    Roof Bars

Hey guys, I've been looking for OEM roof bars, but the rarity of these made me look for alternatives ( not to mention the expensive shipment to Romania ) and found some Italian brand called La Prealpina, does a pair which look close as OEM ones. If you're like me, looking for the roundness and the flush fitment of the OEM bars, you'll like these, they are called Prealpina LP51 and they come for half the price of the OEM bars - you should know they are made of steel, not aluminium, hence the price.
  2. Don't know if this has been asked before, some of you may have noticed theres not much dashboard storage lol. are there any aftermarket products for extra interior storage space to put things like CDs, sunglasses etc. Ive seen loads of those storage armrests on Ebay but don't know if they're any good or easy to install yourself, anyone had experiance with these? ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME
  3. Just wondering, what width of wheel will fit onto an arosa without having to roll the arches and deal with camber? also what offset is needed?
  4. Want anything tried out on Photoshop before doing it?
  5. I have just brought a seat arosa with standard wheels and alloys, I'm looking to change my alloys but keep the wheels if possible, how do I know if the alloys will fit my car (seat arosa 03) Thanks ?
  6. So i've just started here and I'll be inheriting a Mk1 Arosa in august, I already know what I want to do to it, not really fussed on engine changes or exhaust etc.. because it's only a 1L. This it what I plan to do: Lowered 60mm Fox Motorsport 6 spoke wheels Under seat 900W sub and amp New steering wheel Reclining bucket seats De-badged grill Carbon wrap some of the interior Would these be good little changes for a first car or should I do something else? Suggestions would be appreciated.
  7. I bought this mk2 arosa for £500 except it had a gearbox problem After we just about managed to get it home we decided to strip the gearbox We found out that it was the 5th gear needle roller bearing that had broke This is what it should look like This is what it actually looked like Anyway bought myself a set of wheels but can't fit them yet till my spigot rings arrive Just got some AP coilovers on order and the car will be sent of to paint more photos coming when it's running again
  8. so i bought this new steering wheel to put on the ratty batty but i can't get the old one off, there are three screws at each point on the back of the steering wheel, i went out and bought the right star bit and a new ratchet to get it off but still no such luck, they just seem to be spinning... is there any other way of getting it off? :/
  9. For some unknown reason I have acquired some serious positive camber on my front driver side! I don't wanna pay a garage to sort it out, cos I've heard it's easy to do! Can anyone give me some advice or how to's, I'd be veeerryy greatful! :-)
  10. Hi, my first car is a 1 litre Seat Arosa Mk2 in red, 02 reg with 110000 on the clock. I've been wondering how I can make it look better without throwing loads of money at it. Any ideas? Also I want a front grille centre piece without the S badge, any ideas where I will get one? Cheers.
  11. Hi, does anybody know someone who is breaking an arosa mk2? Looking for interior parts such as door cards, handles, gear knob gaiter, ect. Or just general parts!
  12. Hi! Well I only picked it up yesterday and already love it! It's a '03 Seat Arosa 1.4 16v Sport in black. Completely standard with the exception to the Scorpian back exhaust. These are the only pics I have of it at the mo, with robgti's Lupo
  13. Bought it for £130 and they won't accept a return after me not needing it. It's brand new in the box. Open to offers but need the money!
  14. this is my Arosa 1.6 was a sport, it has uprated pistons and all the mods to keep her going, what do u guys think. I have only had her for a short while she has had all work done from previous owners be for me all I have done is give her tlc and make all parts work and work really well they have also help with a name would be good so if u can come up with cool names would be better than what my gran called her that was (betsy)
  15. Hey up I'm Adam. Heres my Arosa so far. see me about give me a toot.
  16. Hi Guys, Right time for a bit of a rant! I apologise in advance. 2 weeks ago I had to park up the Arosa, as it decided to leak diesel all over the place and impersonate a v8 Took a look at it and the exhaust was in shocking condition and the fuel cooler had got a leak. So after searching all over fuel cooler and posting on here to see if there were any alternatives, I had to give in and do the one thing I hate. Take the car to a GARAGE I am fussy with the car and hate other people fiddling with it and thought I would be okay taking it to the local VAG specialist (now I will be nicer than I should and leave out their name). Got the car through to them, explained about the fuel cooler and said about the exhaust. They phoned through the next day and said they could get the fuel cooler but it would take 10 days! So I decided to let them go ahead and asked them to check over the exhaust completely. "Sure no problem, we'll call you when it's done" was the response I got. So yesterday I get the car back, and get this with it: So i was happy, apart from the amount, but no drama. It was fixed! Yay! But then...... Took it a for a drive this afternoon and something fell off.... BRILLIANT!!!! Anyway rant over... And if any of you guys are in the Aylesbury area and want to know where not to take your car feel free to PM me, Wes
  17. Engine code AUB I've just serviced the engine - new spark plugs, fuel, air, oil and cabin filters, topped off with shell helix 5W40 oil, i've also flushed the fuel system with red line fuel system cleaner and have been running it with premium JET fuel and Shell V-PowerI have removed and cleaned the EGR valveReplaced coil packReplaced HT leadsReplaced throttle bodyThrottle body aligned via VCDSNew batteryNO FAULT CODESProblems: The car doesn't start brilliant - turns over quite a few times before it fires upThere seems to be a flat spot when accelerating around 2k rpm sometimes, where it feels like all engine power just goes then comes back a moment laterLingering when the revs are coming downLag when revving - on my 1.4 non sport you can repeatedly bash the throttle and the revs will correspond. On the sport, if you bash the throttle the revs just mush around with no definition to themThe car is always noticeably smokey out of the exhaust regardless of the weather or how long the car has been runningThe car really struggles past 90mph, especially in 5th gear and if i'm giving it some, however it will happily cruise up to and past that speedIt seems as if when you have the accelerator pedal fully depressed and then ease it back a bit the car picks up a littleI know this engine is renowned for having throttle lag issued but it just seems that this is an abnormal amount of lag If anyone has had any of these problems and has managed to rectify them or just has any suggestions ill have a look into them as i'd like to get this car running 100% or near enough I've put a hell of a lot of effort (and money) into this car getting it roadworthy and running and ill be damned if i can't get it at least 90%
  18. Hey There! Seems a bit of a silly question, but i've been having difficultly trying to locate a replacement mk1 surround for the grill on the front, as the clips are broken, so one side always pops out! it looks as though the lad who had it before has tried to superglue it back on! When i go on amazon/ebay to try and find one all i can get hold of is the actual grill itself not the surround, i've tried multiple scrap yards either they dont have any arosas at all or one side of the surround is broken aswell! What would be the best way to try get my hands on one, colour is no object!
  19. this is my little hog was standard last year slowly coming together
  20. I'm looking to reline my headliner in my Arosa, has anyone any pictures of their relined headliners and is it easy, what glue to use etc? Also wanting to reline my door cards and I have no idea where to start, is there any how to's on here or Youtube? Any information will be highly appreciated thanks in advance!
  21. Say hi to Poppy I'm going to use this topic to post progression pictures. So this is Poppy. My first car, bought on 1st December 2013. Not a lot of progress so far, other than a full exhaust replacement as she came with a bit of a bodge job exhaust system. Other than that, just the debadged grill and a bit of sticker bombing in the interior a long with a stereo replacement.. She is my absolute pride and joy and has so much potential, I have a few things in mind such as coil overs, alloys etc. and possibly a colour coded splitter then just a few details of the interior. I'm also getting a boot build with two 10 inch subs and an amp but I'm not sure how well that's going to go yet due to the shoe box sized boot :')
  22. Car is a 1L Seat Arosa, 2003. 66k miles.. This knocking noise was a slight problem before, but after a service I told that it was OK. Have just done about 800 miles in a week as was away in England, and first day back and the car sounds like a diesel in idle. When I push the clutch pedal in, it sounds normal, and runs good. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong??
  23. I've just bought a complete Mk2 bootlid and i intend to fit it to my Mk1. This is a non central locking bootlid so wiring will have to be transferred and a new lock and handle will need to be purchased. However to be able to use my existing key, regardless of which handle is fitted, the lock and barrel will have to be switched OR modified. I have done the latter and modified the lock to be fully functional with my existing key. This is how it was done: I removed the handle from the boot to do this but it can be done with it still fitted. 6 Nuts is all that is holding it in so its not too hard to remove and makes life a lot easier later on. First things first, you will need to remove the e clip and lock arm There will be a C shaped clip retaining the next part, i have already removed it in the above picture. This clip is the difficult one to re-install as it is retaining a spring plate. Be careful when removing this as the springs are under pressure and WILL want to fly everywhere. Once that clip is removed all of the other parts should just slip out. When i extracted these i made sure to keep them lined up but they should all slip together one way so it really doesn't matter, i was just being extra cautious. The business end is pictured on the left of the above, this is a 2 piece assembly, once the sheath is removed all the teeth should pop out. This is the bit you will need to swap with your existing part so that your original key will work correctly in your new lock. If however you are attempting to modify it, there are a few things to note, the modified lock will NOT be as secure as the original as it will now fit YOUR key as well as the donor cars key and any other key in between. The less modification needed to make YOUR key work, the more secure the lock will be. I was lucky as very little modification was required. When the key is inserted, all of the teeth should be flush with the body. As you can see in the picture above there is about 3 teeth that are not flush when MY key is inserted. All that is needed is for the teeth to be ground down flush, i did this with my dremel but it could also be done with a file. Test that it slides in the barrel when the key is inserted before you refit it and assemble in reverse order.
  24. Well... I'm back. Since my Arosa sport I've had an Octavia mk1 1.9tdi 108ps, a Seat Ibiza FR mk3 pd130. Now I've decided to come back to the Arosa/Lupo Club but with the 1.4 tdi. Couldn't pass up the chance of £30 a year road tax, great fuel economy and cheap insurance, especially being self employed. Bought it last Thursday (02/01/2014), already changed the rear lights for standard Lupo's and wired the rear fogs and reverse lights. I'll be looking to purchase a full interior if anyone is selling, as the one fitted is gray and stained. And bumpers, maybe sport ones but I'm not too fussed, I do miss having front fogs already though . Problems I've found so far:Driver door dropped (replace hinges?)Illumination on the heater controls not workingFloppy accelerator (I fixed this before, loose bolt on the acc pot)Electric window switches totally knackered (fixed this before too, rebuild the switches)Windows roll up and down incredibly slowMid speakers do not work at allTweeters crackle and cut outRear bumper cracked (probably replace)Body damage on most panels (probably live with it)Few rust patches (Sand back and spray)Dirty stained grey interior (needs replacing)Curbed alloys (may be changing wheels anyway)Starter motor runs on after startingBrakes feel odd, spongy and wheel wobbles when braking hard. (warped discs? air in system?)Tracking looks outRear offside spring has shattered (want to lower anyway)Key gets stuck in lock when locking the doorRemote fob doesn't work, red LED never illuminates (I'll have to buy a couple more from ebay)Mats need replacingAlterations done so far: Rear lights replaced for Red Lupo onesLED map lightSprayed a bunch of Oust inside it
  25. Ok, so i had the engine warning light come on, diagnostics said it was the egr valve. to replace its minimum £130 but i have heard you can remove the sensor all together? sorry i am a complete newbie at this, i know the valve is water cooled so what would replace it if i were to remove it? because obviously it would spew coolant out, am i right? grateful for any help!
