  1. 1st of all, after owning my Lupo for ~1month now, I would like to thank the people on here for the great advice that is given. I changed my cambelt a few weeks ago after topics on here suggesting to change them every 60,000 miles and I'm glad I did as the old one had a couple of small rips, so thanks for potentially saving my car! Anyway as the title suggests my mum drove the car around the block while I was at work and now it's broke. She says that the car was pouring smoke and smelt like clutch (which it does) so obviously pulled over - no bangs, no noise, just no drive. When I arrived the car reaked and after checking the car for any visual signs of damage under the bonnet etc. I started her up no problem, however it just wouldn't move - i.e. you could put it in gear but there's no drive. All evidence would point to the clutch but is there anything else that could have gone wrong or promted this to happen or am I just unlucky?! (I drove it yesterday and it was fine).
  2. Top work fella! I'm hopefully getting some G60's soon so I might have a go at this with my old wheels before a do the g60's!
  3. Bit off topic but.... Anyone one here heading to Players Classic saturday?
  4. They look really good - top work mate!
  5. Phew that's alright then I've got plans for her soon though Hmmm new engine sounds tasty!
  6. My car is only standard as I can't really afford to do much atm. Will I be able tag along if I give her a good wax haha?!
  7. Thanks for the advice guys! I understand the appeal with coilovers and being able to change the ride height - that could come in handy! I'm having the cambelt done today so I'll have a chat to my mechanic see what he says.
  8. I'm quite new here and don't know anyone on here either but could I tag along with you guys for the next meet as it would be good to meet a few of you! I live in Sheffield and work 5mins away from the retail park too.
  9. I've recently bought a 1.4 Lupo and I would like to lower it. I would only want to go down 40mm (maybe 60mm at a push) and I'm wondering how best to go about this. I've been advised to go for lowering springs rather than coilovers because a.) I don't need go go really low, as the roads around Sheffield are shocking! And b.) I've been told that coilovers offer a harsher ride over lowering springs as they are more track/B road focused. My questions are: Are there any massive disadvantages with the cheap ebay springs such as Lo Suspension and FK's?! Will I need to uprate the shocks to cope with the added stress? Also will will I need my alignment sorted for a 40mm drop? Any other suggestions and advice welcome Thanks!
  10. Hi! I'm definately up for a meet at some stage and I'll have to look out for you in Sheffield! Your Lupo looks really sweat btw!
  11. Hello everybody! After driving my mums car for 10 months and saving up, I've finally been able to afford my own car! Being a long time lurker within this forum looking at various topics and advice from other users, I decided to buy a Lupo! I bought it on Thursday with 62,000 miles on the clock with service history to back it up and it's only done 10,000 miles in the last 10 years! So far I've covered ~100 miles including a trip to Leeds and I have to say I've loved every minute! It has great character and I love the quirky features such as the dials and pop up front seats! Mods wise I plan on lowering it at some stage and probably change the wheels for something nice and subtle with a bit of dish! So here she is...... And the keys.... Although these tend to change every 1-2 weeks as we make these at work so I'm never short on supply/choice (the keyrings that is!) Cheers, Tom (Edited to IMG picture format)
