Nice one. Keep us posted with your progress.

Is it a keeper or are you going to move it on once you have completed the work.

All UP! models to be discontinued over next 6 months.
Grumpy replied to mk2's topic in Volkswagen Up!
On my second UP GTI, 14 months ownership in total with 5K miles covered and no issues whatsoever. The Up GTI is what it is. My wife has just taken delivery of a brand new Polo GTI and at £30K, I am not sure its 50% better than a 20K Up GTI. Each to their own of course. -

Remaining Up models are only available from dealer stock. Recently changed my 3 door Tornado red Up GTI for a 3 door Pure White one which is higher spec and a little newer. For me there is nothing not to like about them and they are an end of an era. -
Try living with one for a while and you might.

I take it you aren't a fan lol. I have to say I am quite taken by my Up GTI. Things move on of course but I find it much more enjoyable to drive than my Lupo GTI's.
-
Your comparison of an Up to "various Lupo's and Arosa's" is based on driving just one Up?
-
Yep that's my understanding there are only 5 Laser Blue GTI'S. I know of 2 members on here who are long term owners and I have seen a third one pop up for a short while until the member moved it on as his daily commute had increased significantly.
-
Thanks for the offer but having had three GTI's the next one has to be Laser so it could be a long wait. Its not so much the performance of the GTI that attracts me, it's the old school VW treatment to produce it. I believe the only body panel a GTI shares with any other Lupo is the tailgate. Add in the other things such as the changes to the body shell and the aluminium bonnet and doors and I think you have one special car.

Each to their own.

Good luck trying to find a laser blue GTI. I think you will be trodden on in the rush by quite a number of members on here.

Good luck with your rebuild. Keep us posted on your progress 👍

Decided to move to 205's all round. Fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6's and delighted with them. Great handling, improved stance and excellent rim protection.

Unintentional Pioneer? difficultys returning to standard
Grumpy replied to lupo1.0se's topic in Volkswagen Lupo
This is the exact reason after 3 Lupo GTI's, I decided to step away from them. Each time I replaced a GTI with another, parts were becoming more and more difficult to source. I still think they are a special car but I can't see me buying another. -
Great job and very impressed with what you have done.

Some pictures would no doubt help with your sale.

Absolute belter. Now stop teasing and put it up for sale

Welcome to ClubLupo, if it is only to sell your GTI.

New Member - Question about wheels on LUPO GTI
Grumpy replied to Shivas Regal's topic in New member?
Have to say I prefer the Bathursts on the Lupo GTI. -
That's a good alternative thanks. It's a difficult one as the Goodyears on my car have plenty of life in them as they are only 18 months old and have done 10K miles. I have just been away in it for a few days and did approximately 400 miles in some pretty awful weather and I didn't have any problems with the Goodyears. Not sure I want to chuck approximately £300-£400 at a new set of tyres yet.
-
Interesting comments regarding tyres thanks. I see Volkswizard recommend Goodyear Eagle F1's. I like the look of the 17" wheels so will probably stick with those.
-
Whilst it's early days I would say on balance very much yes. I find it more fun to drive and much less of a headache worrying what's going to go wrong next with a Lupo and where I am going to source the parts.
-
Finally got round to taking a couple of photos. Had the car about 6 weeks and absolutely love it.

Early start this morning. Three trains later and I picked the car up from the dealership around midday. Paperwork etc completed and just back home after 130 miles on a mixture of fast A roads and motorways. Really comfortable to drive and incredibly economical. Managed to achieve a combined 58mpg on the journey home and I wasn't hanging around although I was obeying the speed limits. Need to give it a good clean and will then get some pictures up. 😍
