  1. Ball joints are off set so depending on which way round you choose you can move the wheel forward or backwards by swapping left to right and vice versa. I had wrong wishbones in my Arosa tdi and learnt the hard way but discovered I could have a shorter or longer wheelbase
  2. Be quick for sale on bids Lupo Tdi lowish mileage in Harrogate https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295511683755?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=fLifeMWlQ3S&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=eCiWa5iHRrG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE
  3. My first Lupo Tdi did similar and it had a tear in the rubber intercooler pipe. These days I no longer have it but I do also have an Arosa Tdi.
  4. @Roadrash my background is accident repair too, I restore Classics these days and modify things, paint classic bikes too and like making prototype things. I’m self taught and do things the ‘African’ way ie zero or little cost. I see a shape, turn it into an opportunity and form a professional product from it. I like things modified BUT discreet to the extent it looks factory OEM made. Back in the eighties I was going to build a two door VW Jetta or even a two door Ford Orion. It’s that sort of thing… Im currently building a BMW R nineT ‘Tourer ‘ motorcycle and it’s well thought through.
  5. I do think it’s interesting your going to put a DSG unit in the Lupo. I also run a DSG in a caddy 1.6tdi but it has a 1.5-2 second set off delay which some DSG set ups have which for as much as I like some parts of the DSG that bit is outright DANGEROUS. There’s been lots of times I’ve had near misses coming out of junctions because the gap has gone by the time it’s thought about moving off and angry drivers waving so in my case I’ve to drive straight into traffic regardless of any gaps and hope I get a slot! 😱 On the other hand there’s also DSGs that respond immediately and go like **** off a shovel!
  6. Welcome in to the forum and that sounds a very interesting future project
  7. My kit contains the lot from everything you see above and was about £30
  8. This is what’s on the Frost website but they are particularly expensive!! Just need to cross reference on eBay and then they are worth buying
  9. A picture says a thousand words! I’ve to do one of the rear arches and these pics will show you how I do it as it hasn’t yet been done on my Rossa
  10. I’ll get some close up pics. There’s no name unfortunately although everything like that is sold by frost.co.uk Before you look at their site tear your credit card up!!
  11. They are copper panel pins/locators. You need an unusual pair of pliers to fit them. Got them from a restoration show at the nec in 2006. Good bit of kit
  12. Awesome GTI vs Darkside developments. Well I live exactly in between the pair so which address do I stick in my sat nav?? I’m going to treat my ‘Rossa’ Tdi to a bhp refresh. I’m not bothered about super performance but just something up from std. I’ve been running an eBay bodge chip for ages but it don’t ‘alf stink on start up these icy months as I can smell the ‘over fueling’. I’ve taken it off the last 1000 miles so it’s back to std just to see any difference in fuel and there isn’t. I’m also getting 10.5 miles per litre which equates to around 48mph driven medium (spirited and carefully). I don’t understand how some people get 60mpg from the 1.4tdi, that must be a dark art I’ve not found. What sort of costs is a simple remap these days and how much time do tuners spend with you? Anyone used the companies in the title to worth a recommendation?
  13. Some of the things I make and do And I will get round to little ‘Rossa’!
  14. Thank you although that was a driveway repair, I’m more anal that that usually. 🙄🤣🤣🤣🤣
  15. Just did the basics couple of days before the MOT. It needs plenty more like this!!
  16. Speed as far as my senses tell me. After having the gbox reconditioned and the company telling me there wasn’t a great deal wrong with it (ouch!) I thought it would cure it. There was a noise improvement but only a small one. I’m guessing drive shaft department as everything is now new. I’m just studying differences on left and right hand sweepers on the motorway as that’s where it’s noticeable
  17. The lot is very true! On another note….. after spending ££££££’s and ⏱🕰⏰ time on my little precious turd 💩 I still have a very slow resonating sound @60mph+. 🙄
  18. Well I’ve nearly had this car two years in April and not really done anything to the bodywork as it’s now looking atrocious! For the last MOT I made a nsf sill inner and outer repair with an additional floor repair too but just left it spray canned up. I really need my arse kicking as im a restorer although work freelance never get time to sort my own things nor actually have anywhere to repair my own cars as drive is too narrow to use my garage 🙄
  19. Not from me but I like the full story!
  20. I’ll second that regarding the lupo infection!! Welcome back.
  21. Just been reading this old thread from going back to early days. I like the general thoughts behind it. I was just trying to think what I could contribute. My background is body restoration and fabrication so it’s a bit different in need as it seems the mechanical stuff is more in the need to keep these kult Cars alive.
  22. There’s plenty of breakers around although it’s a very grey area or should is say totally dark side your requesting on an open forum……
  23. Did sound like the ex missus went with the ex lupo and new owners!! 🤣🤣🤣
  24. Another job then for another day I suppose………. 😜.. This car is a never ending labour of love. As I’ve just repaired the NS sill front, floor and Apost bottom. It had a hole that sunk the titanic!!
