  1. Thanks fellas, cheers for the tutorials jgee! I've done a bit of investigating and I think it's possible to actually do a bit of bodge to get the function back. Not sure if it's going to work but I'm thinking of threading a bike brake cable through (so I can feed it though all the clips) and then clamping it at the end with an electrical bolt from one of those joining strips. I may post on here if it turns out to work. Problem is that the cables come with weird S shaped ferrules at the end, which I'm assuming are stamped on after it's been fed through all the mechs. Could be a bit of pain to work with one of them, but I suppose a trip to the VW garage to price it up won't cost anything. Also got my heater controls working again, for £10 it's nice not to only have setting 4 and have the air push back my face at G force levels haha
  2. Hi everyone, So I have an X reg Lupo, and the seat cable that operates the tilt function just snapped. I read somewhere this could be an MOT failure? and whilst I don't have that for a while, I do use the tilt function an awful lot. I did some investigating and it looks as though the cable in the drivers seat has rusted and snapped, a small metal clip came out when I took the trim away so it may well have been rubbing on something after this broke off. I know there are two runs of cable, one to the far side (handbrake side), and one to the near side (drivers door side). It is the stretch by the door which has snapped. How do I go about fixing this? I gather I'll need to get into the actual handle at some point...had a poke around but couldn't figure how to remove this. any advice that will save me messing around and breaking things would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Spence
  3. Just realised every time I turn the engine over it moves another 1/4 of the way across the screen haha. I've seen some motors on ebay for £16 so that's a worst case scenario. Already been through the MOT, but the car has been unused for about 18months before me so I think it's probably seized up. I'll investigate - but thanks for your help
  4. Mattarosa - Any ideas on the rear wiper =/? I've checked the fuses and it's fine... the wiper itself feels really stiff (applied very gentle pressure). Could it be seized or could it be a new motor jobby?
  5. Brilliant! Thanks I've just ordered them
  6. Wowza, thanks a load I figured as much with the keys, but the door issue was really bugging me!
  7. Hi Guys, I became the proud owner of a VW Lupo yesterday, and I love it. Unfortunately the car has come with some 'character' i.e, some stuff that really needs fixing or at least a good bodge! Thought I'd post on here as a friend also owns a VW and said it's a great place to get advice. So, list of problems (bear with me): 1. Driver side door is operated on a different key. Not sure why, but it's the only one. I have thought about swapping it for the passenger side lock just to make life easier, and then maybe adding central locking... I have a few good friends who know what they're doing - has anyone done it before and how long does it take? 2. The Doors clunk quite loudly - previous owner said it was to do with the bolts being to small? Anyone know where I can get some that will fit or anything I can do to quieten the noise a little? 3. Rear wiper is unresponsive and looks as though its stuck 1/4 of the way through a movement. Probably a fuse but has anyone else had this? 4. Starter motor is pretty knackered (first attempt at a start the car screams, works on 2nd/3rd attempt). How easy is it to fit? does it need to go to a garage? I've found reconditioned ones for about £30 delivered. Doesn't seem to happen with a full tank of petrol? 5. The emissions light came on during the drive to work this morning? But the car has just been through its MOT? Any ideas? ( I know this is a bit vague). I know they're not the end of the world but if I could get them fixed it would turn an already good little motor into a great one. Any advice would be great Thanks! Spence
