    A/C Fails

    Yeah, what was the problem...?
  2. I wonder what that is? Something that can take 800c red hot, and not get destroyed. Bit of exhaust gasket perhaps. Interesting.
  3. It's way easier to do up a car to like new condition, keeping it original than modding it. Waste of a decent car. Throwing away money. No resale value. That's all I'll say on the subject.
  4. Personally, I'd bung in an aftermarket RKE system. One of my SDIs has a dodgy driver's door lock module and the solution was to just not use the key to open and lock the car remotely. Exactly the same symptoms... There's a good gearbox refurb chap in your area. Someone on here will remember who he is. Other than door module, I'd do the EGR, cam belt, check filters, change gear oil, lube linkages, locks, hinges. SDIs are built to last a very long time. Any pics of your motor?
  5. Did you get your DNI already? Or otherwise you'll be treated as a tourist... i thought they set the date about two tears ago for non residents.
  6. 35 profile tyres (or less) = rubber bands
  7. Yeah that's the microswitch. When the key moves to the 'lock car' position, only the mechanical lock is working, but it's not being picked up by the convenience centre unit- the CCU is not getting the lock activation signal from the lock (switch) when you turn the key. If you fitted an aftermarket RKE system, you can bypass the lock switches. But like @Skezza says, it is possible that the 'locked' switch is faulty (different switch), in which case the CCU thinks that even though it provided a lock motor pulse to power the locking motor to lock the doors, it isn't getting confirmation that the motor worked. So it then unlocks the door again... It is a common fault. And a right pain to fix. Time consuming.
  8. Fitted with rubber bands just.
  9. Nice. So jealous. 👍🏻 I knew this was possible. There's so much space around the back of the lump. Those are awfully long compressed air ducts. You could dump the inlet manifold as you don't need tuned rams to help reduce the volume. Or maybe ???? completely dump the intercooler. It might be laggy. That's a fair volume that needs to be pressurised. But experimentation is key here. Keep us up to date with your progress. Great work! clutch... Personally I'd keep it stock. You want it to give up before the transmission which will give you a reasonable safety margin. There'll be a huge amount of torque. A lot. Loads. When you map it, I'd tune for power instead of torque. The biggest weakpoints are (you already know) the gearbox bearings and the CV joints. Especially LHS outer. The mk1 diesel clutch driven plate will fit, but you need to grind off a little material on the flywheel side, on the splined centre. I don't think there's a pressure plate out there with a stronger spring, with the same flywheel fitment. Might be able to swap to a 1.9 flywheel and bigger clutch -but- I dunno if that'll fit the 085 box. oh, delete the breather fumes sucking into the turbine. Just my personal hate.....
  10. Raise a case with dvsa and get your money back
  11. Could be a rust hole in one of the roof channels. Known problem where the spray booth missed the outside edges.... lift out from the back without bending them to inspect.
  12. First for me... I've seen them completely ripped out but never split like that. Interesting.
  13. Classic door locking switches problem. Every vdub, all models suffer from those problems, 97-2009 approx. Use your remote central locking instead. oh, and welcome to club lupo show us some pics of your SDI...
  14. That sill weld needs straightening out urgently...
  15. Hey hey! Welcome to club lupo Do the doors just feel loose or worn hinges? If it looks like the hinge pin is rattling in the hole, it could just be that the pin anchor bolt has become loose. There's a tiny little black plastic cap on the side of the hinge pin, that covers a 6mm head bolt, which clamps the pin tight. Might be that? If it is, turn the hinge pin to a new position (to even out the wear) put a drop of thread lock on the thread and tighten it up again. Then put the cap back on. Sorted. Then you'll be able to see if the door check straps need replacing or just a good lube... oh, don't forget to lube the himges regularly!

    Lupo Sport

Is for mk2 golfs... nitro yellow green otherwise known as fantasia green is my fav for lupos. Very different amongst an ocean of grey, silver, black, dark metallic blue and burgundy out there.
  17. Yeah, keep us up to date if anything changes. Sounds good though. Unusual for an upstream sensor to go. They're pretty tough. Just got me thinking... I'm not 100% sure, but I think the upstream and downstream O2 sensors are interchangable. Both are narrow band type. The difference is the cable length but both use the same connector types. If feeling enthusiastic, you could try swapping around things (and use the old sensor) to be 100% sure it was the sensor. Just make sure the downstream signal plugs into the downstream loom cable. Same for the upstream if they are they same connectors (rounded rectangular with 4 pins).
  18. That pic is of fronts I think. Better nick than mine. I might have 'em. How much for the pair? But... if you can wait till I've messed about with 45mm spacers for the new mk4 golf pair I have, to lift the strut bearing up a bit- I'll see if that is worth doing first. I like the idea of softer suspension but at the same ride height. Obviously not for handling... I took my rears to a sand blasting and powdercoating place lunch time today. Told them to call me once blasted so I can have a closer look for any deep pits before priming and coating. Will report back once done. Already chnaged the rear bump stops to the passat type which IMO are better and allow a little more suspension travel.

I'll buy it for that (if I could). Clean and polish it, drive it and sell next year for 3k. Hmmmm.
  20. Uh oh. Opened a can of worms here... lots you can do to a SDI to make it even better than it is already (no cynical comments please everyone).
