spoke to a mate who works in a garage, he said several things could caused it but more simple things like a duff bulb or the bulb holder could of caused it as well

unfortunately mate, 99% of most couriers wont transport an Airbag due to the explosive charge in it

again after more digging and a thank you to dale, it looks as if the central locking control module has a fail safe mode that it looks like it could have triggered into locking the car down. so i just need to find somebody with vagcom in scotland to reset this fail safe to see if that work. other issues, the boot handle has decided that its not going to open the boot even with the key so im now on the scrounge for a new boot handle as well ( a remote central locking on, part number - 6K0 827 565 E )
