  1. We had "knock-your-bins-over" strength wind on Thursday and sadly this ripped loose of it's straps so I have returned it. Will let you know what I end up with!
  2. Week just gone I bought a cheap Β£20 from eBay that claims to be 6 layer. It isn’t, but has kept the car dry yesterday when it rained quite heavily in the afternoon. Item number 404855125625 smallest size, fit is pretty good.
  3. 15 years on and this is still a very useful post - have just recoded a Skoda branded fob of the era to work with my Lupo!
  4. I fully intend on keeping it - owning a raven blue is a dream 20 odd years in the making and was part of the reason I sold my black one in 2022. The aim is to restore to standard (although I do like the steering wheel and gearknob Jamie has installed) which will be a long process, it also needs a full respray in addition to the rust sorting. It didn't skip a beat on the ~300 mile journey home so I'm reasonably confident it doesn't need anything major mechanically, in fact the gearbox is a hell of a lot smoother than the one on my 68 plate Up! GTI!
  5. I thought so too and now it’s up to me to do so…
  6. Not mine but this is loverly https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202305127319356
  7. Sod the TDI, that Sport is probably even rarer! It's odd, I remember seeing this episode 20 years ago but didn't recall it was Lupos they were driving.
  8. Last MOT'ed in 2011 so probably gone to the great scrapyard in the sky sadly!
  9. Upload photos to a Google Photos album and share the link 😎
  10. I replaced my Goodyears on the front about a month ago with Falken ZE310 Ecoruns, I couldn't be arsed messing with non standard sized tyres and there isn't much choice in 195/40R17. Β£160 all in and I'm liking them, much better in the wet than the Goodyears despite the lower rating that's for sure. The Goodyears had done 15k miles in 4 years and still had a good amount of tread but the sidewalls were cracked to hell and there were cracks running inside the tread too, very dangerous!
  11. This is brilliant! Although personally I think you should have kept the spoiler raven blue and painted the car to match πŸ˜‰

    Newbie!

Is that the Β£5.5K one perchance? I won't profess to being particularly knowledgeable but to get the ball rolling - I think aside from the fact they are slightly less desired by the purists among us there isn't much to be concerned about, beyond what you'd be looking for on a UK example. Japanese cars tend to be much less prone to rust and corrosion so that is probably the biggest pro. Check that the speedometer has been changed over as the Japanese use kilometers I believe not miles. And if it is the one I said then the only way to get a replacement headlight washerjet cover is from a chap on here or Facebook that 3D prints them as VW don't make them anymore!
  13. Apparently the original listing didn't have pic number 7 and this is why the first buyer refused to proceed. I'm no expert but it does look rather corroded!
  14. Chap that bought it now has one in every colour apparently!
  15. I've had my mum's old one for over a year now (68 plate she bought new) and as much as I love the Loop (I could never park up without taking a look back over my shoulder and going corrrr what a good looking car πŸ˜…), the Up is so much fun and has really won me over. Standard the handling is much better than the Lupo and although the turbo and modern power steering mean the drive doesn't have quite the same charm and connection to the road, blasting the A roads is still a joy, motorway driving is much more comfortable, and in this age of almost Β£2 a litre you can't argue with the economy - I often get 50mpg or more on a London to Brighton run and I don't drive like a granny! My only real gripes are that sometimes you can really feel that it is only a 1L (it sees first gear much more than the Lupo did!) and it has been built to a budget unlike the Lupo GTI - many things you can correct yourself easily but others, stupid things like the fact the door switches don't light up, are at least beyond my capabilities.
  16. Credit where credit is due, this Finchley one is in better condition πŸ˜‚ Has everyone clocked the anthracite on ebay at 230k miles?? Also a cat d, no bites yet and only days left... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354183736237
  17. Why 2003 onwards?! My 2002 is ULEZ compliant, pretty sure they all are. Only difference is some 51 plates and anything older will have a 5 speed gearbox, but 02 onwards no difference.
  18. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207107646640?include-delivery-option=on&make=Volkswagen&model=Lupo&sort=datedesc&postcode=bn18hh&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1 The ad for this car disappeared for a bit but it is now back, and at least the location is correct this time! I wonder if any photos will be added...
  19. Welcome to the club! I saw this on eBay and the chap selling sent me his folder of photos, looked like a solid purchase with all the spares and a very honest car. My first GTI had a sunroof and I miss it dearly!
  20. Listing now ended on ebay, could it have really sold already?!
  21. That's the ticket! Shame about the mileage, leathers a bit tired now the photos are up but that aside looks a nice example.
  22. Have you spotted it yet? πŸ‘€
  23. Managed to track it down (wasn't in the same spot as last time!). I took the photos pretty quickly and on reflection they still aren't great but you can see the front bumper needs some paint and the marks on the front arch that I mentioned. To be honest I don't think it's more than damage to the paint so perhaps a partial respray and a new drivers side mirror, aerial (!), plus a wheel refurb, and you'd have a decent looking car? Last photo is the obligatory "look two lupos!!" shot I couldn't not get πŸ˜…
  24. The number of sub 100k mileage GTIs must be few and far between now. Mine is at approx 103k and is now just over 20 years old. The days of Β£3,000 affording you a selection of moderate condition examples with 90k-100k on the clocks seem to be well and truly over sadly. I also fear there are so many of us looking for a raven/laser that if/when one is listed for sale, condition will almost be irrelevant!
  25. I suspect the one in that pistonheads listing, and also on Autotrader here https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202204104507703 is the one I spotted. The reg in my photo above if run through the DVLA MOT checker shows the mileage was 63,486 miles on the 23rd October 2021. The price is laughable, the body work is really rough - there is damage to the front arch and bumper on one side, the wing mirrors arent the originals, and the wheels are terrible. It'll need a fair amount spent to get it pristine and really only has the mileage, colour and leather interior going for it. I am back up that way in a week or two so if it is still there I'll take some more photos, it wasn't there about a month ago but was a couple of weeks later so it's anyones guess! Interesting that the ad says Wakefield...
