Brief update, and I've started a blog Keeps things all in one place and tidy. Crazy Lupo Blog -
Forgot to mention I also have a 1.7 SDI Engine, geabox, loom ECU etc. but I have yet to take it out of the car. Same rules as above.

Hi All I'm breaking a Lupo to turn into a track day car, so everything I won't need is up for sale! At present I've started on the interior and have the following bits up for sale I also have the dashboard and the rest of the interior - can get pics if anyone is interested; and all of the seats. The cloth is a bit grubby, but all in good working order. If anyone is interested please PM me or email omara04@yahoo.com and we'll come up with a mutually agreeable price Thanks, Steve

Hi Guys Not posted for a while, had a manic couple of months with one thing or another and every other car project jumping up the list bar my poor lupo project! I'm embarking on a 1.8 20VT conversion, into a stripped out track day machine. Haven't got that far with it yet unfortunately... current progress is this: Now I'm getting through some of the other car projects and getting them out the shop I can create room for my donor vehicle. Question is, which one to go for? Is there a guide to all the engine types and their applications (BAM, AJQ etc.Wikipedia is OK, but it would be good to know from a tuning perspective which is the best to buy) and then perhaps more crucially, which is the best donor vehicle (Seat Cupra? Golf GTI? Passat? etc) Plan is to buy something in any condition from eBay at around £500, whip the engine out and rebuild it with uprated parts. Any advice appreciated! Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out - had a good flick through the google image search for "VW / Lupo / Polo / Golf Rally cars" and got some good ideas there. -

Thanks! Look forward to contributing and hopefully learning from you guys. I'm tempted by the rally car / touring car look - stripped out, cage, and some decals? Open to suggestions and looking for ideas at the moment! I'm fortunate enough for it not to require any sort of "sensible" vibe whatsoever; I've got a few daily drivers for all that boring stuff like commuting and going to the shops. So could be as lairy as anything! I'm planning to take it back to the bare shell and I've got a paint spray gun - just need the inspiration now. How about a fluorescent yellow, blue or green base? With decals? -
I'm just about to embark on the same journey so I'm watching the responses with interest!

Hi guys I've decided to embark on a Lupo 1.8 20V T conversion! First step - buy the donor vehicle Picked up this from a chap in cornwall - 1999 lupo 1.7 not-very-aspirated diesel with 160k miles. Interior is tatty and the clutch is all but gone, but the shell is good and strong which is all I'll need at this point. Going to be a fairly long project, reckon it will be 6-12 months due to work commitments and cashflow, but what are car projects for if not to keep you interested for a long time First job, strip down to the bare shell and check for corrosion and re-spray. That and try and find a mk1 leon cupra (or other 20VT) to break! Can anyone offer any advice on choice of 20VT? Does it make a difference? What's the best gearbox to use? Thanks in advance, Steve

Hi Guys My name is Steve and I've decided to embark on a lupo 1.8 20V Turbo project! I love car projects and have done a few over the years ranging from Land Rover mud pluggers to my latest one - a 700kg kit car with a BMW 328 lump: I now want something light, small, rapid and weatherproof for use in Autotests, 12 cars rallies, and the occasional trackday. Settled on a lupo because it's a great platform for the awesome 20V Turbo engine; and partly because I read Grantmax's awesome build thread on this lively and friendly forum and it inspired me! So I went out today and bought the donor vehicle - a 1999 with a not-very-aspirated 1.7 diesel I'll probably have a load of newb questions, so appreciate your help in advance! Look forward to this project. Cheers, Steve
