  3. Hi guys, I've many problems with my arosa with 1.4 16v 101cv code engine AUB because it's drunks too much oil. I decided to swap this engine with the Lupo GTi 1.6 125cv 5 gearbox. The problem is that in Italy nobody have done that. It's possible? I've notice that probably the support are the same... Is plug'n'play? How can I do? Thank you guys!!
  4. Hi, so i'm looking to buy some coilovers and have been looking around at different ones and this is some that I have found in the budget range :- Jom Coilovers £189 Fk Ak Street £185 Ta Technix £189 then into the higher price being :- Ap Coilovers (straight from AP) £385 Fk Highsport £355 There are probably many others around but I have hear some bad reviews about different ones, was wondering if to spend a bit on some expensive ones or just get budget coilovers and if so what ones. Cheers
  5. Hey guys, bought some replacement spark plugs and I want to change them at home. I know i need a key, but would it be a difficult job to do at home, on 1.4?
  6. Really need help / advice I have a lupo sport with the 1.4 16v AFK engine While on way to the vw event in Southsea traveling at 60mph the upper cam belt failed losing half of the teeth. I had the car recovered back home but now not 100% what's best to do. I have fitted a new upper cam belt to test if any damage and there's no compression to fire. I will test it with my compression tool propley tonight. If theres damage I'm guessing it's most likely to be the values and maybe piston. What I want to know is what's my best plan? Rip old engine out and put in a newer lupo sport engine AUB ? Try rebuilding my current engine Find a AFK engine and risk it's ok? Or is there any simple ish alternatives ? Some people say fitting a gti engine out of a lupo maybe easier then a AUB ? I am not up to speed with the differences between to 2 lupo sports engines AFK / AUB. Any advice ?
  7. Hey everyone, I've had my Lupo for just over a year now (first car) and have been on here for a while but haven't really posted much. I have a 1.4 yellow Lupo named Lenny (Leonard if/when he crashes) and I love him So far I've removed the little rear badges, the rear windscreen wiper have replaced my aerial with a tiny one. As you may have noticed I'm not so good with the technical stuff. I have big plans for my Lupo but will need a lottttttt of assistance from my boyfriend and hopefully everyone on here. Photos will follow later x
  8. My 1.4 TDi was running and starting fine, then next minute wouldn't start. Luckily I was at a garage, they pulled up faulty cam position sensor so replaced it.. now it comes up with P0341-00-00 implausible signal. They double checked it, checked the timing and the wiring, it does start now but not well and still comes up with the fault. The only things out of the ordinary that day was I started it up when it had been left in reverse gear and rather than just lurching there was a hell of a bang! but it started and ran fine after. Then I jet washed the car and engine, with it running and it was fine till later on that day. They suggest checking the ecu, any ideas? Cheers G
  9. hi, I am thinking of buying this inlet manifold for my lupo turbo project but not sure if it will fit looks like it will from the photos but wanted to know if any one had fitted this inlet manifold to a lupo 1.4 s ahw engine? it is a polo 6n2 gti 1.6 16v inlet manifold hear are some photos, Inlet manifold by anthony.gaulter, on Flickr Inlet manifold by anthony.gaulter, on Flickr any info please
  10. Hello Ive bought my first ever VW lupo, its a 1.4 16v auto and i love it! However, I was driving it normal london conditions - i.e Standstill traffic and the water sign started flashing and the temperature needle had hit 110. Im seriously hoping the gasket isnt blown, i doubt it is as the coolant is a normal colour and there is so far no loss of oil When i bought the car it used to run a little cool but i assumed it may have been missing a thermostat. To be honest, after all the overheating issues ive experienced in BMW's i wasnt that bothered if it ran a little cool. I've lost no coolant and no oil. There was no steam being released from anywhere. It feels like the electric fan didnt kick in either but im not 100% sure of this. Seeing as how I have enough oil and coolant, im thinking the thermostat, fingers crossed theres one in there has failed. the hose pipes going to the electric fan ispiping hot, the return pipe or lower pipe is cooler, this is leading me to believe the thermostat is stuck in the closed position and not allowing the water to travel? When i drove with the heating on full blast i got hot air so i know its not a bleeding issue. im thinking of taking the thermostat out for the time being and leaving it out, can i cause any harm doing this for a short while? plus can anybody how to to actually take the stat out? im guessing i squeeze the clip, take the pipe off and the stat should just be there. By the way if i squeeze the clip do I ned to replace the clip or can i stick on a jubilee clip should i need one? Plus once i open it up do i need to bleed the system again? Can anyone please direct me to the bleed valve as well? Any help is much appreciated Ta
  11. I am wanting to upgrade my throttle body on my lupo 1.4s 16v (AHW engine) been told that the polo 1.4 16v AFH engine throttle body is a straight swop is this right? And which polo is that off 6n2? And I want to upgrade my inlet manifold as I have a ko3 turbo on my lupo and been told I could crack it with the boost? Been told I can use the polo AFH inlet manifold as well but as far as I know they are still plastic :/ Any help would be nice
  12. Hello ladies and gentlemen of club lupo i wish to present to you my lupo "lois" my 99 1.4 16v which has had a sport put in it (apparently) atm i have a custom skip exhaust (as in an exhaust out of a skip) coilovers which are being replaced for lowering springs and im in the middle of chucking some Kyalami alloys on
  13. This morning I bought a blue 1.4e Lupo. I knew the 16v would be a bit lively, however I have driven an Ibiza sport with the same engine and it seems so flat in comparison to this, definitely not standard (apart from the induction kit). So, I'd like to know if anyone knows who this car belonged to, what they did to it and possibly why they sold it. It was bought in Nottingham, and has been in this general area from new I assume: First 3 letters of the Reg are T68, it has a brand new throttle body and a BMC CDA induction kit and I think FK's all round (probably wrong) Anyway, Im in love with it and havent even picked it up yet. Liam
  14. hi I have a lupo 1.4s with a ko3 turbo on it, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator up to 5bar, manual boost controller, front mount intercooler, spaced out spark plugs, and going to get lupo gti injectors and a new ecu when I find one, so I am looking at lowering the compression ratio on the engine it is at the standard 10.5 to 1 I have been told it needs to be 9 to 1 is the right? and how big of a shim will I need or can I put 2 gas kits in?
  15. So I have a ko3 turbo on my lupo 1.4s 75bhp I am wanting to lower the compression ratio on it but not sore if to put 2 gas kits in or to get a shim made and how thick dose the shim need to be? To lower the ratio it is the standard 10.5 to 1 now been told I need it at 9 to 1 any help would be nice.
  16. Ok, so I brought some brake discs for my 1.4 16v thinking they were 240mm, however they turned out to be 256mm! I filtered the parts for my REG and it said that they would fit, and from a very quick read online apparently I will be able to fit the 256's. Can anyone confirm this so I don't have to go and buy some 240's now? Thanks from Lewis

  20. Okay so heres my first car. I bought her in January. She came, de-badged with front arches rolled. Tires were bald so got new boots all round. She came with wheel trims but after ripping them off to change tyres i realised she'd look alot nicer without the tacky things. The engine was absolutely disgusting inside and dutterssssssss. So i got a paintbrush and some gum remover and made her all fresh. slammed in some new blue sidelights Then i decided it was time to make my steelies look a little nicer... Got myself some smooth hamerite and a brush and gave them a touch up after sanding. Got some center caps from the local Scrap yard and im really happy with how they've turned out. Now heres some stuff i've put together... More stuff planned for the near future, Black roof soon! Thanks, Sam

  23. Hey fellow Lupo'ers, Tom here. I feel that its about time that I make my on topic for my Loop. So I've been on these forums since last summer browsing for ideas and general boredom killing. So I past my test last May than 2 days kater jetted of to America to work at a camp for my summer., During this time my old man decided to go out and purchase me my very own Lupo... ( Not quite a surprise, only car I wanted to start of with and told him to keep an eye out while away) Anyway got back late September so only really been driving it for a few months so nothing really major done to it yet, but have so many ideas as long as my budget holds out... Got it completely standard minus a 'boy racer' style gear knob. Its a nice little Lupo Sport 1.4 16v ( had a soft spot for the centre exhaust so wanted this one more than anything ) It cost me £800, And insurance costs £1200, being 21 and first car. Had just over 10k miles so had been driven a bit, had to replace cam belt and door hinge but that's all that's really had to be done.... Although the horn and central locking are not working and drivers side window doesn't work;. This may get photo heavy pretty quick, quite a few saved pictures all ready to go. Hopefully if my picture uploading skills are on point your be able to see what I'm working with... Things I'd Like to do: Lower on CoiloversNew Wheels ( unsure on which ones)GTI exhaustBrand new head unit - Going Double DinNew speakers - preferably component ( unsure on make )New seats - Something better than 'Tom the mouse' seatsWind DeflectorsDe-Badge rearColour front and rear badgesBoot BuildVW Mudflaps Going to get new ones, as want OEM onesRed Stitched GaiterLED Number Plate LightsAuto Glym Vallet bag + productsLupo GTI HT leads) So this is me for now... will keep you posted on little things I have done so far, questions always welcome and be happy to share any ideas Adiós, Tom.... P.s I'm based in Herne Bay Kent, so I obviously be looking at going to some meets, never gone as a driver always a passenger.
  24. Hello I'm sorry if I'm gonna bore you with what seems to be a common problem that is mentioned on here a lot but please bear with me..... I've got a W reg Lupo E 1.4 AHW with 95k on it and it's started playing silly buggers with me. It began about about three weeks ago when starting her up in the morning, i turn the key and it appeared to start up fine for a second or two but then the revs would struggle to hold idle and then drop before finally cutting out altogether. The only way to get it started and keep it idling was to keep my foot on the throttle as I turn the key and for about 5mins holding a steady idle before moving off. Once the car had been running for a while and warmed up it would idle fine and if I went to the shops or whatever then got back in and started it up it would start up as if nothing was wrong, so it's only when cold that it happens. Now, this did already happen to me about 8 months ago and I had a mechanic look at it and check the codes and it turned out all that needed doing was having the throttle body thoroughly cleaned out and reset, which he did. After that it worked perfectly. So when this started happening again my first thought was the throttle body, but I also did some reading on here for other possible causes and figured the temperature sensor should be changed as well since that might explain why it would only happen when cold starting. So I roll my sleeves up and get dirty And did it fix it? Did it heck. So much for my hopes of a cheap and easy fix (just for once I wanted to fix my car instead of someone else). Oh well, back it went to the same mechanic who checked the codes and again he cleaned out the throttle body and by the time he finished it was starting up like normal - but then it was already warmed up by then. He said it was most likely that the throttle body was on its way out and if it starts doing it again then I should probably get a new one. Sure enough the next morning, starting from cold, it wouldn't play ball. Back to the drawing board. Now I gather a new throttle body isn't exactly cheap an I'm not exactly flush right now so I've just been living with it until I can find the cash. Plus I have a feeling, knowing my kinda luck, that I could change the throttle body and the problem will still be there! So I keep reading on here to try to figure out if there is another cause for the problem. Seems to be lots of mentions of EGR valves and stuff relating to that but I'm still trying to get my head around where and what all these bits are. Then a funny thing happened. After a very busy few days and seriously without meaning to do it, I found myself driving home on the M8 one night last week with the fuel level practically at zero. I mean the needle had barely moved off the bottom. Not good. Yes, I know you're not supposed to run the tank until it's empty and I am very sorry to you all, I've let you and myself down. I didn't intend to do it, honest. Anyway, I made it to the nearest garage on what must have been fumes alone and filled up. Now I know the car was already warmed up at this point, but I swear something was different when I got back in and started it up - it just felt more alive. And the next morning guess what? Started perfect first time, immediate take off with no forced idling for 5mins. And it did this every time I started her up.....for about 4 days. Now it's gone back to cutting out as before. So my question is could this have anything to do with the fuel pump/filter or something along those lines? Surely it can't be a coincidence that the problem disappeared after I almost ran out of fuel? Can there be a connection? Could running the tank almost dry have somehow woken up the fuel pump (pardon my wishy washy descriptions - not too good with the techno speak) back into normal operation, if indeed it was failing somehow and causing the problem? Cheers for reading all that! Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I promise not to run on empty ever again P.S. brilliant forums by the way, I've learned a ton of stuff on here. Thanks!
  25. The Problem My brother in Law just got a Lupo 1.4 Sport 16v, AFH engine, Cable throttle. The revs keep dropping on it. Try and hold it at a constant RPM and it will be fine for 4 or 5 seconds then the revs will drop. Sometimes they drop lower than other times. Sometimes they come back up to where they were, sometimes they don't and it goes to idle level. Relavent History Aparently the guy who sold the car said it had had a new Throttle Body fitted at some point. What I have tried First Attempt Straight away I noticed quite a bit of oil in the air filter, coming in from the crank breather pipe. So I thought that might be the problem. Cleaned out the breather pipe as it was blocked with thick mayo, then cleaned out the crank breather filter/seperator box as that was blocked too. Then I noticed oil leaking from the underside of the intake manifold, so I opened that up and cleaned it all out and re-sealed with some high temp silicone gasket. While it was apart I noticed that the sensor on the left side of the Intake manifold (opposite side to the Throttle body) was covered in oil, so I sprayed a bit of electrical contact cleaner on it. I also cleaned out the inside of the Throttle body, just the butterfly area, I did not open up the black cover. So I put it back together and the problem was still there. Second Attempt I have mechanic friend who has just got an expensive new Snap-On fault scanner so I borrowed that and pulled the codes. But neither of us really know how to use it other than to pull engine codes and turn off engine/service lights. It came back with: 00519 Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00518 Throttle Position Sensor (G69) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 0530 Throttle Position Sensor (G88) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00523 Intake Air Temp Sensor (G42) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00282 Throttle Position Actuator (V60) Output Open Intermittant There was no engine light on, so I thought that perhaps these were old codes from when the old throttle body failed. So I hoped that cleaning them might sort the problem and I could also see if any of the codes came back. So I cleared the codes and the problem was still there. I was testing it while parked on the drive for about 40 mins and none of the fault codes have come back. Third Attempt It had a function on the scanner to 'Reset Throttle Body' so my mate tried it. Anyway it did its thing, we tried it and the problem was completely different and much worse!! It wouldn't hold stable revs at all. So we did a code scan and it came back with: 01087 Basic Setting Not Performed So I went and googled that while he kept trying the 'Reset Throttle Body' function and did all the actuator tests on the scan tool. When I came back out the code had gone and the problem was back to its original state. Phewww What Can I Do Next? - Can I open up the black plastic part of the Throttle Body and clean out anything in there? Anything else? after that I'm stumped....... Please Help!!
