  1. I guess thats voltage regulator fault, don’t your headlights change brightness from very dark to very bright when rpm changes?
  2. I would love to daily drive 1Z or AAZ in Lupo, but for Lupo it is not as easy conversion as for MK1 Golf, however it is much easier than 1.8T conversion.
  3. I like the fact, and this is really the easiest way. I think passat b5, skoda and audi speakers will fit as well. I also agree the ebay set is not a great deal, but i think oem speakers are not fine with aftermarket radio units, because 50x4 heads are too powerfull for them. EDIT: with not a great deal, I meant don't buy cheap replacement speakers, take some fine quality aftermarket, or don't try to upgrade at all.
  4. You will need some tools and skills anyway. You can take any 6,5 inch speakers, cut some risers (or buy them) and connect the two wires.
  5. Is your crankshaft breather clean and without vacuum leaks?
  6. Thank you! Now I understand the idea of no adjustment needed.
  7. Yes, the fully seated is the adjustment whats needs to be done, workshop manual also uses the word "adjustment" and after rebuild should be done for input shaft, output shaft and differential. https://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/polo-mk3/power_transmission/5-speed_manual_gearbox_085/gearboxmechanicsgearsshaftsinternal_operation/adjusting_input_shaft/ https://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/polo-mk3/power_transmission/5-speed_manual_gearbox_085/gearboxmechanicsgearsshaftsinternal_operation/adjusting_output_shaft/ https://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/polo-mk3/power_transmission/5-speed_manual_gearbox_085/final_drive_differential_differential_lock/adjusting_differential/
  8. I found a mechanic who can repair my gearbox for proper price, but the price only includes single adjustment of conical roller bearings to “regular width”. Adjusting of conical bearings is the expensive and time consuming stuff which can not be done in 2h rebuild. Anyway, I will take a shot and try this method of repair.
  9. This manual specifically mentions they are Lupo compatible.

    Wtf

you cant polish two layers of paint, it must be blended (imho blending is not easy at all for beginners). I also advice to putt the moulding back. More over I dont have any mouldings on my Lupo and my doors has a lot of dents from suv owners i guess.
  11. If sound comes from diff bearings, then breaking with gears should make a feeling that something is grinding. I actually hear it for 20 000km that my diff bearings must have to be replaced, first i heard them while releasing throtthle on high speed, now i hear them while driving even on slow speeds.
  12. the one milage you can see is stored in speedo circuit board. And if the LCD looks faded, then swapping circuit board is not an opton to solve it.
  13. OBD can show O2 sensor heater live data as well, @Shane56 check that too.
  14. Wow, You already removed anything needed for replacement. Saldly I can not see it from this angle. Its under the part that holds the beige plastic center part. Everything looks fresh, is there a lot freeplay?
  15. I agree adjusting can help, but No11 is made from some kind of a soft plastic, therefore usually rips apart and fells off, without buahing No 11 there is a lot of freeplay when you move shifter sideways. I recommend to pull up shifter boot and take a look if there is or is no freeplay.
  16. Your shifter bushings are worn out, especially Number 11, but if you already disassemble the shifter, replace at least 9,14,29 as well.
  17. Might be therefore some make manual 3l’s after automatic gearbox failure. I have seen kits available.
  18. 3L has DSG gearbox and direct injection diesel engine, nothing uncommon nowadays. Not as cheap maintaince as old engines and gearboxes, but they are reliable if maintained well. Aluminum parts are great, they are light and dont rust at all.
  19. Firstly, this set up is, most probably, made just for cheap repairing and selling Lupo with broken 1.4 gearbox. Secondly, Lupo petrol engines (except FSI) don't know gearbox speed and Lupo manual gearboxes do not have any connection to ECU, therefore check engine source is just from engine. Connect OBD2 and read the check engine reason, engine should work fine no matter how long you were driving in high revs.
  20. If those are universal replacement ones, I recommend you to solder them instead of using the huge connector. I know there is written not to do that, but thats because you actually need to remove soldering iron from electricity suply at the moment you do soldering. If you do the soldering fine, you can fit all 4 cables in the sleeve, without cutting it in two pieces etc.
  21. What tire size you have? I have theory everything for lupo is meant for 22 inch tires.
  22. You clearly need at least new shocks.
  23. ALD ANV AUC AUD parts might fit for each other.
  24. emission test is only possible with proper equipment and it will show if you have any unburn fuel in your emissions. compression test will show if your engine is in good condition or not, you can do compression test yourself if you borrow or buy compression tester. In same time you will be able to check spark plugs. Secondly, I think you might have a lot of misfires, because EPC never shows up for no reason. Try to open your hood in the night or dark space, you will probably notice misfires. Misfires could be the reason for excessive fuel consumption as well. If thats it, you will at least need to replace spark plugs and wires, I recommend to check and clean cranckcase breather as well.
