  1. Anyone any ideas of a price from dealer for a short block as mentioned above??
  2. Yes, I'm talking about the ally block engine. I'm struggling to find a replacement engine and investigating all options. Any ideas what options are available at the dealers?? It looks like main bearing failure on my current engine.
  3. Hi folks Has anyone out there ever managed to successfully replace the main bearings on their 1.4 16v engines?? I'm hearing that it is not possible to replace the main bearings as it upsets things with the block. Has anyone managed to get round this and if so how?? If it's not possible to replace the main bearings, what are the options available from the dealers?? Do they offer short engines and if so what kind of price are we talking about?? Thanks in advance for all replies and opinions...
  4. I'm not disputing that the BBY engine was never in the Lupo but from what I've seen you can't replace the AHW engine with one as there are differences. What I'm looking to find out is if the AUA can replace the AHW. I've been told above that it can but has anyone out there actually done it and if so, what do I need to know about where the AUA engine comes from as per the questions I was asking Norpan in the above reply?? Please help.....
  5. Is there no one out there that can help me??
  6. Hi folks Once again, can anyone give me a 100% confirmation that the AUA engine is a straight swap for the AHW engine as per the prevoius post above?? Thanks again in advance...
  7. I'm in the same boat. Already tried another AHW but the starter motor was in the wrong position and tried a BBY but that just didn't look right at all. Now looking at the AUA and want to know how you got on with yours??? Things are getting desperate now and I'm really struggling...
  8. Has anyone out there replaced an AHW engine with and AUA engine???
  9. Thats great info. Thanks I'm in the process just now of looking for an AUA engine but there are a few things I'd like to know?? Are you 100% positive that the AUA engine with be a straight forward swap with no fitting/mounting problems except for the req'd blanking plate?? Does the AUA engine need to come out of a Lupo or will any AUA engine be alright to fit?? Is there a particular year of engine that I would need to get?? Does it matter about the gearbox whether its manual or automatic?? Thanks once again in advance...
  10. BBY is not an option for replacing the AHW engine. It's completely different. Is the AUA an option?? Anyone out there swapped an AHW with an AUA??
  11. Has anyone got anymore thoughts, opinions on fitting an AUA engine as a replacement for an AHW engine?? Does anyone have any ideas what the name of the part that Norpan speaks about above that I would need to get from the dealer??
  12. Thanks for the reply Norpan Thats very interesting what you have said as it would appear to be completely different to what I read on the below post. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=48066 I'm getting now that I don't know what option is best!!! Is there anyone out there who has successfully managed to transplant either a AUA or a BBY engine into a Lupo that originally had a AHW engine?? All replies greatly appreciated...
  13. Anyone with any thoughts to this??
  14. Is there a difference with the BBY engines?? I've found a replacement AHW engine for my car but the starter motor was in the wrong position, at the front instead of the back, and I was wondering if this is the same with the BBY engine and if so, how do you determine which BBY engine will go into my Lupo?? Is there a difference in codes?? A friend will be getting me the engine from his contacts in the south of England and we are in Glasgow and he won't be able to see the engine before he gets it so all info will be helpful. Regards...
