  1. ah, ok, How would i be able to correct the mileage? Is it stored in the clocks or the ECU?
  2. Are Lupo speedo/rev counter units plug and play? The display looks a bit faded on mine and I would like to change them. I have seen some advertised and wondered if they are plug and play or if the immo has anything to do with the clocks. I know the mileage may be wrong but guess I can always get that corrected
  3. Finally got the Lupo running again 😁. I bought an identical part numbered ECU off Ebay, plugged it in and all the correct dashboard lights came on and the fuel pump primed, it would not start of course, due to the IMMO, I then sent both ECU's away to a guy on Ebay and had the EEPROM swapped over to the new ECU. After turning over for a while she fired up and runs sweet, I will change the temperature transmitter now as sometimes the temp gauge would not work and i think it was affecting warm starting sometimes. Happy Days!
  4. Has the carpet been replaced? The carpet on mine has a piece of stiff board or wood about 12mm thick sandwiched between the top carpet and the bottom black fleecy type material so will never be able to cave in
  5. Hi, SO as per the title. In a bid to get my faithful Lupo 1.4 16v to start. If I buy and fit another ECU with the exact same part number but with IMMO OFF, will it be plug and play or will it still need coding to my car? I've seen a few on Ebay which could be a gamble and was going to send it away for IMMO OFF
  6. So, the saga of my non starting Lupo 1.4 16v continues. Changed the relays 53 and 100 - No joy. Fuel pump doesnt prime but works if i put 12v directly to it. OBD will not connect to ECU. All fuses tested ok. Red alarm light on door does not light up any more when the car is locked. When i turn the ignition on, i am sure that i am getting less ignition lights on than i used to but cant say for certain. Can anybody tell me exactly which lights you get on when you turn the ignition on? Oil, Battery etc etc
  7. As with any 'instant gasket', cleanliness is critical and follow the instructions carefully
  8. Have it wrapped! Fraction of the cost of a respray
  9. Thank you, much appreciated. I certainly seems a power supply issue due to the no OBD connection, lack of warning lights on ignition etc. Hopefully the Lupo will live on. I will start a thread as i continue in the hope it can help somebody else.
  10. Thanks for the replies. There is no spark when it is turning over and no smell of fuel either, I cant hear the fuel pump prime the system up either anymore. Will give the ignition switch a try I have checked all the fuses which test ok but have yet to test that they actually have power going to them, trying to check the relays but they seem to be a nightmare to get to, i have dropped the bolts out of the fuse board but am struggling to move it out of the way enough to get my hands in
  11. So, The good trusty Lupo 1.4 cut out over the weekend while I was driving it and will not start at all now. When i put the ignition on i get no EML light or abs lights and i cant for the life of me remember if it was always like that. Hopefully someone will tell me? Anyway, I have not found any blown fuses and cannot connect to the ECU via the OBD so im guessing it could be immobiliser related. Can anybody tell me if i can change the small black immobiliser box without have to get it coded to the key chip or is it plug and play to test it? Any comments or advice are welcome I have heard talk of an ECU immobiliser off mod?
  12. I would but my Wife absolutely loves driving it! So many comments aboyut the colour too - she's only been to Tesco's a few times in it so far but has always had somebody want to talk to her about it! Why oh why did VW stop making this great little car???
  13. Hi All, Its a late 2002 1.4 S model with auto gearbox and I paid £1700 for it on ebay from a guy near to Leeds. It was his late mothers car. I Gave it a good AutoGlym polish and wax at the weekend and it looks absolutely stunning now. I cant find any marks or scuffs anywhere inside or out. The only damage seems to be the aerial rubber seal that's split
  14. Greetings! I have just bought my wife a really tidy little Lupo in Fantasia green, 2002 with an unbelievable 7,800 miles from new. Absolutely immaculate condition with full vw history. Apparently the lady owner bought 2 brand new, an auto and a manual and very rarely used it. Still had it serviced every year though. I am amazed at the build quality for a little car and compares to my Audi A4 quattro! I have posted a question about the cigarette lighter but just wanted to say HI to everyone here
  15. Hi all, new owner of a gorgeous little fantasia green lupo and i will put a post in the new member area soon but i have a question - Is there a quick fix to the permanently live cigarette lighter socket? I have a dash cam but its a pain to keep unplugging / plugging it in for every journey.
