  1. I should have bought it when I thought of it, but I didn't have a car to put it on... now somebody's gone and got it. It's still shown as available on the `DVLA-SOM` website, but I called, and somebody's registered it in the past week! L33T VW ******! I was really looking forward to having that plate on my new GTI. Others available that I'm not that interested in (although they might be good for someone with big plans!) are: W12 1UPO or V12 1UPO I've put an order through with someone else for L33T VW, but I don't think it'll go through if the DVLA say it's taken style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  2. Well I've said this recently on the forum, and I'll say it again... Once your VW Warranty runs out, if you want to keep the car get an AA Warranty! They're better than VW ones!! This is because the AA will shell out for everything up to £1000 at a time, parts and labour (with a £25 excess) This makes the VW dealer very happy, and puts you in their good books. Any arguing over price etc is done by the AA and VW, and you're left out of the loop. Plus, VW seem far more keen to find faults when your car is out of warranty with them! They'll put a warranty on anything up to 10 years old / 100,000 miles. The Lupo GTI should be about £200 - £250 / Year.
  3. Other than the price, that's what puts me off a new one. After deciding what I want, seeing that it's available to me for the cash I have, I couldn't wait another 3 months... the lack of sleep would kill me!
  4. They say a picture paints a thousand words... border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  5. It's an `ex-demo`, which puts my mind at rest a bit about it's history.
  6. Wot, you mean like novas? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  7. ...and if you don't have anywhere to host it, see http://www.uploadit.org style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  8. Well, I was looking at one in Rochdale that was stolen/recovered if you remember... the HPI said it was written off. I got the HPI documentation through this morning, and it said that the vehicle had been damaged, and was repairable, but the insurer decided not to repair. That sounds dodgy enough - let alone being from Rochdale! (and being a gear short of course). I'm mega happy with this find - it's an ex demo too, so it's been with the VW garage since new. Don't think I'll bother with the HPI on that one!
  9. It takes 4 working days from when they receive the application, which I sent on Friday... Unfortunately, that may mean Monday Week style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> But I'm just like a little kid at Christmas again!! I can't wait!!!
  10. Got any NCB? I'm sure it'll be better when you're 25 too...
  11. You'll have another one soon - I collect my GTI in a week or so style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Currently own a Passat (not worth posting really), used to own an immaculate low mileage 1300 (beetle) in gold. It was my pride an joy, got comments from loads of peeps but in the end I just didn't have the time for it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Keep telling myself I'll seek it out and buy it back when I'm rich and don't need to work!
  12. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I pick it up when the loan comes through! Insurance is easier when you're 27 with a full no claims... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  13. woooohooooo!!!!!! Can't link picture for some reason, but it's on Autotrader. --------- 3 door, Hatchback, Reflex Silver Metallic, 10825 miles, `Anti-lock` brakes,Drivers air bag,Air conditioning,Alarm,15'' Alloy wheels,Remote central locking,Front electric windows,Automatic headlamp adjustment,Power steering,Gamma radio / cassette,Rear wash wipe,Rev counter,Split rear seat,Engine immobiliser,Headlamp wash, cloth interior £9995. --------- Just reduced from £11,499, I got it for £9,750!! What a brucy bonus!! And from a VW dealer!! It's everything I want, Silver, Six, and the air style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I know it's bog standard but it's still a lurvely car! For anyone else looking who doesn't mind lack of air con, there's a red one going for £8,799 with 3000 miles on the clock.
  14. You know, you're right. I think I just want one too badly - this one just sounds far too dodgy. Anyone want to sell?
  15. D'oh! I'm starting to think I want a 6 speed now!!!
  16. Aye, I look forward to joining the club properly soon. I'll post pics when I get it.
  17. It has to be silver 'fraid. I've been patient and I've been waiting around for ages. I would have gone for that 7.5k silver one on autotrader last week, but it didn't have air con. I'm fussy! Thing is, I want it to be right. It's the right car, and I'll be happy driving it I think... I'll be a second user anyway, and I'll keep it under warranty. Maybe I should wait a while longer?
  18. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I know I know... It was advertised as stolen/recovered, so they're being upfront. I've HPId it and it pretty much checks out, but I hear what you're saying. If anyone's got a silver lupo with air con for sale or knows of one at around that price - let me know!!
  19. Well this is my only problem... It's from a garage - a company I mean, not a private sale. It's been stolen and recovered with no damage. I live in London, and I have to go to Rochdale to pick it up :0 There are others near me, I've been looking for a while and this is the best I've come across. I can't wait!
  20. Oh, well that's ok then. We can't go that fast in this country. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  21. They want £8,700 for it - which sounds good to me. I really wanted `air-con` too after this summer. I'm getting rid of my '97 (newish style) Passat 20v which really has been nothing but trouble - although when you have an AA extended warranty that's not such a bad thing style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> (New engine @50,000, new front suspension, new power steering pump, new rack, new electronics console, new this, new that etc etc) I say that, but over the last year it's been 100% reliable, and it's a great runner. While I was having loads of work done on it VW loaned me a 1ltr lupo - and I've never had soo much fun (although could have done with a little more power!) I did about 4000 miles in their loan car, and had lots of fun 'skating' on ice too  Not so sure I'll be doing that with my own GTI, but I'm so sure it's going to be the best car I've ever driven.
  22. Interesting.............. I never realised that - any idea if the fuel economy is any different? It's reflex silver (my fave), '51 reg, 15k on the clock, air con, full 'winter pack' (anyone know what goodies that entails?), and interestingly it's got side air bags which *hopefully* I won't have to use style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  23. I'm lusting after a nice 2nd user '51 reg Lupo GTI - looks just like what I want... air con, full winter kit right colour etc. Dealer is adamant it has a 5 speed box, and he's using it at the moment. Does it sound dodgy, or did VW ever make 5 speed lupo GTIs??
