  1. it really depends on how low you go and how big the speed bump is....................
  2. some of you guys might know porka.net/clubpolo are having a rolling road day at aldon feel free to come along border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  3. right update got the cradle fitted onto the ECU yesterday so that i can change the chips around if i wanted now alan hasn't coded the upgraded chip for me so i am still running the standard chip should be a few days before he gets the new chip coded for me so once he does that he will send me it i will whip it into the ECU's little cradle which alan soldered in and off i go i will be having the car RR'd on the 29th at the porka/clubpolo rolling road day at aldon in birmingham i will let you guys know how i get on heres a RR graph i got from last year at aldon hopefully the chip might smooth out the dip in the torque curve not to bothered about getting more power, just a better torque curve will do me border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  4. oh in that it seems like the sump on the gti engines are different to the ones in the 1.4 16v alex it looks like you have to wait for a gti one
  5. the GTI engine out the polo has a sump which is silver (alumimum or something???) and is also different shape to the sump on the 1.4 16v engine which is in my car, the one in my car is black and a completely difference shape this is the sump out of me mates mk4 polo with the GTI engine in border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> alex does your sumplook like this?
  6. polo gti is the same........................
  7. tigz you will get much more than one or two horses from cams and head work, more like `10-15bhp` with a high lift cam and some head flowing i will ask about the GTI chip, alan has only just started doing these chips and mine is going to be the first 1.4 16v engine to have one of his chips so my car is basically the mule you don't get a rolling road set up, so yeah its just fit and ****** off really superchips don't give you a rolling road set up either so its not all bad the only ones which give you a rolling road set up are remaps which are about £`400-500` a go from ppl like revo if i remember correctly the way the chip is going to be fitted is alan is going to solder a wee bracket onto the ECU so that the standard chip can be put back in if you wanted to sell the car or something yes the insurance part might be ticky but some insurance companies allow with a wee bit of premium increase. clubpolo/porka will be having a rolling road day on the 29th of jan at aldon in birmingham at the same place we had last years rolling road day so i will be able to see if this chip has given me some more power.
  8. on a petrol car it is very difficult to get power from a chip unlike the diesel cars superchips etc give about `6-10bhp` extra but they cost around £300 so £150 for a chip which gives a minimum of 6bhp aint too bad we will see the results when i have mine fitted and then have a bash on the rollers at the porka rolling road day in jan
  9. alan who is a member of porka.net is selling chips for polos he is able to do a chip for the 1.4 16v engine which is the same in the polo and lupo 100bhp sport i am having one fitted on the 2nd of jan which should give a minimum of 6bhp increase might not sound like much but the price is only £150 for more info please take a look at this thread. http://www.porka.net/modules.php?name=XFor...hread&tid=20682 also if you want a different chip for a different engine then you can contact alan and see what he can do mattyb i hope you don't mind me posting this just want to let ppl know about these chips as i know a few of the ppl on here are interested in chips. robin
  10. anyone own this `y-reg`'d black gti which was parked in tescos in congleton about 15mins ago?
  11. oh and just to add that pirelli don't last very long dunlops i found very very good
  12. 195/40/16's have come down in price alot when i first got 16's i had to run 195/40/16 tyres and i paid £120 a piece for some dunlop SP9000's, the reason why they were so expensive was because the only manufacturer who made them was dunlop at the time. now you can get them much much cheaper because 3 manufacturers make them now there is dunlop, pirelli and erm someone else does them as well, can't remember who try mytyres.co.uk
  13. going towards the mere off j19 M6 on wednesday at about 3pm ish

  18. the hopwood services on the M42 is a very good place to meet, they have a massive car park and a nice grass bank to sit on are polos allowed? if not i will have to buy a lupo gti for the occassion
  19. cars go on forever if you have them regularly serviced etc also try not to screw the car when the engine is cold as that will make your car die sooner
  20. wow nice to see some of you guys and gals using your lups!!! i got my polo from new in 1999 and it hit 80k miles in 2003!!! but now its on 85k as i have got mk2 ****emobile polo as a runabout so its sat at home resting
  21. zippy i had some EBC turbo discs or whatever they called, they were spotted and grooved and they were CRAP utter crap waste of money i warped the damn things in about 5k miles poo green stuff pads are good if you are a lazy git and hate brake dust and the offer good performance but they are quite soft so they will wear down pretty quick pagid fast road pads are meant to be good
  22. any discs are good as long as you stay away from EBC turbogroove ***** go for something like zimmerman i have some omp grooved and drilled on ebc pagid pads which are very good.
