  2. im glad im not the only one who knows about the Qdance events lol! i wanting to go over to Defqon 1 next year
  3. underwoods has 1 dark metalic blue mk1 arosa in when i was last there. its one of the scrappies up in bonnybridge mate
  4. mate when i was needing wheel bolts i went to my local alloy wheel supplier and asked what bolts he had in, let me away with half a dozen and told to go take my pick and come back to him with what ones i needed. i wouldnt be faffing about with wheel nuts mate, it might cost a couple of quid, but when its important you cant risk it
  5. ok not much to report from today other than we went to test drive it and the clutch isnt wanting to clear reverse, so ive went and got a new clutch for it as well so a new Valeo clutch kit so hopefully that will resolve the problem as it was clearing reverse before the engine swap so its going to be something daft lol! so the clutch is being done on monday, The tyres on the new 14" alloys did confuse me a bit lol! i thought they were 175/60/14 but they rubbed on the arches which i thought was odd as the standard tyres are 185/55/14 for the arosa's with 14'S. so i thought arse to it and went and picked up some part worn's for it just to get it through its MOT and found that the reason why the tyres were rubbing as there was 185/65/14's on them LOL! so the new tyres are mounted and on the car little by little i am getting there with this car!!!
  6. man i have to tip my hat to you liam, some times you do get some really crap descriptions of problems but thats a stroke of genius!
  7. PMSL!!! i know where Joh stays and work up there quite alot and passed you a fair few times on the express way, as for ruggy, again my old stomping ground and spent ALOT of time up there as well!
  8. well the heart transplant has went well, the garage has had it running today and said " its firing on all 4 and sounds as sweet as a nut" and that it looked like the car had recently had a clutch done on it so another brucey bonus! they checked it over to make sure its selecting every gear and it looks like they need to adjust the cables slightly as they said its clipping reverse slightly so they are going to tweek it tomorow so all being well, that should be done tomorow, weekend tasks - rebuild the front end and realine headlamps as the passenger side one was slightly recessed before i took the front pannel off - put the right size tyres on the new 14" alloys. the tyres that are on are something like 175/60/14 or 175/65/14, either which way they are rubbing on the arches so im picking up some 185/55/14's. Hopefully that will stop the scrubbing and then we wont fail our MOT on that lol! I will admit i know its going to fail its MOT on the following - headlamp alinement - wiper blades being shafted so hopefully no more than that lol!
  9. ok, so the engine swap has been done and we found that the battery was shot to hell, 3 days on trickle charge and still couldnt start the car so a new battery was fitted and some new HT leads. the garage got bored and pulled the old engine appart, and they found a list of faults, including that the engine was rock solid as the coolant in the cylinder had rusted the piston in solid! so tomorow we should be fully up and running once again!!! oh and on a brucey bonus, the water leak in the driverside footwell has gone away, looks like the water shedders need replaced in the doors lol!
  10. its prob mounted in the same places as the arosa, take the front bumper off, then there are two bolts that hold it on from the front, behind the bumper, then theres about 4 bolts across the top, then 2 bolts on the sill + a gum that holds it on at the sill as well. + you will need to remove the arch liner
  11. the lupo ones will fit as well mate
  12. well you and your "laser" could take over the world
  13. unless your supercharging a v8 and putting it in, strengthening the chasis is like pissing in the wind.
  14. there was a scrappy near me that had manual ones for £20 each
  15. another week, more progress. After talking to the engine supplier it was found the the shells were shot on the engine and it was going to be quicker to replace the engine. So i picked that up the other day and dropped it off with the garage. So today was a quick stop by the garage to prep the car for the engine change to speed things up a bit and to save a couple of quid on an hours labour, and we are now like this so if everything goes to plan, the engine should be in by friday!!
  16. cool, im just waiting on the garage getting back to me as they are suspecting a bent hub causeing the alinement to be out by a mile so ....
  17. Guys i might be needing a front passenger hub for a sport/gti/tdi. what have you got?
