  1. I'm sure mine is 60mm from the centre of the wheel to arches. (tdi) I've just had a set of eibach spring's from a german ebay seller to lower it 30mm just to reduce the scary body roll. I'm considering bilstien b4s and do it in one hit.
  2. So, the bolts popped out and the straps gone in the door? You can put a screwdriver in the hole and pull the strap back out to meet the post the bolt fell out. If it needs replacing, you need to take the bottom trim off where the speaker lives undo the two 8 or 10mm bolts feed the strap out. Refit is opposite to removal.
  3. With some custom mountings the front shouldn't be a problem. As for the rear, who knows? It would depend of the heights, widths and depths of the bench. Even then it is gonna have to have fabricated mountings. Mk1 tt seats are a safer and more popular option for a cheap leathered lupo. Search for it on here. The rest of the trim won't fit from either cars.

    Help!

Be sure to use a Plastic filler. Glass fibre and/or regular filler will crack all day long.
  5. Welcome, and a very wise choice. The lupo is a great VW for a first car. I had to travel a good few miles to buy mine. Auto trader is always a good place to go. There is plenty of subjects covered on what to and what not to do on a lupo. Enjoy.
  6. You can get a knob and gaiter combo off eBay for about £15 new genuine item. I got one for mine. I think its leather knob with a vinyl boot. Comfier than the standard lupo item You just lift up the gaiter to find a metal clip, snap it off with pliers pull knob up and it's done Fit new one and squeeze the new clip tight. No need to replace the stick.
  7. Are these collection only? Nor interested in the front. Thankyou, Craig.
  8. I changed the temp sensor. It didn't work for me. Brain didn't digest the buzzing and starting issue. Yeah, it would go on a bump start or when the engine had been cooled down. Starter motor wad only 18months old too.
  9. I used to have this problem with my 205 gti. The inlet manifold would heat up the solenoid on the starter motor. Pain in the neck in the warmer months. I believe the mk3 golfs do it. I can't say that this is a certainty on your car. I did replace the starter and it was fine.
  10. So,rather than investing in a golf 5-6 wheel I thought I'd be different (tight) and buy a dune wheel and bag. Seems an easy fit. Fit slip ring and 4 wires. But having a think about it i started to wonder about the compatibility of the airbag with the Lupo's airbag module. Im thinking that if the codes are different will it cause the light to stay on forever? Do I need a matching airbag and module or do I just use a resistor mod and do away with a operational airbag? Thankyous in advance, Craig
  11. Plenty of people have done it. I believe that it is called staggered fitment. I'm planning on doing it to my lupo. Search staggered fitment on here or google. There is/was a blue and a Black lupo running dare rs 7 front and 8 rears.these are very similar to your wheels.
  12. Tidy. Modern paint has a good tolerance to cut back imperfections, and with measuring devices available all should be hunky-dory. A good body shop could get your bumper painted overnight if it came to it. Fascinating story of your car's progress so far and very inspiring. The best bit is when you get near the end only to find that you haven't sold it....
  13. You going to be doin it yourself? Or a paint rectification person. As we are all aware your pretty ace at building cars and don't need much advice from someone like me, but try a small area first. Attack the larger spots first, it may burst through exposing the primer, then again they may go perfectly.
  14. Can't see jazz blue :-( I'll order a black one after UD please, thankyou.
  15. Ebay for heater controls.metal and chrome one's available on eBay. Search vw heater controls. Mk4 golf's, polo's and boras' fit. Same with the gear knob. Lift up the gaiter, twist the metal clip until it breaks. Pull knob up. Job done. There's a how to on here and youtube. Painting parts gloss black seems to be the way to go with the dash. Even hydro dipping or vinyl wrapping.
  16. Ha! It's easy to find a theme and run away with it. Just u paid for that VW logo, don't be afraid to show it off :-) UD next month :)
  17. Get some of the left over vinyl to do the backing on your rear badge. I think it would look good, but its your car. Wheel choices sound sweet. TT leathers seem to be popular and cheap. Nice looking car, by the way.
  18. Mines doing the same thing. Only works from the driver side. And on the driver side the lights on buzzer doesn't work. I wouldn't use second hand door mechanism's as it's a common lupo fault.
  19. Edit: Thought it was just the roof. Did you get the pedals on? I'm toying buying some new oem ones for my tdi.
  20. Common practice in the motor trade I'm afraid. Always the customers tough sh.. To be honest the firm I work at is small, but no way would the customer be wrong. Covering it for the time you did it clearly ain't done anything to it. We had an Astra come in today with the same issue. Obviously has never seen a cover. And it certainly has been re sprayed. Not going to UD??? Can't you wrap it temporarily to match the interior? Silly ideas me. Missed the show last year. Hope to catch your car through the season though. Get on to trading standard's, get them to shake him up. Good luck with it.
  21. It will need to be sanded to the bare metal to get of them for good. Your shop has probably just knocked it off, primed and painted it. The reason I asked if you cover it is that causes them to blister too. Sometimes I've removed badges or weather strips to find the paint has blistered behind them as the moisture tries to escape. Recently I've had to paint strip a 68 triumph trophy tank as the gentleman had covered the bike. And last year same problem with a mk1 golf. I had a feeling you wouldn't be covering yours as a show car should never be hidden. No chemical reactions from car shampoo or degreaser would do that, they'll only dull the paint eventually. It's all down to preparation of the paint, something is trapped under the top coat. Every paint engineer I've met talk like data sheets. Few have ever had hands on experience. Danyutz may have a point if using water base degreaser, but no one would apply paint over degreaser because the paint would slide straight off onto the floor. I really hope you get this sorted out before UD
  22. Quick thought. Your not putting a cover over the car? Please say no.
  23. And remember, it's only made of metal. Anything can be fixed.
  24. I'm also thinking it's moisture. Solvent pops are like craters of various round sizes. You may get the odd one on a panel. Micro blisters are either wet flatting primers and not drying out the water. Old School techniques now. Moist air in the work shop. Cold weather or high humidity will cause it. Your car should have been baked before paint to dry her out to stop this. Take your case to trading standards and get it done elsewhere once your paid for the rectification. The blisters could be any size too. I hope you get it sorted. And those sweet heater control's too keep up the great work
