Do you know if the engine code has to be the same as well? As I’ve found pleanty out there for a 1.4 lupo 16v but it has a different code?

Hi all. my gearbox on my 2003 lupo 1.6 16v is knackered. The garage next to my work had a look as told me this, he suggested I buy a second hand gearbox and roger install it myself or have it installed. looking around on eBay using my engine code ‘BBY’ some have come up as a 5 speed manual gear box but it’s for a 1.4 polo. My question is can you use polo gearboxes in a lupo? Are they the same set up? Thanks

Hi, was going through images of lupos to get ideas of what to do for mine and I saw one with square indicators and I like the look but can’t find anything about them? Anyone know anything? Theres an image bellow is the one I’ve seen.
