  1. Cheers mate, ill have a look tonight and try to pick a new one up.
  2. Cheers guys, I'll get a new thermostat and coolant sensor done at the same time I reckon.
  3. My temperature sensor has not worked for a few months but the car still runs fine. I have been using the torque app to monitor the coolant temperature the past week. Whenever it reaches 81 degrees it will drop back to about 78 and then increase to 81 again. It's been very hot weather, too. I'm thinking it must be a thermostat somewhere but considering my temp sensor isn't sending the signal to my dash could it be this?
  4. I will do, still need to get the paint. I went t halfords thinking they could mix some up for a reasonable price. Turns out it's over £15 for 300mls!! Ordering it from ebay now.
  5. Elephant.co.uk 5000 miles Add 2 named drivers (old as possible withg 15+ years of driving car value £3,100 Occupation graphics designer Parked on street No security features Owned the car since 2012 Held licence for one month This is just a guide, I can guarantee you will not have had a quote as cheap as one similar to this.
  6. I guess i'll be getting my tools out tomorrow. I actually didn't think of that. Doh. These original arosa seats look very heavy! Height adjustable??? pffft.
  7. Iv'e got some corbeau forza 2000 lying around. Iv'e had them for 8 years!! and never fitted them to anything lol.
  8. Can anybody recommend a decent filler to use? I'm also going to respray them anthracite.
  9. Could be the carb cleaner which is causing the splutter. Did you get this sorted?
  10. Awesome! I was slightly concerned at how slow it was to warm up as I haven't actually seen the dial work since iv'e had it. 15 minutes of driving and its only at 80 degrees. I think for the sake of a few quid i'll get it replaced at a garage. Cheers mate
  11. Cheers guys, i'll let yas know what I decide to do. Decat has always been very tempting but I don't want it to fail an MOT. I bet the CAT weighs a bit aswell...hmmmm
  12. Did you leave it on long enough to notice any performance differences? I did find this video in which he just replaces the silencer, it sounds immense lol. It's the same engine as the lupo tdi's
  13. Yeah sound for sure, but it would improve air flow, would it not? I dont wan't to do it and end up losing power and/or mpg
  14. Hi, this may have been posted before, but I can only find one tutorial which is quite vague. My temperature gauge doesn't move at all on my dash. But using VAGCOM it shows the temperature. I'm not too sure where the sensor is located, or if I need a new one as it technically does work but is just not sending it to the dash.
  15. It's quite an inexpensive mod, i know. I'm just wondering if it's worth while doing for an increase in power or mpg. Has anybody done this on the 1.4tdi? I can understand it making a difference on cars with more power, but is it worth doing it on the 1.4?
  16. What are you planning on doing to it? Is it a MK1? Did they even do a yellow MK2?
  17. No, just VAG diesels Yeah, every car is different so really if you want to get a bit more power, and have a say in how much torque you want, or BHP, you should get a custom remap. The thing is with modern engines, the ECU self adjusts to small changes automatically. I was speaking with somebody from awesomegti, who even said if I got a remap and then afterwards decided to get a custom manifold and exhaust, the ECU would automatically compensate and deliver more fuel thus improving power. Yeah, pure google. I was researching for days, there are many websites but I picked blacksmoke because of the reviews and is VAG specialty. He doesn;t do the maps himself, he gets them from tuning shops. I did have a look on his ebay, he seems to buy ECU's for about £20 and put maps on them and sells them for £150! Nice business!
  18. Awesomegti charge £150 for a generic map now on the tdi's, WITHOUT a rolling road! So i'm sure mine is fine. He genuinely did seem to know his stuff and from all my research I can only find positive reviews on his remaps. Iv'e been out in it for a while today. The transformation is astonishing, 40-80 in 5th gear, pulls like a train. So much of an improvement over standard, seriously! I can feel a massive difference in the torque from about 2000 RPM all the way to 4000RPM, The power delivery is really the major positive. It feels a little bit like a petrol now haha. I gave it a good thrashing today and it runs perfectly still, no strange noises, nothing.
  19. I thought I would post my experience in case it is of some use to some of you guys. Iv'e had my Tdi for about 3 months now and was craving more power. I was torn between Awesomegti (who many of you know already) and a DIY option using a cable bought from ebay and the remap bought from a website (www.blacksmoke.co.uk) In the end I decided to go for the DIY option, and if it all went t*its up, get it remapped at awesomegti. The owner of the website, Andrew was really fantastic. He even offers to fix your ECU for free if you somehow brick it. He says he works with local garages who tune cars and he gets a cut when he sells a map. The process of buying the map was very easy. Paid with paypal and took a hour or so to arrive. I backed up my original map in case something horrible happened. I'm very happy with the remap. He claims it is 100bhp with a much better power delivery, which indeed it does feel correct, with minimum smoke at high RPM. The cable I used was a galetto 1260 (£9.90 delivered) which comes with the software to read and write maps onto the flash. I'll report back if anything horrible happens. All in all £55 quid for the best power mod I could have hoped for
  20. Did you drive it for 50 miles of so, after cleaning it? The code doesn't just disappear once it's cleaned. You must run it in. Give it an Italian tune up! Yes you can map it out, but could be costly and you will probably be better off deleting it if you do in case the EGR goes faulty and the code isn't being thrown.
  21. You need to run it in over 50 miles or so for the light to go away. I hear you can disconnect the battery for a few seconds aswell which will wipe the code.
  22. Basically, i'm going to get a remap pretty soon and considering loading it onto the ECU myself. I'll be getting it from here probably. www.blacksmoke.co.uk Basically I am intrigued to see the difference between different maps.
