Good morning Rich, It lights up fine, although some of the digits are a bit faded as it were. I will try and get some photos of it powered up next Tuesday when my breather tank is being fitted. It does plug straight into the Lupo loom, however you would need to use/adapt the harness supplied to allow the car to function correctly- I plugged it straight into my GTi and discovered shortly after that it threw the alarm out and messed up the key coding....?? Brake fluid and coolant

So do I, particularly when the loom wiring to the actuator plug broke after I had put it all back together.... Martin.

I had this on mine when I first bought it, thought it was the actuator so changed it- wasn't that.... I used a pair of needle nosed pliers to carefully remove/loosen the screws. It turned out to be a slowly seizing lock barrel which eventually seized solid, if this is what's wrong with yours all is not lost, it will only be expensive if you get a new coded to the car lock/barrel/handle. @aj1soad Oops, perhaps I worded that incorrectly- what I was trying to say is, I was sorry that my reply to your topic question was not directly related to the actual question. The dealer number plate backings I refer to, are the bits of black plastic that are behind your number plates that have "Massingberd" written on them Hope that clears any confusion I may have caused. What part have VW quoted you £237 for? The reason I ask, I had a new driver's side regulator last July (genuine VW), part number 6E0 837 462B and it was £94-29 excluding VAT part only? I would hazard a guess that you have got a broken wire in the driver's door loom, based on what was wrong with mine- mine would operate the passenger window down from the driver's side but not back up again, and also the window would close halfway and then suddenly shoot back down- turns out the anti trap in the motor was knackered and it eventually seized, no pattern motors available so had to buy new/genuine. The driver's side window motor is part number 6X0 959 801B, and was £189-49 excluding VAT part only last July- OUCH.... Have you tried your local VW TPS for parts? Hope you get it sorted :O) Martin.

Do you mean the the headlight beam aim is aimed too high? I had the opposite issue this year at MOT because I had not had the beam aim adjusted after lowering (aimed too low), they manually adjusted it on the ramp for me. Martin.

Good evening all As the title says- what is the correct VW colour code for the red used on GTi brake callipers from the factory? Getting a set of brake callipers reconditioned shortly, and would like to have them finished in the correct VW factory red (or it's nearest possible equivalent). (I did try searching the forum, but could not find anything ) Any help/further information gratefully appreciated and received. Martin.

Sorry to crash the thread folks, but here's a pic. of my GTi with 195/45 R15 Kumho's and AP coil overs set at maximum height, were fitted at the beginning of last September so they're bedded in nicely now. Hosted on Fotki Finally managed to add the right picture....lol Martin.

The square piece/square horseshoe piece of wire (A), the other bits are the spring for the handle I think. Martin.

There is a square ish horse shoe like wire clip right behind the handle body on the backside of the bootlid- it sits in a groove and will probably be covered in aluminium fur/corrosion like mine was.... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=331609031221&globalID=EBAY-GB(Picture number two shows the clip I'm on about) From what I can remember, you need to VERY CAREFULLY lever the side that has the curly bit on the end out of the way, and you should find the boot barrel will come out after this. I broke my boot micro switch that clips around the barrel assembly before I worked the clip thing out, oops.... Please don't leave that gaffer tape on very long, it is not paint friendly- no prizes for guessing how I found that out.... Martin.
