  1. sophie is one of favorite names..
  2. now that sophie, is a leuung hill to drive up. you must be very high indeed. yes..
  3. there is no access to the upper grill on a gti, the radiator and fan block it off. unless you mean a modification of some sort to the fan housing?
  4. mines all done now, didnt need to remove carbon canistor. have a nice spun aluminium air intake duct annodised in black behind the bumper grill, very stealth. and then black flexi 63mm bore ducting upto the primaray stock section of intake pipe. another tip is to remove the inner metal sleeve from the stock pipe to free up some internal bore, its not needed. will post pics when i get my camera shortly.
  5. i fi was there i would have told her to wait for the flood to rise and then she can float back.
  6. if you get the same rolling radius and same width then the weight should stay about the same or only fractionally more, tyres are just as heavy as wheels. so on a 16" wheel you will have more wheel weight but less tyre weight, if the radius is the same. but then there is no point to get bigger wheels of the same radius if you want to fill your arches, as they will be the same overall size as before including the tyres. the only way you can fill arches is to lower the car. oversizing your radius leads to all sorts of problems apart from a drop in performance you will get a lot of stress in the clutch/driveshafts/gear box. as said above the only practical big wheel upgrade is to have 16" alloys with 195/40/16 tyres fitted.
  7. Key proposals are: Engine efficiency Limit engine power by imposing a maximum energy flow rate. There will be few restrictions on the engine cycle, which can include turbo-charging and energy recovery. This could lead to a gain of at least 20% in thermal efficiency. Drag Allow moving aerodynamic devices, which will reduce drag by more than 50% and allow a 40% reduction in the power required to maintain current speeds. Energy recovery Energy will be recovered during braking and returned to both front and rear axles when accelerating. The amount of energy returned on each straight will be limited in order to prevent top speeds exceeding circuit safety criteria. Fuel The total amount of fuel energy to be consumed during a race will be regulated, encouraging further overall efficiency. The CO2 emitted will be further reduced by the introduction of gasoline which is partly derived from sustainable, non-food bio sources but complies fully with pump fuel legislation. Overtaking New aerodynamic rules will halve the downforce, and de-sensitise the car to the influence of the wake of the car ahead. It is also proposed to eliminate automatically the downforce deficit of the following car. Regulations The best estimates of what these measures will mean in terms of regulations are currently as follows: • 1.3-1.5 litre, 4-cylinder engine; • no RPM or boost limit; • energy flow rate to generate 300kW, including energy recovery from the exhaust; • 200kW brake energy recovery, front and rear axle; • 400-600kJ energy return per straight; • pump-legal bio-fuel; • FIA specified and supplied undertray and possibly other aerodynamic components; • 50% 2007 downforce; • adjustable, regulated wings and cooling; • automatic downforce adjustment when following another car; • lap times and top speeds maintained at 2009 levels; • over 50% reduction in fuel consumed. Costs A number of measures to constrain costs are proposed, including: • standardisation of components (including wheels, brakes, brake ducts and uprights); • homologation of components and assemblies; • material restrictions; • extended life of assemblies; • restrictions on personnel and work at races; • restrictions on the use of certain facilities (eg wind tunnels).
  8. i discovered from testing the ctr and revised ctr 05 onwards i think, it has a much nicer steering wheel. the original is too thin and doesnt feel comfortable to hold.
  9. i dont know chesterfield or derbyshire. cornwall is my area of knowledge. i'm still holding out for the cornish lupo member lol.
  10. about the ban its a good start, now we need to ban parents from smoking near their children. god knows what its like in their own homes but i often see a mother holding her babies' pram chatting to a friend and in her hand is a lit cigarette hovering over the baby. the annoying thing is even if that was banned the baby is messed up anyway as they still have a rotten parent who cant care properly for children. as for the pub, many pubs in the uk have tried the embassy trick, i remember an official saying it wouldnt be allowed to happen anyway. there is no way to avoid the ban.
  11. well thats one invisible point in the air for you. but i will respond with if you slide and fold the civic rear seats flat i expect it will offer much more space, i cant be wrong this time, its physics the civic is higher bodied.
  12. and i said moooose. see how easy it is to get confused.
  13. i see, well its a good price if it is a gti then, even with 70k miles. you think? bargain hunt?
  14. you can cut up an old bank card to make 2 sections that fit in the thin slots you see either side of the unit, as you slide then in the unit should release from the catches and you can pull it out. are you a new member? where abouts you from?
  15. low milage has an a amazing effect on car prices. disproportionately so. yes i just did spell that long word.
  16. i was looking in auto trader and saw this bargain sounding black gti. trader gti i thought hmm could even buy it to store for investment. but then looking at the picture its not a gti, scamming begger!. i was thinking how easy it could be to stick a gti badge on the back of a lupo and sell to someone who hasnt seen a gti before so wouldnt know the difference. watch out.
  17. hi, you dont need a a jack to use the moooose. your not meant to have one with the gti. 5w30 oil will be good for top ups.
  18. yeah a copper or dark bronze.
  19. had a play today. i now can see for the 1st time the restriction in the stock induction pipe, it looks really good until you get to the hidden bit by the arch, it goes down to nearly half the bore size, not good. unfortunately my ducting was 76mm bore which is too wide for a nice fit down to the bumper grill. so £40 later i have ordered some 63mm bore ducting, a alu inlet end from demon tweeks. this should be just right hopefully. single bolt holding stock inlet pipe is very annoying to get to, its covered by the power steering hose. btw i will add a tip, before replacing the engine cover unscrew the no longer used resonator pipe from underneath it, saves a decent amount of front end weight. i think its agood idea to retain the engine cover, aswell as looking neater and better it retians the engine heat where it should be, in the engine and not the engine bay.
  20. i would agree, but one factor could be the boot space, which i expect is smaller than civic.
  21. you probably already know this but neither are as fun as the lupo gti. as for space lupo gti can still carry 2 parents 2 children and shopping. just curious to why the change?
