  1. Hi, Having spent about 30 mins trying to take one bolt out of my lupo's front wheel, looks like the threads on it are completely mangled as well as on the hub itself... Seems to me the goons at the tyre place must have rammed the bolts in after the last tyre change... 1) Do I need to replace the whole hub, or just a part of it 2) How difficult a job is it to do? Cheers much
  2. @bossjohnc - where did you get the info on the Sale of Goods act? I need some evidence for my argument for when I call VW up tomorrow.
  3. Apparantley there is a lot of difference in two months - The woman's words "VW has a policy that under no circumstances will VW offer any Goodwill for vehicle over 5 years old" Oh well. I take it the rear 1/4 panel needs to be cut out, not unbolted??
  4. Phoned Customer care who said take it to dealer. Dealer took a couple of pics and said they couldn't do anything as car was out of warranty (fair enough). Suggested that I give CC a call again. Was told that given the age of the car, VW could not help at all. The car is 5years and 2months old. VW will only give goodwill to cars less than 5 years. I asked what they would do if this happened 2 months earlier - "Chances are we would have helped!" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="evil.gif" /> Bloody crap customer service - even the dealer was surprised. Moral of this story: Test your jack thoroughly on something other than your lupo first and NEVER ask VW for anything. They are SH*T! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="evil.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="evil.gif" />

  6. Thought y'all might be interested in this as I didn't think that there were many GTI specific grilles on the market: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7906189057&rd=1 style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  7. Heard that Redex is quite good. Just pour it into the petrol tank, and it'll do its job while the engine runs. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  8. I unhooked the vinyl gearstick surround from the bottom and lifted it above the gearknob to expose the base of it. On my one, the base was blue with a metal collar holding it place. Use a screwdriver or pliers to expand the collar, and the old gearknob should just come straight off, but will be attached to the vinyl surround thing. I replaced the gearknob with a Momo one, which was not at all specific to VW. All I had to do was put the correct size rubber cap (supplied) onto the gear stick and then tighten the new Momo knob accordingly. I would post some pictures, but not sure how to do it. :? Hope this helps anywho. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  9. I have Weeman. What seems to be the problem?

    Lexus lights

They are legal, but only after you have stuck the reflectors onto the rear bumper. I've got these - Love 'em! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

    what are 3D lights? :?
  13. Check that the breather hose is ok. Had the same prob a few months back and found that the pipe had a big hole in it about 3/4's of the way down.
  14. Any ideas who makes the top one? Or do ya reckon it's a custom jobee? These pics are from a Jap site which I can't read. :? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  15. How about either of these? border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  16. Have done. I've got the JE front spoiler, so it should look ok. May be a daft question, but with sideskirts, does that make lifting the car even more difficult?
  17. My other choice though is to get the JE sideskirts that are quite tall at the back. They would be high enough to cover the dents. What's the general opinion on these?
  18. Yup, it was the proper jacking point. VW said that as the car is not under warranty, neither is the jack. The jack didn't slip, it just broke!! I managed to push out most of the dent from inside, but there are 2 really deep dents at the bottom of the panel where the threaded parts of the jack dug in. There's no way these can be removed, even by a pro. Any ideas? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  19. How difficult is it to change the panel that is behind the driver's side door - is it welded or just screwed on? :? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Had a major issue at the weekend while changing rear wheel - used standard lupo jack to lift up the loop, but it failed spectaculary as I had my back turned. The car fell and the jack dug into the panel. :x As the car is lowered also, had to get my mates to lift the car up as the trolley jack was too tall!!
  20. Just been trawling through some Japanese Lupo pages and found this heap o'... Whoever did this needs to be shot! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  21. I had a similar problem a few months back. On closer inspection I found smell was coming from the breather pipe that had melted and there was yellow goop pouring over the back of the engine. It was actually causing the engine to stall when slowing down for roundabouts etc. Anyone else had this problem?
