  1. Hi, My Lupos' exhaust has been blowing lately. I took it to a rapid fit type place and they told me that there is a small hole in the flexible tube that (i think) connects the exhaust just forward of the CAT to the dwn pipe. They said that i can either buy a new CAT via them for >£200 or i can go to a different garage and pay around £150 for a new piece of flexible tubing to be welded in. Both options sound very expensive to me for a piece of flexible tubing Has anyone else had a similar problem? Can we buy some of this flexible tubing (from the web etc) and then weld it in via a mate etc on the cheap? Would it be better/cost effective to get a full stainless system? Cheers.
  2. OMFG just done this after putting it off for ages Took me less than 30 seconds to get the heater speed knob off and the bulb out!!! For any of you about to do this use a section of aquarium hose. Its cheap, easily available and fits perfectly snug over the bulb. Slot it over the bulb, push the tube on and then gently pull the tube and hence the bulb out of the bulb holder.....easy peasy:) Good luck
  3. Come on people surely there is someone on here who has changed the rear brake shoes?
  4. Hi i have searched but alas nowt ANybody steer me in the direction of a brake shoe replacement DIY for my 2000 Lupo 1.4s 16V Cheers
  5. Please delete this! (I filed the plastic away a bit and it now fits:)) hI I'm trying to replace the stereo in my VW Lupo 1.4s - the cage for the new stereo is proving tricky to get into the dash - any ideas? It seems to be getting caught on the lower corners! Urgh - i have tried the stereo and its working great - just need to get it actually into the car. Also ingeniously i have routed my 3mm stero aux through one of the redundant switches under the coin tray please help i want my stero in:)
  6. Thanks for the help but doesnt this just cancel the traffic anouncement simialr to pressing TP If so this wont switch the TP function off for good
  7. Hi The radio in my Lupo is playing tricks on me. Every now and then the radio stops playing abruptly and then continues. This is all accompanied by a loud crackle as if the power is interupted. I think its an over zealous TP and the break in reception is the various TPs coming in. For the ones that actually hang around long enough i press the TP button to cancel the report but most events are so short this is not an option. Is there a way of turning the traffic anouncement fucntion off permanently? Cheers
  8. Woohoo It was the pedal box VW fixed it FOC in the end - phew The car is now - awesome:)
  9. Yeah i thought so Anyway its going in tomorrow so we shall see
  10. Ahha well the clutcu pedal is about 10mm below the break pedal I tried to have a lok this morning at the pedal box itself but i dont have a trox screwdriver so ic ouldnt take the plastic bit off to have a good look. I couldnt see much but the pedal/pedal box creaks as you apply the cluch. I think it has either broken is is very close to breaking. Will VW do it FOC if its not broken but shows signs of near breaking? If not I wonder if they will still charge me the £117 inspection charge:(
  11. I have gratefully managed to get VW to look at a potentially broken pedal box in my 1.4s Lupo FOC Thing is i have also been told to look forward to a 1hr labour charge (£117) if it turns out to not be the pedal box. Is there any way a numpty like me can check to make sure its the pedal box before i go. The car has done 34k miles and is 2000 plate Just had a 40k service and cam kit by an independent VW (and they noticed nowt) The gear changes are crunchy unless you push the cluch to the floor...and then a little further again. The cluch feels light and as normal as i would imagine plus the clutch pedal/pedal box creaks/squeaks as you use the cluch. Many thanks for any help.
  12. Can anyone please tell me how I can check if the pedal box has gone in my 1.4s Lupo Its 2000 plate and done 34k miles The gears crucnh and i have to push the cluch to the floor and then a little bit more to get smooth changes. The car is booked into Listers VW to have the pedal box done FOC BUT If its not the pedal box then I have been told I will have to pay £117 (1hr) labour charge. So I need to be sure before I go. Any help please
  13. I didnt understand the price thing anyway I just need pictures please
  14. How painful is it getting the surround off? Is it pretty much as described above? Thanks
  15. Mine has just stopped working too. How difficult is this to do? Are there any pics (or is it that I cant see them because I am in work....)
  16. I have found this thread: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?sho...l=heater+lights But the pictures are not visable to me. Maybe because I am in work/maybe they aren't there anymore. If the latter is true can anyone dig the pictures out for me? Cheers
  17. Phew thanks for the heads up on the condensation gunk problem. I would have had a panic attack thinking gasket. The car isnt going through water so as you say probably not the gasket thank God
  18. Hi The car has done 34k miles (2000) and just been serviced (cam belts + throttle body clean + oil change) I have just bought the car so I asked the garage how how the car is in general. When i picked it up from the garaage and they said its all good. Ever since though i notice quite a bit of condensation from the exhaust even after a 10 min ride around. If i rev it there is a wet patch on the ground beneath the exhaust. The oil and water are both clear - ie no gunk Is this normal for these cars? Should I be worried at all? Thanks for looking.
  19. Excellent cars in that case. Really impressed with the interior. Throttle body neads a clean and the cambelts are goona get done apart from that the car is kick ass
  20. Yeah soz about lack of the pictures The carbon fibre is a bit misleading. Its not like carbon fibre at all really The handbrake gear stick gaitor and steering wheel are just nicely textured rubbery material which looks nice and sporty. Also the dash (passanger airbag area and over the dial clusters looks really good quality (Audi like i guess) By the sounds of it my S is standard as they come bar the SR and that these awesome little cars are inherently
  21. Ok so i havent checked many other 1.4S's in fact I have only ever been inside a 1.4E which was abit spartan. Mine has full electric tilt/slide sunroof elec windows two tone seats which look a bit sporty actually (good size bolsters etc) funky sporty looking steering wheel, handbrake and gear stick gaiter. (it looks faux carbon fibr but looks cool) Nice chrome door handles and handbrake button The dash looks higher quality than the E i went in too (in fact as I would expect in the sport maybe) Anyway see what you think (hard i know without pics) my bad if this is all standard in the S ta
  22. Heater fan only working on one or two settings will no doubt be due to a blown heater fan resistor. This happened on my Civic. Different heater fan speeds are 'switched' in via different resistors. The highest resistor is swicthed in for the low fan speeds (to dissipate the power) and so as most people pootle around with the fan on setting 1 these often burn out after time. If it is then just get a new heater fan resisor pack from the scappies or buy one from VW. Honda charged around £20 IIRC
  23. Thanks Got a local independent VW guy on it £59 + vat for 10k service £140 + vat for cambelts He said he would clean out the throttle body too
