  1. Oh, why? Ripe for a 1.8T I would think. If they are slammed and have been chassis notched then I would agree though.
  2. Right, lost one, will pinch one off the wrecked TDI tomorrow, but want to buy a set anyways. I fitted the brakes as wasnt expecting to have too measure them. Ebay seems to think they should be 8.5mm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-LUPO-1998-2005-2x-FRONT-BRAKE-CALIPER-SLIDER-PINS-GUIDE-KITS-BCF1302UX2/231668931333 and here seems to say thay are 8mm. I couldnt find my 8.5mm drill bit to test it but vernier calipers said 8.5mm was no go in my 280mm carriers. I assume (always a dangerous thing that) 256mm carriers are the same. 60 x 8mm according to that thread.
  3. Something affecting air flow, so if no maf then egr stuck, throttle body dirty / clogged or poss lambda stuff depending on how it calculates air flow. 1503 clean all the alternator contacts and look for poor contact on the big earth cables.
  4. I got lots of 2008 Ibiza TDI bits inc failed engine a few years back for £100. Thought I'd try the gearbox as then if the ratios are annoying at least I will have tested it if I want to sell it on. Edit: Ok by "that" you meant the chart not the gearbox, just google the gearbox type and code and pretty much always the online manual will come up with the charts. https://workshop-manuals.com/seat/leon-mk1/02r_5-speed/technical_data/gearbox_identification/code_letters_assembly_allocation_ratios_capacities/
  5. its shorter ratios than EXB. I was going to stick JDD in but my driving is mostly B road so figured I'd try the JCZ instead and see. Roughly around 7% final drive, but bigger tyres should bring that to around 5%.
  6. Engine in and running, went with JCZ gearbox for now because i wanted to test it. Suspension mostly on, should be drive-able on the weekend. Aiming for MOT next week weather permitting and no major snags.
  7. I'd go straight pipe to the rear silencer.
  8. I think this is the one: 085 301 115 A
  9. The holes on the top are the inspection hole it should have a bung in it but not vital, you are looking at the flywheel ring gear.
  10. Fronts - loose strut to knuckle bolts that adjust the camber. (undo, pull top of wheel out and tighten). Could be wrong parts fitted like ball joint or arm. Rears - Corrosion or damaged trailing arm / stub axle.
  11. Rim is ****ed as is the good tyre on it. Used tin snips on top corner of the wing and left the two tabs there still bolted up. Those rims are very light compared to the Seat wheels too.
  12. Cant open the door, the bottom hinge has moved. Undone hinge still wont open. Tried this today, no joy it just dragged the car along with the wheel chocks, will need cutting to weaken it. I just want the door to open and close to make things a bit easier. I'll probably give it another go on a chain and reverse the car to give it a few sharp jolts instead of gradual on the winch.
  13. Wrecked one is black, this one is red.
  14. ALH still seems like the best engine ever. PD have weaker valve train too because of the thinner lobes and extra stresses. Emissions maybe? Tighter fuel control?
  15. This is just going to be slapped together and MOT'd. I will try and show it some love after that.
  16. Just one hole in the subframe, welded that up today which turned into a bit of a task but got there in the end. As it hadnt been used for a long time the welder was displaying error codes and was stuck on stick welder function and switching it off and on didnt clear it. Eventually found in the manual how to reset it to factory settings which I did and was then able to get into the menus and actually do anything with it, but a bit of a panic there. Went with gasless wire (mistake) because I couldnt find my CO2 regulator and used some 1.2mm galvanised stuff instead of the thin 0.8mm Lupo wing I was initially going to use for the patch. Covered it in black goop to hide the bird poo. Skoda man is being interviewed under caution tomorrow. Police have my footage, and will also be getting the stationary black subarus footage and also the footage from the lead car of the two he cut in front of ahead of me. He said my footage alone is enough for dangerous driving. It will be handed off to traffic division to deal with it and then CPS if it gets that far.
  17. KAM racing manifold and exhaust system and a good remap (no mention of remap) maybe it might get somewhere near there, but it sounds optimistic or a generous dyno or else just a wild guess. Or, it could just be a typo. The rear camber is shameful though...
  18. H'mm hope it isnt nearly as bad as that, but didnt poke it to find out. I have a co2 extinguisher i forgot about so dont need gas. Police are here tomorrow for my statement, they will be looking to charge him with dangerous driving among other things.
  19. I'm on it. Supposedly better weather all next week so will see if i can get most of it done then. Dragged it out today, has a rust hole in front subframe that will need welding so I'll see if i can get gas sorted out. I'll stick the original engine back in with a new clutch and JDD box instead of doing double duty moving everything across from my wrecked one.
  20. Not sure yet, I'll see if i can pull / push the damage out and get the door opening and shutting again mainly just to see if I can. Track day car? Does the shell actually have to be crushed? I doubt it, I'll send the docs in though as I think i have to.
  21. Someone on reddit said the car has done 120k in 3 years, I dont know as i havent checked to confirm, but if so, I think he drives like this most of the time would be my guess. I am on to the tigra insurance for the £350 excess, if no joy then the free motor legal solicitors will pursue it for me.
  22. Nothing definite yet, I dont need a car for work so there isnt a huge rush. The red TDI was the main idea originally, but a Golf TDI 4motion has reappeared, shame about the VED band on it but i do fancy one.
  23. Correct, I misremembered on reddit when I said he was blaming the overtaker, he actually just couldnt understand why the black car stopped in the road and was blaming him, i told him why he'd had to stop to avoid the head on. So yes he wasnt paying attention or was too close. It could have been much worse, I saw him stick his nose round and was about to make the corrections when he changed his mind and dived for the verge. Time was running at half speed in those last few seconds, all i know is try not to make it worse by taking desperate measures to avoid a minor shunt especially if that puts you at fault. Distances and perspective in the footage are nothing like what i was seeing. i go quiet in the footage when i am on extreme concentration and threat assessment, it took a while to realise the black car was actually completely stationary, the car up the bank appeared over the subarus bonnet from my perspective likely as I had been looking at the brake lights of the two cars ahead of me and my distance to them which had closed, they got off their brakes and resumed their journey, I was distracted by the car going up the bank and then the Tigra appeared as well. As said already, that was fine, but changing his mind was not. Ever had a dream where you cant run when pursued by things or people? It was like that.
  24. Dog is fine, the seats were down in the back like a van and he was on a tether and harness to stop him entering the front of the car in a sudden braking or crash, he hit the back of the folded seats which flop about and is mostly foam with heavy wire supports. He indicated some stiffness in right shoulder the next day when getting up from a nap but that was after normal idiocy and running about, normal since then. I'm with Aviva. I have always viewed insurance a necessary evil who will do everything in their powers to avoid paying out, so i always go no frills. Protected no claims sounds great but you are paying the same as the difference every year to have it instead of just taking it on the chin after a claim. Legal protection there are free alternatives available (i just signed up to one thanks to @mk2 I should get the £350 excess back but not sure off who. I am an insurance claims noob having never had a crash (involving more than just me) or made a claim before.
