  1. Oh look, I'm talking to myself on the other ball joint thread. See my answer on that one for more info. Got mine on Ebay but messaged first to make sure I was getting exactly what was listed.
  2. I'm pretty sure I ordered 'RTS' ball joints for my GTI 5 years ago. Part numbers 93-90973-156 and 93-90973-256 They were the correct length. Autodoc are no good for this because you will order RTS but they have a habit of just swapping out for a different brand with the same part number. These joints are often incorrectly listed and its basically a lottery as to whether you end up with GTI or non GTI version. Good luck.
  3. GTI has a wider track, so ball joints are longer. Took me ages to find ones that were definitely GTI when I needed them. There were plenty listed as being for all variants. Most people selling online have no idea there are 2 variants and were clueless when asked.
  4. My lupo GTI has been very good to me but I recently had a N/S front ABS fault, which came up as faulty sensor. Sensor was replaced, code cleared and all apparently working fine. Today I took it in for MOT then got a call from garage saying that, when front wheel is on rolling road, the N/S front brake is engaging slowly until locked and ABS can be heard. Even with feet flat on the floor! Other observations noted were: - doesn't happen on open road, when all 4 wheels are turning - doesn't happen on rolling road if ignition is off - N/S pads worn at about twice rate of O/S - no fault codes - not had any noticeable braking difference, pulling to one side under braking etc - no random ABS engagement in day to day use - ABS has been functioning as it should on the road before and and after ABS sensor fault - I have occasionally smelt hot brakes but figured it was just my driving... guess it could have been the the N/S front though Figured it could be the new sensor was faulty but that should throw up a code. Currently thinking maybe ABS module but no idea really. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  5. You may be able to source spare parts from KW automotive in Rochester. They are very helpful. Not sure if you can get individual smaller parts but I got a single AP damper through them. They are listed as the contact point for KW too.
  6. There's a tdi being broken up on ebay. Worth trying some of the lupo / arosa Facebook groups for a spare ecu too
  7. Sounds like it's gone to a good home, and I'm sure you'll get your money's worth out of it.
  8. There was a 38k tdi on ebay. Bought for peanuts and sold for a tidy sum.
  9. Pm'd you but also just remembered this. They're available just no shipping to US. Like someone else said, probably best find someone to import for you. I used to get honda parts from Japan via someone who specialised in buying and shipping whatever was needed, would even bid on auction sites for you.
  10. To cover all possibilities, including replacing or swapping over ball joints and different sized ball joint nuts each side 13, 16, 17 & 18mm. Will help if you have open ended or ratchet 16 and 17. Thanks me.
  11. Can anyone tell me what spanner / socket sizes I'll need to replace GTI suspension arms please? From start to finish, not just the bolts that hold the arms in place. Got to get the job done this weekend but think I'm a couple of spanners short....
  12. If cills are still available, a grinder won't be necessary. Rich check your mail.
  13. Yep, a black GTI. Not sure what's left other than what was mentioned above. Steering wheel has airbag and looks in reasonable condition.
  14. @mk2 found a few 'endschalldämpfers' on German ebay but they looked ropey as hell for the price unfortunately 😕 FYI there's someone on faceache breaking a black lupo in Sidcup - they have doors £30 each and a steering wheel for £50. PM me and I can link you if interested.
  15. Thanks for the lead, I've no intention of getting rid of my lupo. Unfortunately there's no gti exhaust on their website. According to VW my only options at the moment are used or aftermarket. They used the dreaded 'o' word. My rear silencer has a bracket snapped off and holes developing on the body around the area where it curves out toward / under the pressure valve. Not sure how repairable that is really.
  16. That is on my to do list as MOT soon but not convinced it'll hold it that long. Think it's suffered from a couple of years of too many short journeys.
  17. Anyone know if it has an oem exhaust that doesn't have holes in it?
  18. I've had similar symptoms to this on a Honda before. Would cut out occasionally on turning left. It turned out to be a loose wire shorting out as it touched the engine bay. Can't remember which wire though, probably something attached to the battery.
  19. Think maybe it's the way of the Internet. It's linked to the 'buy cheap buy twice' mantra. My local ECP are pretty helpful if you go into their actual physical store. Not sure that's going to help the OP though.
  20. I don't disbelieve you Rich, half of me wanted to find out if it's even possible to confirm for sure what you will end up with when ordering from somewhere like Autodoc. I think the answer to that is no. Interestingly they told me to not look at the images of the parts because they are just shapes!
  21. I need some ball joints for my GTI, don't waste your time with Autodoc. I just used their online chat to ask if I will get the RTS ball joints if I ordered them, rather than a substitute. They kept avoiding answering my simple question and asking for my VIN no so they could send me something else. It took at least 45 minutes and 2 operators to get exactly nowhere.
  22. The GTI is the same with that long alternator bolt and no room to remove. If I remember correctly I just had to slacken the engine mount a little bit and managed to work it out. Not sure if that's possible on the SDI though.
