  1. Do the brake lights work? Baro sensor is under manifold, check wiring and operation
  2. When the throttle pedal is twitching its the throttle body thats correcting. Its trying to stop the engine from cutting out, could be one of several problems, throttle body needs a clean and reset..first thing id try, cures most idle probs on lupos. Then id check breather system, vacuum pipes for leaks (your hunting issue) or if you have access to one, use a scantool or vagcom to see what codes you have, more than likely lambda or egr faults due to the throttle failing. Hope this is helpful. :-)
  3. Its hardly possible to get a 165 on an 8j, on my borbets I had 195 on a 7.5j and it had a sexy stretch! I could go down to a 185 but it looked better and handled better with the 195s, so in perspective you would struggle to get a smaller tyre than me on a wider rim than me and keep safety and handling... Iv seen and tried silly stretches at work in the past just to push the limits but you start to lose safety, I.e I have fitted a space saver tyre onto a 7j rim just to say "I can do it" but id be stupid to drive on it! Lol
  4. Not true im afraid, only solid rule to fail mot is shatp protrusions, theres nothing sharp about rubber, but theres is a limit, over an inch and thats taking the p##s
  5. Sure I will when I get the snow off it ill take some for ya!
  6. Iv just serviced mine with 10w40 semi, runs quiet!
  7. I had some genuine borbet a 16" on my mk3 golf and there was a part number on the back of one of the spokes, that should be a good sign, plus I think the 15s are copies?! I might be wrong but im sure borbet only made these in 16" Hope this helps!
  8. Exactly! You will need a windback tool or if you dont wana buy one, you can use some grips or big pliers to rurn it and some more big grips to compress the piston back into the caliper, it wont work otherwise...
  9. I bet, nice mk2 btw! ll prove a point between me and you..
  10. Are you the guy I bought mine from?? You called James... Its done 87k...its vreg... Sdi s... All coincidental!?
  11. Hi all I have a nice gti gauge pod cover/hood that has been flocked red Any offers pm me I also have pics to email
  12. Remember the lambda fault is usually a dirty or failed throttle body or egr valve... Its usually a red herringleading u in the wrong direction
  13. Very true yes Light on solid or flashing could mean another faulty sensor, or on already fitted is faulty, if your fluid is topped up, try unplugging the level sensor and see what happens, if no change to the light it may not be the level sensor. You could check the abs reluctor rings for dirt or crap in between the gaps? Just a few thoughts? I do have vagcom if your local? Staffordshire?
  14. Very true defcon5 lol it is madness, its a seriously daft idea! but so are the rediculous sarcastic answers im getting from those two dipsh#ts Obviously they know everything! I dont want 130bhp, I never sed that, it would be nice to have a bit more torque, say 135, 145nm is nice
  15. Rich and Scotty... The typical jerks on here that have an answer for everything except the question in hand... Maybe you should use that quote in your Sig! Anyway if thats all im gna get then thats that, ill just have to look into porting out a head and matching manifolds next then Thanks to the genuine people with genuine answers!
  16. Ok none of that really helped, was all typical answers I expected tbh, my Mrs is more than happy with it but the point is, my run around is a 130pd so wen I get in the lupo it feels like im going backwards lol, just wanted to hear experience of cheap/sensible upgrades to give more oompff! If I wanted a tdi I would obviously have bought one... But I like the Sdi for cheap insurance, plus the tdis are a lot more to buy initially...
  17. Iv used a cda intake at 68mm internal but I used a short piece of silicone tube to connect the filter to the manifold
  18. Honestly, dont use anything to clean it, its just the reservoir! Its the fluid in the lines that are important! Just flush with clean fluid and away you go
  19. You may just need to erase the codes or you have another faulty sensor, could also be brake pedal switch, they do play up... ALOT!
  20. Right ok, ive seen many threads saying there are little or no ways to tune the slow n sluggish 1.7 Sdi lump, iv tried a few things, so far not cost much EBay tuning box ( aka a resistor in a plastic box) 32 quid Removed intake trumpets and cleaned inlet manifold Ground out intake ports on manifold Chopped out air intake from airbox upto manifold and replaced with cda intake 40 quid Right so now im stuck, I KNOW the answers I will get, get a turbo, get a tdi, blah, the reason I have the Sdi is coz me and the Mrs use it ands its only a group 3 insurance, im used to driving a golf gttdi 130 so need more from thr loopie, Any help or previous mod experience would be fantastic lol I reckon its around the 75bhp and 130nm torque ( maybe) I do understand the 90bhp golf tdi engine is very similar head and block wise, any experience of using a turbo from it on an Sdi? I aint scared of modding/tuning but want to keep the 1.7 in there Cheers guys
