  1. I'm running starlites with 185/55/14's. Ever since the garage took my drive shaft out i've had problems...first a grinding noise and now it sounds like the tyre is rubbing when turning. The garage had the car for a day and a half and could only suggest raising the coilovers, which I have done, but now get the above mentioned rubbing. The lupo never had this problem before, I know they replaced the inner drive shaft ring ( stops the drive shaft being pushed in apparently? ) so I'm wondering if the tracking should be redone and maybe fit 3 0r 5mm spacers....opinions are greatly appreciated!
  2. Has anyone replaced their knock sensor and give some advice on the best way to accomplish this? I've asked on one of the fb pages, but no joy. My sensor keeps bringing up a fault code - static signal too small, so was going to replace it, as the lupo hesitates under load on occassion...i've replaced the ht leads, as one of the connections to the coil pack had a bit of powder like residue inside - this seemed to fix it for a couple of days, but it's back and so replacing the sensor seems the next logical step. any advice would be helpful
  3. seen a taff green one about...lupos seem to be popping up everywhere around here!!!
  4. oooops - sorry for the multiple posts - was using my mobile!!!
  5. Nothing wrong with some mutual dub love rich! Yep, work at the homebase distribution centre and live in higham ferrers now. There are a few nice lupos about here, but not many gti's.

  7. Hello dude...nice car, not seen you about before!
  8. Spotted a black gti at park farm in Wellingborough, headed into wilby. Got a wave of the driver, any one off here???
  9. passed a clean raven blue gti on the way into kettering tesco.
  10. Thanks for the reply! new top mount, bearings were used and then bolted up as tight as possible...had a quick look and moved the helper spring and reseated it. Haven't heard the noise since, so hopefully that has fixed that. The drivers side wheel is still catching the tie rod though...not quite sure why this is??? I'll have to see if it has a weight balancing the rim - as I know one of them had one on, as well as the stick on weights...maybe that extra mm or two is the problem!!!
  11. posted previously in lupo section, but had no reply...thought I'd see if I get any help in this forum I've just fitted some kw 1's with the springs sitting 2.5 inches from the bottom of the strut threads. I've also changed my wheels over to some starlites with 185/55/15 avons. A couple of times at low speed on full lock i've had a knock/clunk when turning left...I've had the wheel off and there's no play in the cv joint. Afterwards I noticed that with the steering locked to the right, that the inside of the rim is pretty much touching the tie rod on the drivers side...so was thinking this is the problem on the opposite side - though it's too dark now to check. Has anyone else had problems running starlites? If so would a 5mm spacer be adequate to sort the clearance??? Are there any other issues that anyone thinks it could be? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated

  13. Check the back of your head unit. I had a clarion where you had to swap over the fuse to another fuse slot for vw's.
  14. I was looking at 185/50's, but they seem to be limited in choice. The 165/55's will be the same amount of stretch that I have on my current alloys, which is not suitable for around here unfortunately so I guess I'll be looking at some 195/45's...although the slightly bigger side walls of 185/50's might fill the arches better, as they have been rolled and pulled - and the offset of the starlites is pretty big compared to the ronals'.....mmmmmm, decisions!!! On a side note - what height do people seem to be ok running to get over speed bumps, without going at a complete snails pace?
  15. I've picked up a set of starlites and will need to replace the tyres, as i'm fed up of getting my ronal turbos resealed ...they currently have 185/55/14's on I'm not looking to go too low, as it's a daily drive and there are too many speed bumps/pot holes around here. Would it be best to stick with this size or would 195/45/14's be more suitable???
