  1. Topics merged, title changed to give people a bit of a clue as to what the content is
  2. The point at which the fuel comes out of the end of the hose needs to be lower than the point at which it goes in. Lupo > TT
  3. To emphasise my point about it being legit, there is nothing in law to forbid it directly. Here's a picture of a bus:
  4. All pics are now long gone unfortunately
  5. Believe it or not, that's not correct as long as cameras can still read it. A member called A13EX_F fabricated a plate holder for his back window a long long time ago - you won't find him here now though. It was lit, and complied as far as I could see. Having this as an afterthought does seem a bit daft though.
  6. Well the news story says she was unharmed, but still pretty shaken up I recon! I'm not sure what you could do in that situation if your horn doesn't get through to the driver. I certainly wouldn't stick any part of my body out of an open window for fear of what might happen next...
  7. Great to see you back, and great to hear you fully intend to buy another loop. Get well soon!
  8. In all honesty, if you want out and out speed, then don't buy either.
  9. JB1.0e last posted 6th March. Accident happened 8th March. It looks like his car, side strips are still in place as they are on his sig, there's nothing there to say it's not. I hope it isn't him, but if it's him then I hope he's not too badly hurt BBC News
  10. To be fair to the car, the gearboxes were not necessary and the engine suffered from the wrong people poking around in it. The only other thing I'd take a massive issue with is the rear high brake light/spoiler. I've had mine fully sealed so it doesn't happen any more.
  11. Well, I've replaced tyres and stuff like that. I've also had two new gearboxes and a replacement engine, alternator, starter motor. Pretty much your regular stuff.
  12. That was posted a couple of weeks back. I'll fix your link for you. LGG too quick for me!
  13. I've had a few parking tickets in my time - not paid the last few though. http://www.pepipoo.com
  14. If you think economy is about going slow (which to be fair is what you said), then maybe you need to rethink your position. There must be a reason you're getting sub 30mpg, and it's either you, the car or the type of journey you do. If you really are driving economically (rather than just slowly) then it seems as if the car may need looking at.
  15. It's not really about going slow, it's more about: - Using the brake and throttle as little as possible - Coasting down big hills / where you can see far ahead enough to slow down without engine braking - Keeping as close to 55-60mph as possible at all times where there are no obstructions ahead I recently got 430 miles out of a tank on my GTI.
  16. It was absolutely right, only seen one in the UK though. If I'd got mine brand new instead of ex demo, they'd have been on it.
  17. Well clearly as we can't have an intelligent conversation in this thread I'll be closing it for now.
  18. This is a bit of an old trick to get lots of visitors to a porn site. Well done.
  19. Most cars have LHD/RHD adjustment for their HIDs. Lupo GTIs do not. If you ask a dealer to adjust them for you, they'll probably happily take your money, mess up your headlight alignment, and send you on your way.
  20. I can't see that there would be any way to limit mechanically. The above would only happen if you accidentally changed down (which would be fairly hard to do) at high revs. If you do this, it is actually logged on the ECU. Obviously it's not possible to accidentally change down in to top gear
  21. TBH I don't see any 'bragging' or anything illegitimate in this thread, and it's quite an interesting thread, so it'll stay open for the moment.
  22. A perfectly reasonable question, let's hope it remains a perfectly reasonable thread. The top end of a GTI by the book is 127mph. This isn't necessarily where the rev limiter is in top gear, but it's probably near there. The reality is that the speedometer in most cars (unless calibrated) overreads by a percentage, therefore it's pretty useless in this kind of situation, and may well read 140mph (which is wrong). GPS will give a more accurate reading - and the top limit might be stretched with factors like a downhill gradient / prevailing wind etc. The 127mph is likely to be a physical limit on a flat road, a point at which the power given cannot overcome drag to go any faster. As mentioned, this is unlikely to be at the rev limit, as peak power occurs slightly before that point. HTH
  23. As I said, all Lupos, left and rhd came without a glovebox in the beginning. The glovebox was introduced to LHD in 2001 but the RHD design remained the same, either an oversight or a cost saving. It wouldn't have cost more to leave it the way it was.
  24. Not true - they're very similar, but not the same! Swapping all of it may work, but the parts are not interchangeable as many have found out (me included). I'm not sure taking the whole dash and fitting it would be 'perfect' either, as surely VW would have done this themselves if it was.
