  1. Awesome! Hopefully I'll see you about Brighton then! best of luck with it! What's the count on it now??
  2. Haha my girlfriend got cross when I changed mine, can't blame her! Went from a lovely black 1.4 sport to a sheddy gti, gti is booked if for a respray early next year so will be good!!
  3. Haha where abouts are you from rocky? Down south?? Should defo get one!
  4. Exciting!!!! I'm at Brighton, well sort of. The course I'm on is written and accredited by Brighton but it's actually ran at northbrook college in shoreham. Drop us a message when you get it, would be awesome to meet another gti owner and Check out your purchase lol!
  5. Ah I know patcham, got a mate who I go to uni with there, you've probably heard him, used to have a very loud civic and now has a newer type R. I lived in coldean last year with uni guys but back home this year due to guys going there seperate ways! There's a build thread on here for the raven gti, guy who owned it wasn't a fool and a chassis notch is a simple cut that means the drive shaft wouldn't knock, wouldn't be noticeable to anybody unless you were comparing two Gti's together at the same time lol!
  6. And agree about the FB page , it has it's uses but it's not amazing.
  7. There's a raven on eBay now!! I've always wanted a raven, I got quotes to spray mine to raven but it was about 6k!! The 2k is just to blow over the outer and tidy it up :/ best of luck dude! Whereabouts in Brighton are you??
  8. Haha trust me she's not, when she's been resprayed she will be thanks!!
  9. Yeah she needs loads of tlc, been getting quotes to get the exterior all fixed so that ball is rolling!! I'm really excited about having a shiny car again lol!! Mechanically she's alright though, needs an air con regas and I need to pull my finger out and service her but she's alright for now!! There's a laaaavely red gti in Lewes that I occasionally see parked near my work, it's got arosa rear lights tho (don't like them personally) btw are you on the lupo/arosa parts page on Fb? Have a look, might help your search. And when you do go for a gti drop me a message! I'd be quite happy to help out lol!
  10. Nice to see someone from down south!!! I used to live in brighton (back in ringmer now, just outside of Lewes)! When you get it would live too meet up!!
  11. Fuuuuuu THANK YOU! I am going to enjoy reading that!!! Finally. Something more exciting than a 1.8T!!
  12. Lupogtiboy, I'm sure it could be made to fit, although all cars are getting bigger so maybe it wouldn't... I'd love to have the whole DSG on the Lupo, that would be maaaad!! Danny that would be such a shame if it is... I think someone with the funds should attempt it, lupogtiboy reckon you could get a quote for the engine? I'm thinking +6000 for the entire unit management system everything.
  13. Hi guys, Does anyone know if anyone's done anything other than 1.8t swaps and the usual old stuff? I was wondering how hard it would be to fit the new polo gti engine (1.4tfsi running 180ps) and it's gearbox? That would be pretty cool IMO! What do u guys think? Other than it being a hugely costly project considering its a brand new engine bla bla bla.
  14. There are plenty of parts people will want off of it, have u any pics? What's wrong with it????
  15. Ah didn't know that! (Makes sense of course) quite a few ancineries are shared tho right?
  16. I think (rich or someone will correct me If I'm wrong) the 1.6 golf block is the same as the lupos block, only difference would be internals and also the head has been modified to give more power. So the cams and port flow is different when compared to a golf 1.6.
  17. Nice! I'd love a modded mk2, just can't justify having my sheddy loop and another project!! At the end of the day mate it's whatever you can afford + want to do! I wish u luck with whatever you choose, everyone has there own taste! I'm not going to judge that's for sure!! Best of luck.
  18. Retro fitting AC is a horrendous job from what I know as it's the first thing that's built into the dash when the car is being built, buying a dead 1.4s or gti with air on would probably be the best idea, as fitting a 1.8t which has an air on pump already fitted to it and just plumbing it in would be easiest from what I've read. But again this needs to be verified by someone who's done it. I'm only going from what I've read. There's a yellow 1.4s which was running an eaton super charger making 160-180bhp if I remember. Think it was sold/dismantled tho. As mattarosa said about the sport head with the gti body I can expand on it a little. People swap the heads to allow for different cams to be used along with ITB's. The head needs work to make it match up to the block first (I think, someone verify that please?). You could potentially get a system like that to 200bhp but you'd be compromising drivability (due to the lump idle coz of the cams), efficiency and also reliability. They're incredibly cool tho and sound amazing. But again factor in cost. ITB's (wouldn't use anything but jenvy's tbh) would cost you around 2k, that's not including rolling road time, the sport head or the custom control unit that you'd need to run. Sadly the gti lump is the 1.6 golf engine that's been highly tuned, the clearances within the engine are ridiculous as well, such a shame IMO that it didn't come with the 1.8t like the Ibiza cupra came with at the same time (silly VW). As for tuning it would probably cost another couple of grand to get running at the desired amount of power. (i'd personally go for a company that uses hub dynos or who remove the engine and get flywheel power as it's more accurate and allows for a better map but this type of tuning is generally aloft I more money) So all in all; Best option on reliability, cost, drivability, power gain and available parts would probably be the 1.8T. Hence why loads Of people have used that engine. I reckon you could get a 2.0na lump in but what would be the point if You get better gains out of the 1.8t. Sorry about the essay!!
  19. What pm is this dude??? I'll pm you my number, easier to communicate via phone!
  20. The gains from the 1.6 gti lump when turbo'd are very minimal, there's a guy on here who's done it but had to uprate everything and has spent a few grand on the engine alone. IMO not really worth the hassle tbh when the 1.8t is a very solid engine (but you have your reasons for not using it!) I can't remember the thread for the turbo'd one but I think it could run about 6-8psi and only gave about 140-150bhp at that (again this needs to be verified, i read it along time ago!). As for the AC, it was an optional extra, most GTi's had them but I've also seen the odd 1.4 with them as well, just a matter of hunting for one.
  21. Also noticed the other night that when the xenons are on ALL the lights flicker, going to test the battery then the alternator to make sure both are working correctly. Also does anyone know if the ballasts are the same as a mk2 Laguna/S4? I've read on various forums they are the same but I haven't been able to remove my ballasts and check codes! Thanks in advance.
  22. 2K is a good price man! Well considering the prices I've been quoted, obviously mine needs a lot of Tlc before the spray would happen!
  23. How much have you been quoted for the respray dude? How much did your misses one cost? Thanks! P.s I reckon some Cambridge lights would look pretty cool on that lovely back end!
  24. Have a look into other engines that could run the same cat. Could potentially use a polo gti one? And if that is the case then try and find one that's being sold etc..
