  1. If you put the key in the lock and hold it in the lock position for a couple of seconds, it should resync.
  2. False, as long as you have the correct border measurements there's no problem. (just to say I agree with Defcon)
  3. Fogs are legally speaking too low for indicator placement, although you may get away with it.
  4. Please can you come and do my kitchen?
  5. My 2p: Anything is only worth what people will pay for it. The aftermarket prices themselves dictate the value of the car, if the car won't sell then the price will drop. Who knows why the GTI has retained its value so well... my guesses are that it's unique, economic and nippy, well specified and if I'm honest a bit of a head turner for people interested in cars due to its rarity.
  6. Strike that, reverse it. (I of course meant 0.22 gallons to a litre)
  7. He's got the original headlights fitted, so they won't fit properly - not sure what he'll have done with the indicators. I'd love to see what it looks like close up when the bottom of the front wings meet the sills. Bodge job imo, but sort of impressive nonetheless.
  8. Well, it's not allowed. I think you'd be unlucky to get pulled for it, and if you did I think you'd get a ticket. Ultimately you're responsible for your car complying with the law, sympathy with your situation is unlikely but possible.
  9. Really not long... just keep filling to the click until it won't take any more. I tend to just lean on the 'button' with the filler pipe.
  10. Yes, magic button used - I use it all the time. It's actually fairly easy to inadvertantly knock it with the filler hose.
  11. Although book figures are usually a little on the high side... the 1.4 75ps is 44.8MPG combined. I don't doubt your figures, but you are doing this on the assumption that you're only getting 34 litres in to a tank. You really need to check the pump and see what you're actually getting in for a fair figure. (last night I filled up with the light on and got 41 litres in)
  12. Going by Lupos I've driven in the past, I don't think that 175 miles per tank is beyond the realms of possibility with short town trips. In fact I'd go as far as to say that's about right... the amount of fuel different people get in the tank in the first place does vary a little, how much are you putting in/using? You can do other things to help... make sure your tyres are at the right pressure, learn to think ahead when driving, maybe take a route with less traffic etc.
  13. All UK Spec GTIs have heated door mirrors and washer jets. All activated by the rear screen heater switch. If yours don't work it's likely the element has gone or there's a wiring problem.
  14. You're right, just checked - it's 34L.
  15. 0.22 Litres to a Gallon 34 official Litres to a tank Approx 40 litres using the button / brimming the tank (I've managed to put just over 40 litres in to my car on a few occasions) I've had 400 miles to a (very full) tank from the GTI, frequently had mid 300s, usually high 200s.
  16. The OEM aftermarket one should have a slot that takes the original brakelight.
  17. Nice of you to admit your perjury and insurance fraud on an open forum, perhaps the insurance co. will find you before it decides to spread the premium increase over the rest of us.
  18. One way to avoid condensation build up is to always have the fan on when the car's on. Make sure it's at least set to '1' for a constant circulation of air. I know of people that drive with their blowers off all the time and their cars stink of damp.
