  1. Hey dude - do you still have your 6 speed Gearbox?

    Cheers

  2. Make: Silver Lupo Gti 1.6 (6 Sped Manual Gearbox) MOT: January 2018 Engine: 1.6Gti Location: Peterborough/Cambridgeshire Price: 1600 ovno So I am testing the waters for selling my Lupo Gti (6 Speed) with an honest all I know ad. I originally bought this not knowing much about the Lupo’s (Other than I wanted one) It was to be used as a second car that I could spend a bit of time working on and have some fun with, I paid 1800 for it in (I believe) May last year. I recently inherited a bit of money and have since bought a classic beetle that I tend to spend some money on which is why I am debating selling the Lupo. Below I will list the usual Good and Bad: Bad Points: Needs a new starter motor (makes classic noise sometimes on start) I can have this fixed if I do sell Door straps aren’t great, Could do with replacing as doors do not stay open. Bit of rust where one of the previous owner rolled the arches, this is just on the actual rolled bit so isn’t that bad There was previously a bit of a Gearbox Leak and is a bit stiff going into 2nd Gear – I had my mechanic seal the leak which seems to of sorted this and with some new Gearbox oil 2nd gear is a lot better, I drive the car back and forth to work sometimes and its causes me no drama. There are bits of rust around the car in the usual Lupo places bottom of the doors etc. – nothing major though I reversed off my drive and scraped a little bit of the rear arch on my friends van – its scraped and dented the side a little bit but this is fresh so there is no rust and it’s not really bad. I’ve probably made it sound a lot worse than what it actually is, but one thing I hate Is buying a car and then having horrible surprises so I would rather be honest as I do believe in Karma. Good Points: Just had a new MOT (15/01/2017) Had a full service (15/01/2017) Cambelt and HT Leads replaced 4 Good Tyres A book with LOTS of receipts and history (Even managed to find a couple of the old owners on Facebook who had great things to say about the car) New front brake discs and pads New wiper blades Completely Standard (Expect the wheels have been sprayed black at some point) Interior is all in great condition for the age No excessive smoke or smells from exhaust Pulls in every gear and drives well (really is faster than I expected) I managed to get the rear spoiler brake to work J The car has done 157k this worried me at first and I did initially want to change it but after I had a mechanic look around he advised me that the engine seems fine and he thinks it would be a waste to change now as it runs ok, the engine bay all looks clean and no sign of leakage. I am open to offers but please nothing silly, I understand it’s not in show condition but you have to really see it in person it’s not a dog by any means but just needs a bit of TLC. If I can’t get a decent enough sale I will just keep it and tidy it up myself over time. I have been looking on eBay for a while and I yet to see many sell for less than £3000 especially for a 6 speed. I am currently at work below is the only picture I have on my phone – but I will certainly post some more so you get a better picture. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

  4. Cheers Rich.. I was going to try and reattach the plug bit to the red and brown wire in the picture, but on the actual plug you can't access the bit to rewire it... Know that probably makes no sense the way I described it haha
  5. Hi Guys, wondering if anyone can help, I changed the Alternator on the Lupo, which was a treat until I realised who ever had messed with it before had a lot of tape around the plug that goes into the alternator, as soon as I had moved it snapped and I now need the wire loom that plugs into the Alternator... has anyone got one for sale? This is for my 6 speed Gti (don't know if it's any different to the 5 speed) Thanks in advance.
  6. Awesome... Thanks for the advice, well, there is the gearbox leak that I have posted about.. That might not be a massive issue to fix, but the engine has done 155k, in all fairness, it seems to run ok (as far as my un mechanical mind knows) deffo needs a new cambelt, but in general I can' see any leaks from that, but this is a car I plan to restore and keep for as long as possible, so was wondering if it would of been easier to buy a lower millage Polo GTi engine with gearbox, as it seems to be very difficult to find a Lupo one... Paint work and all that I'm fine with.. Engine stuff I'm lol
  7. Lol I know you probably think just do your research haha no only reason I'm asking, is to try and find out quickly, as I have seen one that I may be able to pick up today, I have tried to search, but I'm finding conflicting answers... I just basically need to know if it's straight forward for a mechanic to swap, the one I read on here, I think it was tittled... "Differences between lupo gti and polo gti engine and gearbox" as you can probably tell I'm not that clued up on mechanics I'm trying to learn bits as I go.. But your few words to sum up if I can swap the engine and gearbox straight out would genuinely be Aprciaited. Thanks.
  8. Hi Guys, Apologies as I know this has probabably already been answered a million times.. But can anyone tell me if a polo GTi engine with Gearbox will fit directly into my Lupo GTi no hassle? Is it the same engine, If this has already been covered would you guys mind pointing me in he write direction? Thanks in advance.
  9. Awesome advice, thanks guys... So I got back today and had a look from the top of the engine, all looks good from top, it seams that it is leaking from the area in the attached.
  10. Awesome, Very helpful guys, will try get someone to look at it this weekend, any ideas of best places to get the kits? eBay? cheers
  11. Thanks for the reply bud, I haven't got any more yet, I cleaned up the area as best I could yesterday, will check again this evening, to see where exactly its coming from. Replacing the gear box looks like it might be a pain as I have had a look around and cant see any 6 speeds for sale anywhere .
  12. Does anyone know what this oil leak could be? I thought it was coming from the nut but looks quite wet at the back of the picture too, its not leaking a major amount, but I need to try and diagnose what it is asap. Thanks in advance.
  13. Would like to get some work done on my GTI after a mechanic around the Peterborough area that would be up for doing some work on the side.
  14. Hi all, I'm after a Lupo GTI Engine + 6 speed gear box with Millage preferabley under 100k or there abouts. if anyone has one or has any ideas of where I can get one, would be much Apriciated, Thanks ?
  15. Thanks, Yep... that was more than likely the one. Going to run it back and forth to work this week to see how it goes.
  16. Hi all, Just a quick hello... Bought my first VW today (2002 Lupo Gti) bit of a project/run around car for me, in pretty good condition considering the price I paid... Lot of miles on the clock (155k) but has a lot of history and seems to run well... Touch wood... Although I don't know much about these engines and how well they will keep at this mileage. Looking forward to learning some bits on here. Speak soon!
