  1. QUOTE(tdwindustries)I was flashed 2 weeks ago - didnt get anything yet.I think they are good to be honest - its a huge amount of work and as twisty says they are always working nights. What a great job they are doing too - ahead of time and a great road surface. True, true. Of course the irony is - the smooth surface makes you want to drive faster! doh. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  2. QUOTE(snoopstah)I wouldn't be too worried - whenever I drive the M25 from the M3 to the M4, I see the Gatsos going off all the time. They must run out of film within an hour of being changed! It certainly used to be the case that if you got flashed through temporary roadworks on a motorway, you got a fine but no points. However, that may have changed, so don't quote me on it. I certainly hope that's the case! Without a doubt it's taught me a lesson....have been driving like a pensioner since (not in the sense that I've been swerving from lane to lane without noticing mind!) style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  3. QUOTE(bossjohnc)Was it a roadside gatso or one of the ones mounted on the signs? If the latter, I think you'd have to be extreemly unlucky to get a ticket. However I know a lot of that area is covered in roadworks at the moment - you might not be so lucky if it was a roadside one... All I remember is that the flash came from the left side of the road behind me.....there were several lanes of traffic so not even sure if it specifically went off just for me (I was definitely speeding though!)........certainly wasn't from directly behind me.
  4. QUOTE(twisty `b-road`)Was it in the variable limit west side of town?Yes, I believe so. Was heading back to Basingstoke from Heathrow, my geographical knowledge (along with Gatso awareness it would seem) is pretty horrendous! A very expensive journey I guess
  5. QUOTE(bossjohnc)No valid reason for the 40MPH speed limit? No roadworks? Are you sure? I expect it'll be the standard 3 points and £60. (If anything that is) I don't recall seeing any road works....but even so, that surely can't apply at gone 9pm on a Saturday night? Fair enough during the day or in rush hour......bizarre.
  6. ARGH! Was driving my g/f back from the airport Saturday night, about 9.15pm I get flashed twice on M25....was doing approx 55mph in 40. Really quite annoyed as it's 4 lanes of light traffic, clear/dry conditions with no valid reason for temp speed limit. What am I likely to get for doing so? I expect points and a lovely fine, anyone had any experience with this ridiculous system? Is there anywhere to contact to find out if I have been caught? To be honest, the wait will kill me....I'd rather know now if I have been done!
  7. Here, here (is that how you spell that?) My sentiments EXACTLY I don't care that my issues are seen as "major" by some....at the end of the day, my car has been into the garage 12 times in 15 months....that is not what I expected when I bought a VW.....a brand name I associated with trouble free, sturdy and reliable motoring. I was better off in my Peugeot! All I know is, this experience has throroughly tainted my opinion of VW, and I don't have any kind of bond with my car anymore....gutted.
  8. LOL - VW making a small job sound difficult then!!! They told me they had to replace the mechanism or something.... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  9. Mine did that.....motor was ****ed to the window. I couldn't even get the window to shut.....I'd open it half way and it got stuck, then died in me completely. Had to restart the car to close it! weird.
  10. OK, they may not be (car) life threateningly bad things....but my motor has literally spent as much time in the garage as it has on the road...surely that's not right?
  11. LOL x 10! Quite right...I feel like I'm going insane, and the typical response I get from the garage is apathetic to say the least. I used to think VW was a rather upmarket brand name, and the cars would be engineered to perfection....how wrong was I! This has been my 2nd worst car I've owned so far, just behind my crappy old L reg Escort!!!
  12. I ended up needing a new base to the seat...they tried rebuilding/replacing the back part.....if you have warranty still go and complain!!! I've got the customer service number and will be calling tonight for some kind of compensation.....it's not acceptable!
  13. I certainly will do. Didn't mean to put anyone off....the Lupo is a great little car, it's just that I haven't had a 2 month stretch where it hasn't been in the garage....it's really rather annoying! The pedal box problem alone took nearly a dozen repeat visits to fix! Unbelievable.
  14. I've certainly learnt a few things from this purhase - 1- Don't buy a car because you love the looks above all else and are desperate to drive something no other people in the area do 2- These cars are rare for a reason, their reliability is appalling! 3- Extend your warranty!!!!!!!!!
  15. If you tap the underneath of the cup holder there's a rattle.....I've stuffed a rag between the back of the cup holders and the unit below, that seems to work! £9000....jesus, did they have to `re-build` your motor? what were you driving?!
