  1. Hi everyone, cor it's been a while since I last put a question on this forum. Well, as per the title really....don't suppose anyone knows the gearbox code for 2001 arosa TDi?? Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers Mark
  2. Hi Craig Top project fella, keep up the good work I will watch with interest. Mark
  3. What ARB bushes are you changing?? Are you just talking about the clamps or the ARB drop-link bushes (or the ARB drop-link dougnuts that sandwich the ARB)? Mark
  4. Much like has already been said really. The green that you got supplied will just be base coat and will require laquering too, but the yellow will not. Typical VW, giving you two different paint types eh. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Mark
  5. Entertainment value - 10/10!! lol style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  6. Have you had a look at powerflex??? They have piccies too. Clicky here:- http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products.asp?ca...&submit1=GO Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />
  7. Terry, I have a brand new switch here should you need one. Chances are it's the fuse, but sometimes, a little battery disconnect/re-connect can solve some problems too. I was getting problems with one-touch facility on my lecky windows, tried several bits and pieces, but it was disconnecting/re-connecting the battery that sorted it in the end. 8. So how can I fit a lovely big dump valve to my car then Al?? I really would love to hear that wooooshy sound you know!! Lol style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Hey mate I'm sorry, couldn't resist. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Mark
  9. Hey Andi, you certainly seem to know what it's like to be behind a TDi, is that cos you've not managed to get infront of one yet??. Lol style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Yeah, just got my new tax renewal form....£35, yippee style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

    ARB bushings

The GTi ARB is 22mm, so I'd be inclined to go for 21mm personally, you don't want any movement and if you go for 23mm there will be excessive play. Mark
  11. Lol. Yeah, I bet you do!! We are talking height here are we??? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I'm a tiny 6'1" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Mark
  12. Yeah, as already mentioned above, they will fit with no probs. As far as, 'what we think of them', is concerned thats a toughy, cos it's my belief you pay cheap money you get cheap discs in return. I paid cheap money for a set of G60 drilled & grooved discs from a motor factor and after 10k they were warped to **** and needed replacing style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> Mark
  13. OLW did you get my PM okay? Everything on the beam is a straight swap with the exception of the two handbrake cables, these were the only additional things that I had to buy (£6 each). Bleeding the brakes is a piece of cake especially if you use a pressure bleeder. I too had made sure that brake components were compatible when I changed my beam over and to give me piece of mind I put the car on the brake rollers at my mates MOT bay to make sure brake performance was as it should be for both foot and hand brake. It was perfik!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Mark
  14. Cheers Chris, I think a valuable lesson has been learnt. I am awaiting a call back from the manager at the Asda store near Wheatley, Oxford which is where I filled my car up with diesel. I recall some time ago that the store had a reputation for water in their petrol, but they have re-done their whole forecourt so therefore thought that their poor quality fuel problem was sorted.......NOT!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" /> Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  15. Thanks guys, today I am the bearer of good news. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> My initial gut feeling about s*itty diesel from Asda was well founded!! Today I removed the sender unit from the tank and completely siphoned the tank dry and cleaned the sender unit. If I'd put the diesel into a pint glass that I removed from the tank you would not have been able to see through it, it was black. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" /> I put 20 litres of BP Ultimate diesel from my Jerry can into the car and 'hey presto' all was well. She'e a great little mover and is running as sweet as a nut again. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Mark
  16. Thanks for your responses Andi and Max. I had considered the boost sensor, but TBH wasn't exactly sure of sypmtoms of MAF failure, other than the car's poor running/performance (i.e. I didn't know if my symptoms were common to a MAF failure??). Max, if you don't mind me asking, how much were both items?? I don't know why, but I keep getting this niggling feeling about fuel starvation. Have we had any problems with diesel pumps....I don't recall any?? The weather was a little cold last night, but it's warmer today and the problem hasn't gone away, so waxing doesn't seem lightly. I'm letting her idle outside for a while, cos I'm starting to kill the battery. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Mark
  17. Anyone else had any running problems with their TDi's?? I was running into work last night when the car seemed to be hesitating slightly, then she proceeded to cut-out. After about 1 minute of turning the engine over she would tickover fine and rev fine for a couple of seconds then would cut-out. This happens repeatedly. I must admit my first thoughts were 'dirty diesel', but this seems more and more unlikely now. I have nevertheless changed the fuel filter and this problem still persists. My second thought was the MAF sensor.......anyone with any help or advice, I would be very gratefully. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Cheers Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  18. Yes Wayne I smoothed it about 10-12 months ago mate. Smoothed all the lines around the lower grilles too. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Mark
  19. Crickey!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Well I'll add some fuel to this fire too.......I'd give you some negative too Andi, just for the hell of it! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  20. Hi Mike, this a piccie of the front of the car with ducts fitted mate. border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Like I said mate, I'm not running an induction kit, but am running ducted cold air fed into airbox. One thing you will have to bear in mind is that, should you (in the winter especially) run in to flooded water that you could hydraulic the engine if water is injested into it. So be careful how you work it!! Cheers Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  21. Have a little looky here bud.. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> http://www.performancealloys.com/alloy_wheel_spacers.asp Mark
  22. You still not done that yet Paul??? I was just reading through the posts and thought about you and was going to mention your name and 'hey presto' the next post I came across was yours. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  23. ArosaPD

    1.4 tdi

Totally agree with the above....no benefit to be gained in anyway, shape, or form by fitting one to your TDi. Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  24. May have been me Chris. Is it the car below?? Mark style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
