anyoneeee????

hi, im not very good with cars or anything as this is my first car, ive got a 1l vw lupo and somethings going wrong about 2 month ago my car misfired and i couldnt drive over like 30 mph then the emissions light came on.. i ragged it a bit and it went off.... today i was just driving to work and the light came on again but its drives normally.. anyone got a clue what it is? i have it checked quickly by a mechanic i know and he said its safe to drive and may be my lambda sensor...??? help...ha x
