  1. hey i have a little problem with the loop when i turn left its light and fine but when i turn right the stearinf stiffens up. i read i may be realated the the cam belt needing to be replaced but after doing this its still there! not so bad but its there its intermitent some times i does others it dont is the system just belt driven or is it electricly assisted also on the gti? thanks Ben.....

  6. these babys arived thismorning got them fitted and Ben finnished the cambelt! was well and truely buggerd all fitted in
  7. fit perfect! havent drove the car yet but will let you know runs sweet
  8. right mess! the garage selling it is 5 mins down the road from us
  9. hopefully they will have one! will see thankyou for your input! i wont be using the impact gun as i dont have a air line so no worrys about that

  11. casper big help that mate! based on a pic of another cam locking tool i thaught the inlet cam hole had to be at 3 o clock and the exhaust at 9 o clock so that was was i was worried about! but mine is the same as yours! i see what you mean now about needing another rotation on the crank making them both 9 o clock they are both at 3 at the moment! yeh the exhaust will deffo be 1 tooth out as its not sitting parralell with the inlet pulley hole. so if i correct that when putting the new belt on it wont cause me any problems? cheers for your help guys. gave up tonight now the cold got the better of me! going to grab a crank locking tool off my because in the morning and have another bash! determine to get it sorted for the mot re test tomorrow
  12. another quicky before i go ahead is the crank pulley what the cambelt uses keyed? or keyless?
  13. your a fookin star mate! you know i have been waiting for someone to say that since 2 oclock! didnt want to touch it as i have never done vag im a ford man and we all know you dont get second chances with cam belts! the exhaust pully must be on back to front which is odd! it deffinatly isnt 180 out as it has been running fine as it is but the thaught did cross my mind! thankyou for your help will continue now into the cold snowy dark
  14. i did do another but seemed to end up in the same place did about 4 full rotations
  15. just doing cambelt on my car! i have it at TDC on Cylinder 1 but the holes are not lining up on the pulleys? i have rotated it a further turn with still no luck any ideas? this is what i have got engine code is AVY if needed

  17. It works! Because we have had it working. Probably just a bad connection somewhere
  18. The MOT garage is a 2min drive away, the car doesnt go up to temp in that time. But i found out from trial and error that the water pump isnt doing its job.
  19. water pump is shot got no heat inside and car goes above normal temp and flashes a red light at me lol as for the brake light my boyfreind said that to him as its his cus whos doing the mot and he said if its there it has to be working but if i was to put some tape over it then it would pass but if its there and fitted from factory it has to work which is fair enough shes nearly there nows

She failed but not on the stuff we thaught it might lol Rear High Level Brake Light Doesnt Work And Rear Off Side Parking Brake dont work very well Ben has had the brake light working so he knows it does and hes going to strip down the rear brakes tomorrow and see whats going on and give them a service! so she did well! didnt think she would pass 1st time but did better than we thaught Ben is going to fit all the bits above tomorrow and sort out the mot problems and she will have a re test and be taxed on thursday

Well shes at the MOT station at the moment so its the moment of truth should have her back within the hour these bits arrived thismorning so will be sorting them out over the next couple of days to hopefully fix the lack of water pump and intermittent power stearing fitted the wipers thismorning for the mot as one of them were split and orderd another toy for her this afternoon more info when it arrives. boyfreind has a pipercross viper off his old car which he is going to fit so will all work nicely together will update as it comes...
