  1. I'm not sure why I'm unable to imbed the images? If any of the moderators can help it would be appreciated. Cheers, Alex.T.Gates
  2. Hi All, I've always been a bit of a lurker on here, so let me first give my apologies for not speaking out much. Up for sale is my 2002 Seat Arosa 1.4 TDi S, which I purchased after your advice on here regarding a reliable commuter. After recently moving to a walking distance from work the little commuter is no longer needed and is my only reason for sale. Please take a look at my first thread on the forums that contains photos of when I first bought it. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/97163-evening-all-wannabe-lupo-owner-here/#entry1122615 ***** The Arosa I found was clean, sturdy, good mileage, and drove well, but most importantly, was unmodified. The only thing that was not to my taste was the scuffs on some of the wheels. The pictures in the thread above were from Day 1 of my ownership. Since purchase in October 2013 I have undertaken around 40000 motorway miles commuting to and from work. It is regularly serviced every 6-7K by myself. It passed its MOT at the end of august with no advisories and is not due again until 29/08/2016 Tax is £30/Yr Unfortunately I have minimal service history, as it came with a pitiful amount on purchase, but most of what I have undertaken in my ownership is collated in a folder. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_183509.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_183526.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_183542.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_183853.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_183929.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_184427.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_184305.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_184031.jpg~original http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o235/fatalbeauty1989/20150929_184142.jpg~original The car comes completely standard apart from Coilovers and a DAB/Bluetooth/Handsfree radio. New Bosch brake disks and pads all round late 2014. 2 new tyres early 2014 Mechanically the car is very nice, everything works as it should, the gearbox is firm and comfortable to use and is ultimately safe and reliable to drive. The overall performance of the little 3 cylinder surprises me and even though I am a fan of much more powerful cars, this little car puts a smile on my face on a regular basis, mostly because it handles the road very well since lowering and it has a great little burst of torque half way through the rev range. What I love most about it is that I average 400-425 miles across a tank that costs £40 to fill up! It's the perfect commuter or car for someone who wants to run a vehicle for minimum cost. The bodywork is in reasonably good condition, although there are a few age related stone chips and marks. After a wash and polish the car really stands out (like in the photos attached). The standard wheels could do with a refirb if you intend to keep them. The only gremlins with this car are the electric windows, the passenger window has never worked, and the drivers window works intermittently. This could be as simple as a faulty switch, but I have never bothered to investigate further. The car is located in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. I am looking for £1995, although I would be willing to take the situation of the electric windows into consideration upon successful viewing. Please contact Alex on 07850 337283 I will check periodically on here but direct to my mobile is probably the best way to get in contact. Thanks for your time, Alex.T.Gates
  3. Hi there, I have a silver lupo tdi, bought it last year for commuting after moving 35 miles away from work. I've since changed jobs, much closer to home and no longer really have the need for a 3rd car to commute with. Runs well, the only issue I've had is the starter motor has a loose connection somewhere so it sometimes fails to start, (open the bonnet, give the starter ground a wiggle and it's fine for a few more weeks) I bought it with tatty standard wheels drivers door scratched and temperamental electric windows. Perfect for slogging me up and down the motorway at 69mpg. I've since fitted a dab radio, it's had new proper fluids required by the PD, filters and 3 new tires. It's been uninsured for almost 2 weeks now, and I'm not sure whether to reinsure it, let the missus have it or what. So I suppose for the right price I'd be willing to part with it. I have no real need for it. It's now got 81k on the clock(mostly motorway miles), around 8 months tax, although the MOT is due pretty soon. She just needs a bit of attention to clean her up a bit externally really. I'm sure there's a way for you to find my previous posts and see the pictures of her Gimme a call/text on 07850337283 if your interested Cheers, Alex
  4. Wow I like the sounds of those mods I intend to get the map soon... If I can get the bloody thing to start... Would love to hear if you have a power figure? Cheers Alex
  5. Hi chaps, Right so today I've had to take the day off work as once again this problem has come about. The car has been running fine for a month yet this morning for some reason it has reared it's ugly head again. The only thing I can think of as a potential external affect is the ridiculous wind and rain we've been having. I never tried replacing relay 109 as the issue had gone, after reading about it I also don't understand how everything up to the point of turning ignition could work correctly if relay 109 was indeed faulty? If anyone can explain as to why it could be causing my issue I'd appreciate it. Anyway so to update you on my symptoms: Ignition on, all lights come on and methodically go out as start up checks are undertaken Glow plug coil comes on and goes out after alloted time as expected I get the fuel prime squelch I turn to position 2 and starter solenoid activates, you can tell current is being drawn as cabin light & fans dim. But no activation from the motor itself! It has to be starter motor or loom from solenoid. It just has to be! However from what I can tell there is no corrosion on starter terminals (it actually looks like it's been replaced recently) There is nothing loose or disconnected There isn't really even any water in the area?? I have also already tried rocking the car in gear to loosen a potentially stuck starter pinion.. At a loss and getting wet... I hope you can help path a way forward as I am at a loss.. Cheers, Alex
  6. Hi all, The other day I had to get my arosa tdi up in the air to look for a cause for horrific clunking every time I even slightly touch or release the loud pedal, also as time went on, upon start up I get the same but about 3-4 times in succession. I imidiately thought either engine or exhaust mounts. Sure enough I found the rear engine mount bolt that goes on to the subframe was somewhat loose in my experience, I removed and the thread is completely rounded! The bolt looks like it's at least 50mm too short as only the top 8-10mm of thread had been used. I've put in a new 40mm longer one, tightened it up as much as I can and all was silent! cured! Blissful! For about 6 miles.. My clunking has returned in full force... Now I've not had a chance to get back up in the air yet, but I find it really hard to believe my bolt loosened so quickly of its own accord.. Is there at all anything likely to be causing this premature self extraction? And if I am going to have to replace rear mount bushes, is it likely the subframe needs doing too if the thread is shagged? I doubt I'll be able to tap it to a larger size and still fit a new bush.. Cheers Alex
  7. So you've had these exact symptoms? What's relay 109 for? Starter? On a little bit of an update, I bump started it again tonight and once again it seems to run fine, started it up 5 times with no issue? Very frustrating! I'll check out the relay Rob, thanks very much Alex
  8. Evening chaps/chappess's So over the last few days I've been suffering a starting issue with my TDI, symptoms are: Turn the key to position 2, normally I get a fuel prime squelch, no squelch! Then I turn to position 3 and starter solenoid clicks, but that is all, motor doesn't even start to try to engage. Upon releasing the key the ignition barrel locks to prevent me from trying again. Now initially I thought the battery was dead, so struggling with my missus I managed to achieve a bump start, (I was bloody nackered!) Ran fine, drove home, in fact ran fine for 3-4 days! However it's now gone again, tried to jump start, made no difference, so I can rule out a battery issue. I don't have an engine light flashing up, so there are no fault codes to be read.. So im presuming I have an intermittent issue with either starter motor or starter solenoid. I've read another fault someone had with similar symptoms, but from what I can gather it was sorted with a new battery. So has anyone got a clue what's up? How easy is the starter to access? What sort of money am I looking for for a new starter (if that is indeed the problem) Thanks very much for your time Alex
  9. I love the look of your arosa pal, what are those wheels in your latest post? They look fantastic! I've only had mine for a few weeks, it's supposed to be a daily but I've already got a bit of a shopping list building up... All the best with her, I hope to see more snaps in the future Alex
  10. Hi chaps, Thanks for your comments, It would seem the JOM set are preferable, and I do see them referred to the most (both positive and negatively mind you) Well I will most likely be buying myself a set for Christmas Thanks for your help
  11. Hi Damien/anyone else reading Im looking at getting a budget set of coilovers for my arosa. Ive looked through various threads and various people have various comments/opinions regarding various brands, and it clouds the air for those new to the car. So this is help for me and any future newbies. (So please dont let this thread get full of petty arguments) Obviously the more expensive you go, the better the engineering thats gone into the set up, design and manufacture, however, i'm cheaping on this arosa as much as I can as its just a dirty daily. I dont want a crazy drop, just a tighter ride, being used to my 300zx, standard ride height is almost causing sea sickness feelings as it wallows so much! I've seen on the dpm website the following: JOM coilovers for £185 http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/jom-coilover-suspension-kitbr-arosa-10-14-14tdi-17sdi-0697-p-8189.html FK AK coilovers for £195 (but currently out of stock) http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/fk-ak-street-coilover-suspension-kitbr-arosa-10-14-14tdi-17sdi-0697-p-9581.html Prosport coilovers for £209 http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/prosport-coilover-suspension-kitbr-arosa-10-14-14tdi-17sdi-0697-p-9443.html So I'd like sensible reviews and comparisons between these 3 sets or similarly priced sets, as a guide for me and anyone else who cant squeeze for the higher caliber brands. Could include: Ride quality Ease of adjustment Ease of installation Corrosion resistance Horror stories? Thanks for your time Alex
  12. Ok well it's here, had to download a couple of patches for it to work on my Galaxy S4 for it to work, something about the comm ports being locked? Anyway other than that it's literally been plug and play! Organised what gauges I want and bam! Tge one thing that I need to have a play with is the timebase on the mpg graphing, it's too quick so it's just a bunch of spikes every time you let off your getting 200 odd mpg because your rolling, I want it to take an average of your readings and put them on a 10s timebase or something.. Same with the horsepower & torque estimation, you floor it and it fluctuates too quickly to properly read the bloody graph But yeah very happy, just gotta get me a tablet cradle now I am going to give it a good old service, oil, filters, perhaps have a look at cleaning up the probably pretty gammy inlet. May look into blanking this Egr, people seem to recommend it on every diesel model I've looked into, the only downside is it runs a little hotter potentially... But I quickly have a list building, which is bad, as this car is supposed to be saving me money! But revo map =£200 superchip map =£300 I want a straight pipe made up, probably another £200 I need lows and tightening up too Coilovers seem rather expensive.. Any recommended Polybush kits? Gti ARB's worth looking into? Then it's just a tidy set of wheels... That's getting on for new tyre money for my 10j rota gtr's... Which are desperately needed too.. God damn you dirty daily, why do you do this to me!
  13. It is a bit of a monster Much prefer the Z mind you And thanks for that, I'll probably buy new in that case Can I technically get bits I need in future from German and Swedish? And it's nice enough interior I guess, surprisingly supporting too. So far I've done about 110 miles to just over a quarter of a tank, which I'm more than happy about! Obviously the dial could yet be biased as I've not run a whole tank yet, but it looks promising! I've also just bought one of those bluetooth obd2 connectors to run the torque app for android devices(finally I have a car new enough to give it a try) Can't wait for it to arrive, anyone had any experience with this software? Its much cheaper and tidier than installing a screw load of extra gauges if nothing else and has a 100ms refresh rate on the dials so shouldn't notice too much of a laggy output Cheers Alex
  14. So I am a proud owner of a little Arosa 1.4tdi! It drives very well, the only thing that concerns me is the doors make horrendous clunking noises as you reach the various steps in the hinge, is this normal? I will investigate properly when I can be bothered She's pretty tidy on the outside but the inside needs a good old clean. Will post pics of other cars for those who asked soon
