  1. Although i don't do many miles per year, they are a mix of motorway and town so have decided to use 5w40 as i change the oil every year.  My choice now is VW's Quantum Platinum or Shell Helix HX8.  The Shell is on sale for £18 for 5 litres at Eurocarparts just now so both are roughly the same price

  2. Hi everyone

I am servicing my 2007 Fox 1.4 BKR engine. The handbook only recommends 502 00 oil. Nothing more specific.

Some websites specify 5w30 and some 5w40. Does anyone have any idea which is the correct one to use?

I would typically use 5w30 but am questioning why so many suggest 5w40.

The car has 72k and will only do about 5000 miles a year.

  3. I have just bought a Fox and the only issue with it is the stereo isn't working.  It will not turn on at all.  It's the RCD200.  Checked another forum for a fuse box diagram and have checked the relevant fuses, SC2 and SC5, but they are fine.  Anyone experienced this before?  or have any ideas what could be wrong?  Or even what i could be doing wrong!

  4. Hi.  I'm now the proud owner of an indigo blue Urban Fox.  I've bought it for my daughter to learn to drive in.  It's a 2007 with 74k on the clock and a full VW service history.  Got it home yesterday and apart from the stereo not working, which i knew about, i spent a few hours going over everything and can't fault it.  Fingers crossed.  This little car has surprise me.  When she told me she wanted a Fox i wasn't so sure after reading the reviews all over the internet, but the little Fox has changed my mind.

I'll post in the Fox section soon but in the hope that someone sees this first, i'll mention my stereo issue.  It's the RCD200.  It will not turn on at all.  Checked another forum for a fuse box diagram and have checked the relevant fuses, SC2 and SC5, but they are fine.  Anyone experienced this before?  or have any ideas what could be wrong?
