  1. well I give up...he he now put her up for sale in piston heads etc and has said he wants a B5 Audi A4 for some reason...says he fallen out of love with the car, so I give up...
  2. NFBR - I know the best would be to replace it, but its just been replaced and untill my brothers comp comes through from his crash back in Feb (not his fault... old guy passed out, hit him head on and smashed one ankle, fractured his heal, and his rist plus many other cuts, briuses and marks...ended up with 2 plates, 2 screws and about 10 pins to put his ankle back together) funds are tight for him, cleaning should prolong it untill the issue is fixed and then we will fit another new one. Mike_M - the valve will increase flow a little... but it wont be smooth flow, so it wont really be adding any power the party as it were.. Whinney - The ecu cant be mapped via the port is what I have been toid UNLESS it is a bosch ECU, which this one isn't, I have been told the ecu could opened and old skool chiiped as it were, but thats a lot of hassle and cost for bugger all gain. when the EGR is clogging it is dragging the idle down and causing lumpy running, I know its the egr as 1) the ecu has flagged the fault once, and 2) when its unplugged it clears up, but unplugging is not the answer) (I wont start on power runs on dynos, all I say is dont count your horses... I could find you a load or lose you a load depending how cleaver the dyno is (a proper dyno that coasts down to work out the losses is on the 6 figures and need alot of investment as these are what i see at the vehicle manufactures... but anyways) Back on track........do we recon then that getting the rear probe back in and spaced out of the gas stream will help clear things up so to speak.
  3. I hate to tell you this, but the valve is there for drive by noise reasons...(my area of work... vehicle homogation testing) that valve will be there so for the noise approval the drive by figure is less that 74db(A) but when giving it the beans you want a bit of exhust noise to enhance the experiance... best way is a valve that opens. lots and lots of cars have... astons have a valve thats opened by a relay above x rpm in gear at x speed and x throttle position,... if you by pass the relay you get a better bark at all rpms (but it does put the emissions light on as I found out when I had one for testing lol)
  4. the ecu cant be remapped, already looked into that. I will hassle him to get the second probe put back in and see how it goes... ill clean the pre cat one up too for good measure. hopefully this will sort the issues out and once again I will be proved right (I said from the day he fitted it to get the post cat probe put back in..)
  5. THANKYOU!!! maybe now my brother will be belive me! he was on about getting rid of Rosie as she isnt running right (if he does I am having her back off him!) I have said that the rear probe is used to help control the trim but he didnt belive me (Eddie over on club gti also said this!) the post cat probe is also used to make sure the cat is working (which it isnt as its been decatted... but I have seen in america they space the probe out of the exhaust gas stream with ainti fueling spark plug spacers and this seems to allow the probe to sniff enough so it thinks the cats there! (I did suggest the best option was the 200 cel race cat that ashely sell that way he is fully road legal!) (and for exhausts on NA cars you need to tune the exhaust so the puleses help with scavanging, this will help draw the burnt gasses out and suck the fresh charge in... but this links in with cam profile, duration, overlap, manifold header lengths and pipe sizing (too big a pipe and the gasses slow down too quick losing power.... too small and you have too much of a restriction...but this is well above what most folks on here are doing to tune their cars..) has anyone else had any problems when fitting the ashley manifold? (the car did have the raceland manifold on it when I brought the car for the wife a few years back, but the last owner just left the lambda probe unplugged as it was under the sump on that manifoild where all 4 pipes joined together, and left the rear probe out as it was decatted... I extended the lambda probe wires and had the cat put back in and hooked both probes up, the car went OK but would flag up that the probe was taking too long to respond (which I could have poss fixed by heat wrapping the manifold... how ever I sold the manifold and put the OE back on, but by that time the egr was already coked up..)
  6. My brothers fitted a ashley 4 branch manifold to his 2002 arosa sport, before it was fitted the old EGR valve was clogging up and causing issues (but it wasnt known that it was the EGR valve untill just before the manfold was swapped) the new egr was fitted and all seemed well, then he fitted the ashely 4 branch, and the problems started again.... he has fitted the decat pipe and left the post cat lambda unplugged, which isn't helping things, and within the last 2/3 weeks and prob 500 miles the new EGR has become clogged and stuck again.. I have cleaned it out and got it working but it isn't ideal. does anyone else have any problems when running the 4 branch? what have you all done with regards to the post cat probe? are other running a race cat?? any egr clogging issues? any advice or help would be apprecaited as it is starting to pee me off now! cheers Karl.
  7. which EGR valve is fitted? any pics? and do you have leccy windows? if so how much for the drivers side switch (assuming its working?) I can collect as I work just outside nuneaton, ta Karl.
  8. Im after a working EGR valve from a 1.4 16v (drive by wire model) and I also need a drivers side electric window switch, and a passenger side stubby mirror cover in reflex silver, if anyone can sort me out le me know ta Karl.

  11. the "jagged" bits is the oe under seal on the sill flange, all cars have it, you just notice it more on a silver one, you could smooth it right down if you so wished.
