  1. Haven't found an ideal place to ask questions about wiring up subs and amps, so thought id start one!

Post your questions here and hopefully people will share some usefull information to help everyone who's stuck!

    My first question...

Iv got 2 jbl subs think there 400rms and 1200wt peak each.

    i Have a 1400wt juce amplifier

Iv ran the ground wire to the boot catch metal thing, by un bolting the bracket raming the wire in the hole and then re tightening

:) seemed to do the job, anyone elsse done this or is it wrong haha?

I then ran the live to the battery ...

Ran the remote wire to the back of my head unit, (couldnt find where to plug it in but found a red wire coming of the loom with a little cap like thing over it. so i took clipped the cap off and crimped my remote wire to it. Is this okay?)

I then wired 1 of the subs positive and negative to the positive and negative on channel 1 on the amp. I did this for the next sub.

I tested the subs but only a quite sound was coming from them lol. No mad base -.-

How have i gone wrong? do i need to bridge the subs with a wire as,other than positive and negative there was also other terminals i could wire to on them?

Cant seem to get my head aroudn it so if someone can enlighten me please would muchly be appreciated!

Covered most of the things when wiring up a sub&amp so if i work it out then should be a decent step by step

    :D

    Thanks guys !

  2. Okay so I decided to take some pictures through the process of my discreet boot build.

    IMG_0541.jpg

Push seats forward and remove boot liner...

    IMG_0542.jpg

Insert 2 pieces of timber for false floor struts...

Use silicone to secure the struts in as they hold it very strong but is also cleanly removable by force if needed (useful if restoring car back to original spec.)

    IMG_0543.jpg

Place boot liner on a piece of 12mm MDF. Use this rather than plywood as it is dense and cusions sound frequency better. Alterations must be made to the template, If you just draw round the liner it will not fit*

    IMG_0544.jpg

Use a jigsaw/coping saw or other various woodworking tools to cut out your base...

Once base is cut out, measure to the centre using a steel rule or other straight edge.

Mark out a circle using compass for the sub woofer to be mounted in...

Test fit your base then finish in desired material.

I decided to trim mine in Red leatherette :)

Will upload rest of the build pictures tomorrow along with finished product pictures.

If you are wanting one of these but do not want the hastle of making your own i can supply them for...

£30.00 - plain cut MDF base.

    £40.00 - Carpet, Black/Grey.

£45.00 - Leatherette colour of your choice.

  3. Thanks guys, just got a pioneer 12" sub that im going to be building into my boot, possibly today so may put some pictures up, so thort if i went with full pioneer the overall sound quality would be better, im normally against 6x9's just got offerd some by a friend for cheap thats all! :) , Whats a decent brand for some door speakers better than pioneer but also affordable? also a headunit?
