  1. If you use an oil extractor you can suck out a bit more from the oil filter housing. I am pretty anal and even suck all the old oil off the threads. You can get loads out! And then with a couple of little top ups between servicing, I find there is not much left over from 5L of Quantum Platinum. Also TDI's seem funny with their oil level. The like to sit at half way on the dipstick in my experience. After topping up, the oil level always seems to drop slowly, and then seems to settle out around the halfway point. That's purely anecdotal on behalf of me and a friend though.
  2. TDI's take not far off 5L if you use an oil extractor.
  3. I'm only here for the better weather Pete!
  4. Now who would do something silly like that!
  5. Run it for longer. The temperature gauge in the dash over reads.
  6. This is my car. Maybe it's different because of the a/c but I changed the thermostat without removing the alternator. And it was a waste of time anyway, it didn't make it warm up any faster!
  7. Yes, use a knuckle joint on the socket. Mine has A/C, but if anything I would have thought that would make changing the thermostat even harder as there are more things in the way.
  8. It's the same just at higher revs http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/16787-information-engine-codes/
  9. My GTI has KW V2's on it (admittedly bought second hand) and I think I have done 5000 miles in the last 2 years. Will be even less now as it's currently sorn'd. If it helps, the KW's will always be worth something second hand, and yours would still be in good condition if you ever decided to sell the car in the future.
  10. The 1.4 100bhp is the same torque anyway is it not.
  11. Yes probably just the bulb. P.S I'm in Geneva now, will have to meet up!
  12. Never seen one with that many options before. I wonder if it was a showroom model. It's nice regardless though. Arosa sport suspension is a good idea.
  13. Get KW V2's and turn the damping right down. About as comfortable as it gets.
  14. It's under battery/washer bottle.
  15. Yes mine came out clear too as it had been changed not long before too.
  16. Probably the end plate that is leaking. Mine had the same problem. Took my gearbox guy a couple of goes to get it to seal, even using the proper VW sealant which he showed to me. It's a good opportunity to get the oil in there replaced too.
  17. Well I never knew that. So that will be the place to find a mint Lupo GTI in the future...
  18. I'll make it on the sunday. Will bring the red GTI again!
  19. Are you seriously recommending someone fixes their car with a bean can, and also saying it's a quarter of the work? I assume you mean to use a bean can and make some kind of sleeve. Not much use when lupo exhausts normally fail at the welded connections, or the outer layers of the backbox start peeling off and the casing cracks. Just because my Lupo's are 'old' I'm not planning on scrapping them any time soon, so why would I want an exhaust fixed with a bean can. I want to fix and repair them properly. OEM parts are great, and economy parts from TPS really are quite good value. I think coopersim is right, the TPS parts are a no brainer.
  20. I just got that exact page when clicking 'View New Content" (desktop site, Chrome). The page loaded normally the second time.
  21. Rear side windows are thinner too.
  22. Borrow one from another VW or audi! It should look like this:
  23. Use the screwdriver in the toolkit in the boot to open it. The shaft is the same size and shape as the indent in the top of the lid.
