  1. Bargain. Bit of front subframe welding or swap, a pair of £4 bushes, clean up brake pipes, some tyres and a light bulb. Good to go. if it were local, it'd be mine already. Interior looks great.
  2. mk2

Always replace in pairs for consistent handling, as they wear out. You don't want one side softer than the other. part no. is 6N0413031K, but what looked familiar is... swap the 6N for a different platform, and you end up with the original part, which is from a mk2 Golf. Wow. The exact same. Now I wonder if there is a 1J0... (mk4 golf). The 'bit' of the part number that really matters is the end letter. Like the 'K' might be a completely different fitment to the 'J'.
  3. I think there's a mk2 golf gearbox with the same internals, for the old 1.2 or maybe 1.05 engines. And there are loads of LSDs for mk2s... Bear in mind that the 085 is based on the old VW Derby box (can't remember the code). The weakness though, will be in LHS CV joints. Just look at the angle the shaft runs.
  4. There's a metal plate on the side, next to the differential right where 34&35 are shown. I don't get why they don't show the cover plate, unless the image is a different transmission? To fill the trans fluid, you do it through the bottom hole, and fill up to the top of the little fill tube (21) and then allow it to run out when over filled. There's a procedure you have to follow... You may be able to read it somewehre. Same for most older vdub transmissions. I do it differently, and use the heat exchanger transfer pipe, and have the engine pump out the old fluid until it stops. Then fill, then do it again, stopping the engine the second the fluid goes clear again.
  5. Dirt? Maybe the catch (lock hasp) needs a good clean and lube...
  6. Not normal for autos... But this is an engine problem. We need more to go on TBH. Some diagnostics data would help a lot.
  7. It's probably never ever had a gearbox service... they need some love too. Both gearbox fluids probably need changing, along with both magnets needing a clean and a new main fluid filter.
  8. Coolant temp sensor?
  9. Believe it or not, the interior light system is also linked to the headlight switch and the ignition key switch. It is possible that the headlight switch or the ignition switch has a fault (both common age/wear related problems).
  10. Have you checked the oil level in the differential side? You have to remove the cover plate (and clean the magnet). VW Automatic gearboxes have two different oil systems. And different oils...
  11. Removing EGR on a petrol (gasoline) car has no effect. At high power, EGR is always disabled by the ECU. However, it will cause carbon buildup. So I guess removing it will help long term power gains.
  12. I think it might be the power bus, on top of the battery if you have changed everything. Check the battery fuse block. Does the low speed over-heating fan ever come on? Check power to the fan module (direct from battery). Or... maybe there is a broken wire in the engine area. With a meter, you may need to check from the pump plug all the way to the other end. It takes time.
  13. It depends which compressor system you have, as there are two types- one with a basic on-off solenoid clutch and the other is a PWM controlled lever type. Both types rely on the CCM (comfort control module) I think, but not sure. All the sensors must be working. On other VW models (golf/polo/passat/bora), it is often the power bus circuit inside the fuse box (on top of the battery) that has a loose connection. There is also the fan controller module which might affect the AC, depending on which system you have.
  14. Hang on a minute... what are you up to inside an 02M?
  15. Show me a pic and size. I'd guess any 10.3 strength bolts will do with a load of thread lock...?
  16. Most frequent handbrake fault is caused by the activation lever sticking in the shoe. Pull the shoe out and move the levers a lot until they loosen up. Then you can put a teeny tiny drop of spray grease on the hinge point. That usually fixes it And while you're there, check the self adjusting wedges are free to slide up and down. The front calipers are based on old Mk2 Golf types. And just about any similar shaped vdub pads fit. I use VW Vento pads (last a bit longer). I haven't done any research, but I'm pretty sure that many calipers should fit or at least a rebuild kit will be available, as there are/were so many similar types around with only the mounting bolts being slightly different.
  17. I'll bag the rack and box... Will be good for one of my many Lupos.
  18. I think the easiest way to do this is pull your diff, visit Quaife and ask them what they have that'll fit. Everything being CNC, they'll be able to knock up what you want, probably within a couple of hours. Or maybe might have something off the shelf they could adapt with some shims?
  19. (4h later) All over by now probably... So how was it? All the gory detail please.
  20. There are quite a few for sale (new old stock), that people are trying to clear. Bargains to be had me thinks! I might get a Lupo tow bar and bung it in the shed. I have way too many spares now...
  21. Yeah, I looked into doing this too... The gorgeous ali 3L steering wheel fits both Rosas and Lupo columns just fine, but you need the "clock spring" unit that goes with it. And obviously the airbag, which is completely different. The leather steering wheels also are a straight swap. The Arosa and Lupo steering wheels have different airbag release systems. The Arosa steering wheel has screws whereas the Lupo one is clipped. The airbags can't be swapped between wheels. 👍🏻
  22. Yes, but the box is max rated to about 80hp. And low torque. It was originally designed for the VW Derby... So why would anyone want a LSD on a low power car? You'll have to search, but I think you only will need to change the cage and core, while keeping the old crown wheel. If the diff flange bearings fit, and the output splines are the same, and the crown gear bolt holes line up, any LSD could work. Try for a golf or polo....?
  23. Use teeth or 'dental' floss (string). Then use a rubber wheel to remove the glue. 👍🏻
  24. I don't think that the wiring diagram is available on the internet. You may have to buy the workshop manual. I don't know anyone that has it.
