) But the bottom light is working (green circle) So if the ballast/igniter is dead could the bottom work but the top wouldn't? I haven't swapped over the bulb, is it a definite bumper off job? Thank you

    My GTi

Possibly the longest wait from buying the car to posting a thread about it, but I figure it's about time I posted! Bought it from GTi T on here back in April 2011. Had been looking at this for a while and eventually I had the money available so I bought it. It has a couple of mods;AP CoiloversG60 BrakesBMC Air Filter with cold air feedScorpion Cat-Back exhaustRear De-wiperCompomotive MO 15x7 ET20 all roundCambridge Rear Lights Since then, I've not done much to it, except for maintenance. It needed a new drivers side trackrod end to pass it's first NCT. After that, I spent quite a bit of time enjoying it. I had noticed one day while checking the oil that the HT lead on the first cylinder seemed to be loose so pushed it back down, and checked it a couple of days later and it had come loose again. I had thought nothing of it until one day coming home from work and I hear a pop and the car starts running like a bag of nails. I pulled over and noticed the HT lead had come off and the spark plug was sitting on the engine. Turns out the spark plug had been over tightened and the thread had stripped, so it went down to my mechanic for the thread to be repaired, and also had the valve guides and stem seals replaced and timing belt & water pump also. Moved abroad again for 18 months and the car sat idle. When I moved back home I had to change the batter as the old one wasn't holding any charge. Because of this the airbag light came on, and the ABS light was on. I had lost interest and had no money, so I had the thought to sell the car so had it up for sale for a while with not a whole lot of interest (thankfully!). Instead, I found work here so set about getting the car back on the road. Took the car to a main dealer for an oil change, brake fluid change, pollen filter, aircon re-gassed and the identified a few other faults, so the car went to my mechanic again for a new ABS sensor and polybushed front end. After this, I bought a MK5 Golf GTi and have been using that as a daily since. Some more pictures Lupo hasn't been forgotten though, I do have plans for it, and today I got a delivery for it... Of course I opened them straight away.. And, being the impatient man I am, I had to test fit them The rear seems to poke a little too much, but that should be easily sorted (I hope!) The fronts are 7J ET27, and rears are 7.5J ET20. THey've been completed refurbed, new dishes & bolts also. I'm considering getting them powedercoated, had originally wanted gold, but now I'm thinking of an anthracite type colour. I'd nock something up in photoshop, but I wouldn't know where to start with it! Hopefully there'll be a few other things completed before Dubshed.
  4. hello am mid way threw a engine swap and was hoping some one could help need a wiring diagram for an x reg lupo 1.4 s (75bhp) an if possable a polo gti w reg 4 door haveing loom issues

  6. Make:VW Model: Polo (9n3) MOT: Aug 2016 TAX: £30 per year Engine size: 1.4 Fuel type: Diesel Description including modifications: Very cheap reliable car, done over 11K miles to and from work Alloy wheels with good tyres - one is brand new Air conditioning is ice cold Electric windows and electric heated mirrors Driver, Passenger and Seat Air bags The interior is in great condition, the exterior has the usual wear with a couple of normal car park dents (one on each side) VW service history until 2011 then independent afterwards. Last service at 88,650 miles which included new pads/shoes and discs, as well as wheel cylinders. The brakes have had a total over hall. Drives very well, had the wheel alignment and tracking done when I got it - need to for the miles I do. Comes with 2 keys, both central locking fobs for the alarm system. The car is a cat d, it had a cracked front bumper (paint was intact) and a broken tab on a headlight from the bumper moving when I got it, I was surprised that it hadn't been fixed as it looked like a parking mishap. I had the bumper, bumper bar and front panel replaced to make sure it was totally fixed and reliable as I can't afford to not have a car for work. Rather than replace like for like I requested the updated GTI front end and lights which I think makes the car look newer and more appealing. The only other thing to mention is that the clutch release bearing sometimes chirps in 1st gear, its always done it and never got worse. I've asked 2 different garages to check it wasn't the clutch and both said the clutch was good, it never slips and it drives perfectly. Location: Ashford, Kent Images: Price: £2595
  7. Selling my lupo gti spoiler as i'm selling my car. Reflex silver in colour. Very good condition, some small paint bubbles but not very noticeable. looking for £100 posted will get photos up later
  8. new to this and it's my first post so apologies if I've done it wrong. Its to my understanding that you can fit mk4 recaro seats into the Lupo with a little help from a grinder, is the same thing possible using the same method with Cupra r seats from the mk1 Leon? thanks, Blake
  9. Any know who's it is? Purple GTI gold bbs splits
  10. Hello all, First off, I know this has been posted lots before but honestly the information seems so scattered and varied and I'm not sure how applicable all of it is to my situation so I'm sorry for reposting this...please don't murder me Anyway I've come into the possesion of a 6n2 GTI engine block from a local vw dismantlers. My little (AUC) 1.0 litre has s*** the bed so I planned to do an engine swap anyway but then I got this engine for basically nothing. I know the best way to do this is to buy a complete Polo GTI that's been rear ended or something and begin swapping everything over but I don't want to buy one that's already sold some essential parts I need. So from my understanding this is what I need now from another polo with the same engine code as the one I have (AVY) Gearboxengine loominterior loomECUradiatorfuel pumpfront hubs/carriers/calipers/discsand the ignition barrel. Is there anything else? How does the AVY fit onto the AUC Engine mounts, I think I read somewhere new mounts will need to be made am I right? And also are any of these parts interchangeable between GTI polos and GTI lupos, just in case I can't find the part on a polo maybe I could use the GTI lupos. I've found lots of posts and some even talking about guides for this sort of thing but none linking to them and I can't seem to find it through the search on this forum (Probably because I'm not a huge forum user but still...) Any help would greatly appreciated. Cheers! Thanks so much!

  12. Hello All. I am fairly new to Lupo ownership. I was in need of a daily driver with a bit of space in the back, and having always liked the look of the Lupo, decided I had to have it when I found one at the back of a second hand car dealers lot in Oxford. It is a silver GTI with the six speed 02U gearbox. It appeared to be a very original car with only a small ding on a front wing. It was obvious that some other work was needed as there were warning lamps lighting up all over the dash and the charging circuit was not working. In addition it was due for a cambelt change and the gearbox crunches on third gear. When I list it all like that I wonder why I bought it! Perhaps, foolishly, these problems I regard as challenges and the car looked so good and drove so well I thought I should have it at the reasonable price asked. The charging circuit required a new alternator as the existing one was damaged by oil contamination. Sloppy overfilling of the oil at some time. The cam change was fairly easy once the correct tool was bought to hold the crank. I tried all sorts of ways suggested on this site and other places and none worked for me, so went and bought the tool. Still cheaper than getting it done at a garage. Some of the electrical problems were caused by blown fuses and a faulty heater in the crank case breather. I found that problem shown on this site and as the symptoms were so similar I thought it worth checking. Spot on. The remote locking was not working. I tried all sorts of reset ways suggested but nothing worked. Suddenly it started working, but now it has stopped again, so I do not know about that. Occasionally the alarm goes off, but not for a while, touch wood. Unlock the car and get in and then, what a racket! I have tried all sorts of things to try and turn it off, and it does eventually, but I am not sure if I have contributed to it. For a while all the warning lamps did not light, but the airbag one is now alight but that may be due to a plug coming out somewhere someone has suggested. Just not sure where it might be. Owe, I forgot, there is an electrical problem in the drivers door as sometimes the window goes down of it’s own accord. Press the button to send it up ... buzz and up it goes and as soon as you take your finger off the button. ... click .. and down it goes again. It is drivable with the gearbox problem. Just take it slower into 3rd, or miss it out. I did budget in the cost of a replacement box, but have as yet sorted out who to do it. I live in Abingdon near Oxford, so if anyone can offer any advice, please do. I will be keeping the car fairly standard, but am fitting a double din unit with twin rear cameras and a video recording system. All removable if I ever sell it and the new owner wants it boggers. The GTI is a great looking car that goes better than I need and is so rare in the UK that I feel it does not need any extra to stand out.

  17. Hi all, Had my GTI for a few years now but never got around to sorting this issue out, its not had any mods to it standard everywhere. The rear wheels rub on the inside of the wells, due to the less than great cornering offered on stock i can go through rear tires quite quickly. Does anyone know what my different options are and how it would help? I've come across rolling the arches but I can't see how that would help the rubbing on the inside? Any help appreciated.
  18. Hello I have 2 lupo Gti gearboxes for sale: 5 Speed (mileage unknown), was sold to me working but I never fitted it so I can’t guarantee this. £70 6 speed (2002 – 99800 miles), gear change was smooth but it did start to make a noise when in 2nd/3rd gear. The garage believed it might be a differential issue, so would need reconditioning. £100 The collection is in Banbury Oxfordshire, if you would like to arrange a courier that’s up to you but I imagine that it will be very expensive due to weight. If you would like both I will do them for £150
  19. I've got the clocks in and the car turns on and the revs go up There is however a few warning lights on the dials that don't shift Can I clear these through vcds or equivalent scanner. How can I get the milage corrected from the 100k to my 160k milage. Would love this all to be functional as I would like the mpg meter to work Currently got the chrome covers sat over my old clocks
  20. So a few of you will recognise this car, it's been around the block but as long as nothing bad happens with my finances then i'll be keeping this a very long time! I'll let the photos do the talking, there are some potato photos from my phone so I apologize in advance for this! There are photos that i don't own, but found about the internet and various build threads! P.S if you want any of the photos removed then please message me!
  21. Hi, I've got a Lupo GTI and wanted to know if it was possible to run 17" Porsche twists 7j fronts and 8.5j rears. Thanks in advance guys!
  22. Just a quick post.... I was having lots of trouble with water getting in my passenger footwell for ages until I realised the problem... This is a post for everyone else to consider when they are searching for a water leak problem! Basicaly, When the door speakers were mounted to the cars from new, they used rivets and the back of the mooting plates were SEALED to the inside of the door. This prevents the water that is designed to get into the door, coming in the car and simply drains out the holes in the bottom of the door. So when you get your lovely Lupo and someone (the previous owner to mine) has decided to put some s**t aftermarket c**py speakers in instead, make sure you check they're nicely fitted and sealed in some form... Its also not good to use MDF for adaptor plates, as they love water and then your car will be damp... use plastic. Or just get some of the original speakers and fit them, which is what I intend to do! The other benefit of the originals is they had some protection on the back to stop the rear connections going rusty and corroded. Makes me sad that the previous owner also used wood screws to fit his speakers whats wrong with people like that! Hope this helps.
  23. Hi all, I've recently purchased a lupo GTI! Love it to bits already! I've made a start on my boot build today and was just wanting to create a post to show people how I've got on and maybe if anyone could suggest anything So I've ordered 2x Rockford forsgate 8" subs to go in the boot My box dimensions are as follows; (these dimensions are not set in stone yet I'm waiting on the subs to be delivered first) 800 x 300 base 764 x 264 top 800 x 171 front & back x2 264 x 171 sides x2 I will the lay a false floor on top of the box all nicely trimmed and lit up with clear view of the subs Only got round to cutting the wood today
